Excellent additions to the city! The Pick - Your - Own area was **chef's kiss**. And trimming back the dirt road segments at the solar power plants, replacing the segments with groundcover is genius. This adds so much character to the city.
Just when I think “That’s not going to look good”, you always make it work with your creative detailing. I’m always interested in seeing the next, outside of the box, build you do next.
If I remember correctly, you can use the "red barn" storage building from the Industries DLC outside of the zoned industry area - It would add to the illusion. Amazing build as usual
Loved the build! Couldn't really picture it at first but came together super nicely as always :) The market vibes really gives some character to the area and the ground level metro with level crossing makes so much sense in a rural area I think
I love the pick your own area! If you added a small nature reserve main gate and a couple of small park assets at the ends of the rows (a gazebo and a lookout tower, maybe?), you could get people to actually visit and walk around 😊
Really clever use of vanilla assets to create something unique! I especially love how it creates a little sound buffer area adjacent to the airport. Nicely done!
These Kind of Solar generators are usually using hot oil. The focused sunbeams heat up circulating oil wich then boils water in a heat exchanger wich drives a turbine. So the two tanks make sense when they are filled with oil or water.
Yeah, this👆. Either oil or Salt water. If you wanted to know more google Concentrated Solar Power, that’s the type of generation these models are designed to look like. Normally used only in very sunny countries but still super cool. Great build.
As someone who never bought the Industries DLC, I often do this kind of vanilla farm industry with detailing. One tip for the barns. If you spawn in a barn, you can place a 1x? zone next to it to gain extra silos and barnyard props. That's an important detail for farms based on my Midwest USA childhood.
This looks incredible! You've given me a lot of ideas. I love how you have a little farmhouse looking home and then the little farming barns and the manual fields you created. Such a cute idea! I never would have thought of that. I build only in vanilla so I love seeing big youtubers working in vanilla. There really is a lot you can do with vanilla, just have to think outside the box a little bit! Thanks for posting this!
The negative space is good, especially for a 'county' build. And the u-pick is awesome! I can't recall if there are animals in the props, but placing some cows or sheep would add a ton to those big fields
Another fantastic build ♥️ Again in total awe of the ideas you come up with. This is actually one of my favourite builds so far in Fewnilla. I really love the pick your own farm. With the bamboo, I’m imagining that the farm started out as a tree nursery and only had some small picking fields but then became super popular, hence the modern cafe…. Just LOVE it!!! ♥️♥️ I also think the “bare” look to the whole build actually looks super realistic. And that little estate in the woods, is where you pass by on a walk with your dog and can’t help to be a little jealous of how peaceful and enclosed they live, because your neighbours have been super loud and noisy again all day 😉😂😂😂
Loved this! The open fields look great and I actually vote for no undergrowth around the edge of the solar farms. To me it seems reasonable that they would carve out a very clear space for the solar panels and not let undergrowth creep in around the edges to maintain the land around the panels.
I love this area and especially the " Pik-Ur-Own" -I grew up visiting places like this. Originally they began just as a farmstand by the side of the road, as you have it. Then people stated coming and making a day of it with their own picnic. Now these are sort of like seasonal "amusement parks" with the cafe as you have, and near where I grew up is the Watsonville farm with the Strawberry Festival, where the children all have their faces painted with a strawberry; in the fall you have the pumpkin festival with pumpkin carving contest, and hay bale mazes; and in winter its transformed into Santa's workshop and Xmas Village where people cut their own Christmas trees, have hot cider and eggnog. Recently the flower farms such as in in Half Moon Bay (besides having their own festival, naturally) brings busses of school children who learn about gardening, and beneficial insects and pollinators, and have their faces painted with a bee or butterfly. Its all definitely a thing, and I have never seen it done before in Cities Skylines. Thank you!
Ahh thank you for this, lovely to read about someone elses experiences at these places! Definitely something we could develop further in a modded build with all the props available!
@@fewcandy Oh yes!I can imagine what you could do with a modded build. I have to say though you really work your magic in Vanilla, and it is all so clever , unique and fun.
I'm amazed by your comittment to vanilla, it feels like every episode you're practically screaming out for Find It 😂 And yet the builds are still phenomenal, I'm definitely gonna steal this vanilla farm for my next city. The build looks like a great gap filler! I feel like that's one of the hardest things on C:S, filling awkward gaps with convincing builds. My go to is usually just a park xD
Thanks Kass! And yes am screaming out for find it most of the time haha! But I find a lot of enjoyment and a different kind of challenge playing vanilla!
In the city where I live, Kelowna BC Canada, we have a provincial mandate called the Agricultural Land Reserve, or ALR. Areas designated as ALR are for primary use as farming, and cannot be rezoned. This means we have farm land, orchards, and vineyards in the heart of the city, well inside city limits. This build reminds me a lot of some of the farms I drive past every day lol. Another way to fill in some odd shaped rural areas might be to make some sort of small motocross track using dirt paths. You could also do something like a Christmas tree farm, that would be pretty cool.
I haven’t finished watching it yet so apologies if you mention later. For generator effects I tend to use the earthquake sensors from the disaster dlc.
Love this series. Is there an opportunity for you to go through the functionality of the city? I’d love to see how it’s working, resident happiness, traffic flow, crime etc. Because your cities look brilliant and idealistic but I was wondering if they actually work as well as they look like they do? Either way, keep up the content on this one I love it when we get a new video drop 🙂
@@fewcandy Brilliant! I look forward to that. I need to get away from immediately addressing issues in the city and just focus on one area at a time like you have.
Nice quaint little build. I enjoyed that. Inspires me to have a second look at my rural area of town. On another note, I took a page out of your book and built a small regional passenger/cargo aiport but it's being strangled by air traffic right now. There's a constant gridlock on the taxiways and planes are even doubling up in appearance waiting for gateways to free up. What am I doing wrong? I have 53,000+ passengers with a capacity of 5,000 and the airport is already at level 3. Does my city already need a second airport to ease this congestion or do I need to rejig something about the airport?
Thank you! Do you have other intercity connections (e.g. train, ship) in your city? Could try ramping those up before extending or building another airport, but does sound like the demand is there for expansion at least. Or else try turning up your price in the airport HQ which will lower attractiveness a little and help control those planes hopefully!
@@fewcandy I have trains but no ship yet. I'm using the Azure Gulf map. I created an island in the middle of the ocean and I eventually plan to put a port out there but I haven't expanded across that side yet. I'm waiting until I put up my downtown but I'm a little apprehensive about starting. (Waiting until you start the downtown in Fewnilla for more confidence/ideas) I didn't place the airport HQ yet because I think it's out of place near my airport, which is in a fairly rural area. I'm gonna put it somewhere downtown. But I will definitely try to build out my train infrastructure and see if it helps though. Thanks so much for all the great feedback as always.
If really looking forward to seeing you work with CS2. I’m very curious to see how easy detailing is. Also whether vegetation changes through the seasons. Do the trees lose their leaves in autumn, bare branches in winter, blossom and new growth in spring and full leaf for summer?
I have a spidey sense when it comes to Fewnilla Country episodes. I could feel it in my bones. I knew a new episode was up. Awesome stuff. Ps: I think definitely try some overgrowth in the fields
It's so easy to fill every space, takes a lot more control to let things breathe a bit - and leads to a more realistic feel
Excellent additions to the city! The Pick - Your - Own area was **chef's kiss**. And trimming back the dirt road segments at the solar power plants, replacing the segments with groundcover is genius. This adds so much character to the city.
In the end, it's areas like these that make the city feel complete, and not just a couple of build neighbourhoods and heavy industry. Nice job!
Thanks Eric!

