i just recently bought a macbook pro and i guess its 2015 but im actually glad since it has the usb ports and sd port since i do things with photography and film for school and dont feel like carrying around a bunch of adapters and i really like the glowing apple logo so thats a plus too for me

I'm what some people call an "apple fanboy" and I am WAY less excited than you about these new machines lol. Apple is losing their touch. Nothing they bring out makes you go "wow" anymore. It's just "oh, cool that's a nice alternative" or "well finely they caught up there" or "why THE FUCK DID YOU GET RID OF ALL OF THE USEFUL PORTS WHEN THERE ARE NO READILY AVAILBLE REPLACEMENTS AND ADAPTERS AND BARELY ANY REASON TO EVEN GO TO NEW PORTS?!!!" Apple removed the CD drive and that was great. There were these things called Flash Drives/USB sticks that were faster and more reliable and almost everyone already had one. Getting rid of the headphone jack on the phone, or ALL of the useful ports including your own amazing charging port... that's just a fucking fail. USB C/TB3 does not replace an SD card slot or an easily accessible HDMI port. It doesn't help that all my hard drives are type A. I don't care how thin it is. I care about how neat my desk looks and how much shit I have to carry with me in my bag to make this computer useful. Which now seems to be almost everything else because it's not a portable machine. It's a machine with nothing on it that requires you to bring a slew of adapters with you. That's not portable. That's a hassle.

A screen is more than its resolution. 4k Displays in notebooks only suck up power and batterie life without improving the quality over all (Yes, I had a look at Dells XPS 15, so I know how 4k displays look like). Improvements in Brightness, Contrast and Color Gamut are WAY more important. Also, MacBook haven't been gaming machines at any time, so the GTX is for MOST people a waste of battery life and space. A little bit more graphics power would be indeed nice, but only as long as it fits into the overall concept of this machine.

Good thinking. I have that and it's awesome. My general rule. Never buy apple first gen anything. By the second or third gen, they get useful and the market adapts. Just see what happened to the Air and the watch.
I still use a late 2012 mac mini that works great, I really have no need to upgrade. I already upgraded the ram to 8gb and it runs great on macOS Sierra.
TheOddTomato the apple watch came out years after android smart watches. And in my opinion was overpriced with a lack of hardware features. But they're marketing, branding, and Apple mentality of if you own one apple product might as well own all of them made it successful

As a long time Apple fan this keynote was a huge disappointment.
- Huge price increase
- Gimmick oled touch bar
- Gone is the Function row + ESC key
- Gone is the SD Card slot + Magsafe (Why?)
- Gone is the 28watt CPU in the MacBook Pro without OLED bar.
- Only two ports on the non-oled MacBook Pro?
- No extra battery life?
- Smaller butterfly switches
- 15" users are forced to buy the "upgraded" model with a Radeon 450 (Seriously laptops have a GTX 1060 in that form factor).
No I don't give a shit about quick emojis, I want a professional laptop with a proper spec bump, proper ports, proper keyboard, I don't care if its 17% thinner, this is just a laptop for rich college students now.
With laptops like Dell XPS 15 on 40% sales, Razer Blade 12/14, laptops with GTX 1060 or external GPU support.. Hp Spectre, Microsoft Surface, Acer/Asus/MSI.... RIP Mac you were fun while you lasted until 2015.

I have the 2014 as well. I'm thinking I might go for a 2015 slightly upgraded one from what I have as 128gb of storage is just far too little lol. The new ones are nice in my opinion but they set the price WAY too high. This model should have been 1199, the 12" macbook should have dropped to 999, and the 13" with touch bar should have been 1500, and the 15" should have been 1999. Those prices are much easier to swallow. But nope, had to kill us. Maybe in a couple months we can snag a 13" with touch for 1300 lol well see.

Wouldn't it be great if instead of an array of specialty ports that can each only do one thing there were a couple of multi-purpose ports? Ports that could be used for normal accessories, but also for high-bandwidth data transfers, audio, video, networking, even charging? So that one user could connect two 5K displays or four 4K displays, another one could connect multiple RAID drives, and yet another one could buy the fastest memory card readers available and connect them? The great thing about those new ports is that they are not USB-C. They are Thunderbolt 3, which also incorporates USB-C. It's the one standard that could potentially rule them all. And USB-C is going to be the de-facto standard anyway.

They are trying to tell the other tech manufacturers that they should make their products USB Type-C. Once they have done that, then it means a much easier future for us and means that technology can keep moving forward and not be held back by the form factor of old ports.

That was *eighteen* years ago. The fact that Apple removed the floppy drive does not mean that *every* removal of features and/or hardware makes sense. Using this thing is going to require a heap of dongles and that does not gel very well with Apple's emphasis on simplicity and style.

