    I read "The Bondage of the Will" back in college, and this movie totally got Luther's sense of humor. Who says theology has to be boring?

      The way Martin Luther spoke and wrote certainly makes it exciting, at times he was outright crude but this is because he spoke strongly as an authority. I think the strength of his wit is unappreciated even today.

      Jesus also had a sense of humor. He would often make the children laugh so they would feel more comfortable with him when He preached to them. He also gave two of his apostles the nickname "Sons of Thunder" due to their outspoken nature.

    The Catholic Church at the time if it stuck to being a church and not a transnational supra-state or a transnational money making corporation would mot have reached this point where Luther broke away (he only wanted to reform it).

He is one of the greatest reformers known. The black Dr. Luther came way after. That's why history is important. We need to know the work of this German Luther through him the reformation spread like wild fire. God bless hope this helps.

      "or 500 years in purgatory" is a great finish as it mocks the fact that these people such as Tetzel do not really even believe their own bullshit. "5 earthly years = 500 years in imaginary land" only to someone who doesn't really believe in "purgatory" in the first place.

    Martin Luther was a heretic who only divided the church, did not do anything good for Christ, because he established a sect with his own name and then his own speeches made this split in only 1 year in 400 sects in Germany, did not do No good to Christianity. The Catholic church had to make changes but not changes to divide into sects. His great failure can be seen in that, today his native Germany has more Catholics than all the Protestant sects together, which by the way had to found an association of sects that are not even a church. On the contrary, the Catholic Church spread through 190 countries and today many countries that should be Protestants see a revival and growth of Catholicism: a single example: in the United States in 1789 there were less than 0.5 Catholics today are the first Christian denomination in the Parents and growing up ... almost as punishment of God many of the cities before Lutheran in Germany later fell into the hands of Catholic Poland and others fell into the hands of German atheist communists who left Lutheranism even more debilitated. Today all Lutheran sects (which do not have the same doctrine) have no more than 75 million while the Catholic Church has 1200 million followers .. 5 centuries later...

      That doesn't mean the Catholic church is the true church. Read the bible and find out for yourself. Also check into how evil the papacy is and all the atrocities they've committed for thousands of years. Luther may not have been completely correct in his theology but he did perform a great deed for God and His truth.

    • @Robertjim7669
      @Robertjim7669 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Interesting you say that Roman Catholicism has 1200 million followers. Do you not know that the Bible says that many are called but few are chosen. The Bible is very clear that it is Christs finish work on the cross that gets us into heaven. Trusting in him for salvation. Not church membership in the catholic church. The Bible talks about our good works are filthy rags. Can you really say for sure that you worship the God of the Bible? Or do you worship a false Christ? One of those carved icons that all Roman churches have. Church membership will not get you to heaven nor will any of the sacraments of the Catholic church.
      Trust Christ for salvation and him alone.

      Do you know what a “remnant” is? It’s the last part of a thing that PERFECTLY matches what was there at the beginning, such as the last few yards of carpet remaining on the bolt that can be purchased at a “remnant sale”.
      *REVELATION 12:17 KJV PROVES BEYOND ALL SHADOW OF DOUBT CATHOLICISM IS NOT THE CHURCH OUR LORD JESUS FOUNDED:*
      “The dragon (Satan) was wroth with the woman (Christ’s church) and went to make war with the REMNANT OF HER SEED (Christ’s end times church) which *keep the commandments of God* and have the testimony of Jesus Christ”.
      Since Catholicism boldly claims it has the power to “change times and abrogate LAWS and to dispense with all things, even the PRECEPTS of Christ” - and freely admits to having changed the Ten Commandments, such as removing the 2nd, changing the 4th to refer to the first day of the week, splitting the 10th into two - as well as changing/authorizing the disregard of many other of God’s laws through adoption of “authoritative” philosophies as “official” church philosophy such as Thomas Aquinas’ ridiculous idea that the Christian may steal from the rich and give to the poor - this “church” in no way, shape, or form even remotely resembles the church Jesus founded Himself which kept the Ten Commandments as written by the finger of God Himself.
      The reason Catholicism has gained back ground has nothing to do with “punishment of God” but is because “Protestants” are no longer protesting, which was also prophesied - “…the deadly wound (of the Protestant Reformation) was healed, and all the world wondered after the Beast (the Papacy)”.
      The “Total Onslaught” series revives the glorious Reformation and exposes Papacy as the Antichrist that Luther and millions of others knew was/is in Rome : th-cam.com/play/PLTbHLOB5jHyPxt6B3dZfpVCTpDK6VdBUi.html