The tanks on the solar plant is for water, that style is called an updraft tower that uses steam to turn the generator
Salt water

that pick-your-own is SO cute! I probably would have used bushes with flowers rather than the beds, but i also LOVE the color-pop the beds provide

This looks awesome!!! I love how the metro gets a cute little peek in as it goes by!! Also…Yay to Flewnilla Airport!!!!
Thank you for the name suggestion!!
Nifty neato! Lovely farm. I like that you didn't overdo the landscaping this time which leaves a nice open farm vibe 😎👍
Few, every time you load a video it cheers me up...I was feeling quite down...but this is a joy to watch. Thank you!

you should put in like a gazebo or two in the "pick-your-own" plot so it generates some walkers in between the bushes.

This is perfect 😍
Great to hear it's given you some inspo, thank you!
I think the open space looks good! Looks like paddocks for horses or something
Speaking of, maybe the riding stables would fit around it somewhere!
Ooo yes they totally would! Nice idea, thanks mackie!
Amazing. I recently tried something similar, but it didn't turn out nearly as great as this.
I never knew trees striped away from the fertile land!
A ponerme al día, otra vez, jejeje!… Este año me ha tocado estar por fuera un par de veces…
Looks great, been away for hols and now going to catch up with fewnilla ❤
Hope you enjoy the binge!
The trees permanently deleting farming area is one of the most annoying things about CS. Awesome build as always though.
Very creative build 🎉

very clever! reminds me of the town where I grew up
A little detailing goes a long way. Tend to agree the zoo cafe would probably look better but doesn’t it say zoo on it?
I can't help thinking that the huge field could use some carnivorous deer.
Carnivorous?! 😅
@@fewcandy egg has them in Orchid Bay.
Could a walking tour through the pick your own be a good addition? Get some cims strolling about the fields...
Could definitely help, although we'd need to make it a park area first to add some kind of attraction, which is totally possible! Thanks for the idea!
Would be great if you could put some dams in the fake fields

oh wow