Mr.fox used Dell optiplex with quad core q6600 CPU, 4gb ram, and 160gb HDD and it came with a Radeon hd 5450 and all of that for $40. Then I bought a $70 EVGA gt 730 2gb gddr5 so total is $110. Runs any game out today at at least low settings.

nah it is quite overpriced. "super-fast ssd" means nothing, "ultra-portable form factor" is a collection of random buzzwords, "premium build quality" is marketing speak for the aluminium unibody which is quite good but there are cheaper laptops with decent build quality for windows, "high end speakers" is more nonsense. i'll admit that macs have the best battery life of all laptops out there and their trackpad is probably the best laptop trackpad i've ever used but it's just stupidly big for no reason. all of this really don't warrant the price. in fact, it IS very overpriced. it's just the apple tax. in fact, better just get the previous generation with actual usable ports on it instead of the "futuristic" but currently almost useless usb-c ports

The fact that the 13" now defaults to "looks like" 1440x900 is a major factor for me. I currently use the 15" MBPr and like the fact that I can work with two documents side by side without compromise and without changing the resolution scaling. Being able to do that on a 13" means I may well consider the 13" when I come to replace my current laptop. Given the price of the new 15" (even higher in the UK thanks to the weak pound) that's good news!

I'm so glad I've stuck with my 2011 model, DVD drive, upgradable RAM, Ethernet port, decent travel on the keyboard, upgradable HDD.
personally the old ones are better with all the ports it has otherwise it would of been a good upgrade

Removed the sd card slot is a deal breaker for me. Also, with the 13'" having only 2 usbc ports and one being needed for power that's a deal breaker as well. I always have a external back up harddrive along with sd card and power connected to my 2015 pro and I'd need multiple adapters to do that with any of the new macbook's out of the box. I'm hoping in another year they refresh their line again and re add the sd card slot, the mag safe charger and the glowing apple symbol. Right now I'll pass on these new lines.
The only good seller may be the 15" all maxed out for pro's who clear 100k a year.
Is it so hard for apple to give us an adapter or donlge or connector from USB C to various of connection.

A laptop that doesn't have *upgradable components*, a reasonable amount of *current generation* I/O ports as well as cutting edge *desktop rivaling* CPU and GPU doesn't deserve the Pro title, this is just a thicker Macbook Air at best, and even the most serious of Apple fans are agreeing on this. It's frustrating that on a computer that is so expensive, you can even upload photos from an SD card without buying an adapter. To have the word "Pro" in the name, it should focus on performance and usability rather than just the design aesthetics.

As a MacBook Pro 2015 owner, I find the new models to be self serving only to Apple Inc.
What's the point or removing all the ports we actually use, certainly not serving the customers but it gives Apple a slight market differentiator by producing a slightly thinner laptop. But hey - why stop there.
You can also remove the entire keyboard and force users to provide their own BT keyboards, This would allow the Mac to be even smaller. And what's next - well, you can also remove the display entirely, we can always use an external monitor, which should give us the smallest footprint possible, with a far better battery life and all we would have to carry is a very small MacBook Pro brick that would fit in our pockets and be totally different than the rest of the laptops.
I will hang on to my slightly fatter Mac with USB, Thunderbolt, MagSafe power receptacle, SDXC slot and HDMI ports - because - guess what - I use them all for every day business. Mr. Cook, respectfully - I hope you are listening.
At least this means I can keep my previous-gen MacBook Pro for a little longer. Thanks, Mr. Cook. You really are consumer-focused. Who needs innovation these days, right?

apple at the moment has not made any nice product, the new Mac OS Xs lag and have crashing issues. iPhone + models are really in combat with their current iPad mini line up. They ruined the already great macbook pro, they could have just added a skylake processor, 2 USB C ports instead of thunderbolt and added an nVidia GPU and it would be great!

Just wanted to share something. So I don't know Marques, but I feel like he's different in his demeanor and presentation compared to 99% of other TH-camrs. Cool, calm, collected, and yet still able to effectively give his opinion. I've been watching his videos and following his channel for roughly 3 years now and I have no reason to stop or to not recommend him to other people...keep it up man.

At least it's USB-C. There are good 3rd party all-in-one adapters (HDMI, USB-A, SD-Card) for about $40, so that's really not that big of a deal.
Lukas Reitemeier to be honest, one usb a port would have been nice but since there are Tons of usb C to A cables that's not really a big deal. The omission of a SD card reader is much worse and using an old Intel chipset is also a bummer. If the price was 400 bucks off, it'd be cool and more in line with other ultra books but this is just way overpriced for what it is.

