Basically, it downloaded a code that had the key to defeat Godzilla. Said code was contained in a song, the song that the protagonists had to understand, and came from the future/another dimension where Godzilla had already been defeated.
Over my two times watching, I don’t recall seeing Godzilla blasting the sky ever. Legendary, Shin, and Ultima have all done it now.