"It's one of the best for this category." is his reasoning I believe. But it's shit stupid and there's a lot of laptops with better specs, same build quality for a much lower price I'm sure you know. He also emphasises on the "PCIe" drive which doesn't make any sense. Sure it's fast but it's not gonna be any noticeable in day to day tasks (I have an SM951 in my laptop) unless you import/export large video files all day long. Even that doesn't make any sense because there's no real horsepower in the damn thing.

They didn't have enough courage to follow through with dropping the headphone jack on the MBP. It was an excuse to sell headphones with a proprietary connector.
Removing the SD slot is indeed a very stupid move. Only USB type C is stupid as well, it is NOT faster, type C is only a port which can be used for USB 2, USB 3, 3.1 and/or thunderbolt (yes, it's confusing). On high end hardware it is most often used as USB 3.1/Thunderbolt. For regular USB 3(.1) use, a regular port is just as fast. (Of course, with thunderbolt you have more possibilities like Display Port.) However, most Windows ultrabooks have at least 1 regular USB for compatibility with all your externals (hdd, USB drives, mouses, cameras etc), and USB type C for all other ports. Apple doesn't, as this would prevent you from buying the overpriced apple adapters.

Dude, almost every notebook maker out there is moving out to the new standards. What Apple is shipping is atleast 10-100 times faster than current standards. An adapter for a few bucks might seem like an inconvenience now. But thats better than having slow extension ports that don't support the newer and better accessories in future.

Marques. I really don't think this is an honest review from you. Everyone expected more and I'm sure you did too. that touch bar is cool but why not just release a touch display MacBook? This touch bar is a distraction and buying them time to hopefully release a touch display MacBook. whenever they decide to do it, it's already sooooooo late...
RGB Sam a touch screen display add little to no extra functionality as it acts likes another way of using a mouse, yes you can zoom with a touch display but you can zoom anyway and loads of other gestures of the huge trackpad. The touch bar actually adds more functionality as it gives information that would not previously be visible on the main screen.
+ABOE Tech in the next 3 or so years, when apple releases their touch screen without this touch bar, then what? Does that mean they haven't evolved their MacBook line? you know that's going to happen and they'll be praised for it again.
If Apple releases a touchscreen laptop, that's the moment we know they follow the rest of the market, and don't give a shit about ergonomics or usability. A touchscreen on a laptop isn't really useful. I have one. I find it tiring to keep my arm in the air to use it, and to move it so far from the keyboard. Also, it doesn't do anything that can't be done with a good quality touchpad.
A touchscreen on a laptop is a TERRIBLE idea. Desktop class software != mobile class software.

Just picked up this Mac, it's fast the keyboard is good and trackpad is exceptional. The display is hard to beat, got it at Best Buy for 1300.00, not a bad deal. Definitely the best laptop I have used to date, I have been though a lot of windows machines just got tired of updates, drivers, and virus protection software. This Mac just works. Good vid man.
Why all the hate towards the new MacBook? I'm not a big fan of it either, but I can still see it being useful.
People complain about the full Type-C USB configuration, but a lot of laptops are moving towards that. The New HP Spectre 13 is using USB Type-C all-around, it's nothing new. I personally prefer Windows as it supports more games, plus I'm more than happy with Adobe Premier on my laptop and don't think I'll be needing Final Cut Pro anytime soon. But to each their own, it isn't gonna hurt me if my friend buys a MacBook, neither will it hurt him that I use a Lenovo. The world still goes around. I don't give a damn who you claim innovates more than the other, just enjoy what you have and do the best you can with it.

Lou Diamond I will agree that having a technically brighter and more colorful display doesn't do much for the casual masses, I would have expected a resolution increase by now if anything to at least keep up with the windows machines that are coming out with 2k displays even. However I've never used a mbp so I don't really know how the specs of these new ones compare to old ones in actual daily use.

They're not underpowered. Unfortunately, Intel hasn't come through yet with a quad-core version of their latest processor. The quad-core Skylake that Apple chose is the best you can get in terms of power right now.
Dual Core on a pro with 8 GB or 16 GB LOL this is a wake up call that developers are no longer wanted. This should be called the Mac Book Student.

The SSDs are faster!!! Much faster. The processors are faster!!! The extension ports are faster!!! Keyboard is claimed to be better than the slimmer models. Dont know how it compares with the older models. But thats a little trade-off. Eventually all macs and even other notebooks are gonna have these kinda keyboards!!

The specs might be better but they are certainly not Pro. The only new thing about them is their "Emoji Improver" oh sorry I mean "Touch Bar". It's simply another piece of overpriced Apple technology, just like the Apple Watch, which incidentally the Touch Bar is based on.
