    Just installed my Chimera Air Intake, Kitaco Oil Cooler and the aRacerMiniX + AF2 today. Wasn't able to get out and tune it today, but when i get another good day out, i plan on following this video again and getting it done! No one in my area seems to work with the aRacer ECU's, quite a bummer. They just work with PCs... which i find all the settings and things you can do for your bike way better on the aRacer. Amazing video, can't wait to watch it again when i get a nice solid day to get out there and ride/tune this puppy up!
    Thanks for an awesome tutorial!

    I have the Mini 5 on my heavily modified Grom. For me the best thing about the aRacer is when you modify a part on the engine is the aRacer can relearn and make the best improvements/gains, this is way better than having to get your stock ECU reflashed everytime you modify the engine. Awesome tutorial video!!

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can, but you're not using most of the features of the aRacer at that point, and if you're only doing an intake and an exhaust, an ECU flash from DHM or CJR would be a better option. You can also just add the AF2 later when you do your next upgrade.

  • @czwhat328

    Do you have to manually save the map every time you shut the bike off? I have the same set up on my Grom and have been confused if it automatically saves the map. Also do you have to load the map at the start of the ride?

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you leaving auto tune on all the time? If so, I believe it's building a new map every time you ride. If you save the auto tune, turn it off and turn on close loop, then it'll leverage your saved auto tune map and just make fine adjustments through close loop.

    • @czwhat328
      @czwhat328 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve been leaving the auto tune on. I will try turning it off next time I shut it off after a ride. Do you need to ride with the phone always? It’s not clear if you do. That’s why I don’t really like this set up. I preferred my power commander so far. The bike seems to run bad if you try to ride without phone

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@czwhat328 I've had both and in my opinion the PCV pales in comparison to the RCMIni5. Watch the whole video, you need to create a very good autotune map, save it, turn off autotune and then turn on closed loop. Once you do that, you don't need your phone, the RCMini5 will run off your saved autotune map and will used CL to make minor adjustments on the fly.

  • @shmingusdingus

    I just got my mini x and a chimera intake and there’s a quickburn option that has the full exhaust and intake. However, i get an Illegal AMS file message. Is there any way to manually tune it if you don’t have the af2? From my understanding (and correct me if i’m wrong), tunes for an exhaust and intake are just a fuel increase since most groms run more on the lean side. In your opinion, would this solve my issue until they have a fix the quickburn?

    • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion, the RCMini5/X doesn't do much without the AF1/AF2, there aren't any good pre-defined maps, and the whole point of a stand alone ECM is to be able to tune it specifically to your setup. You're correct that the point is to manage fueling, but it's not just a more fuel vs. less fuel, it's specific fueling depending on where you are in the throttle and RPM range so the fuel varies at different stages, it's not something you can just change and feel out, you really need the AFR readings to determine that (and the auto-tune feature make this easy). I'd recommend picking up the AF module, or alternatively if you're only going to do the intake/exhaust, just get a ECM flash from DHM or CJR that are tuned specifically for your setup.

      @@shmingusdingus You may be able to get a good deal on a used AF1 (I bought my last one on eBay for about $250). • @eastcoastish
      @eastcoastish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The o2 sensor in the exhaust port is a narrowband sensor so it pretty much just says if the mixture is or isn’t at 14.7 AFR (Stoich). The Bosch wideband sensor that comes with the AF1/AF2 can constantly tell you the exact AFR which you need for tuning.

If you want to take out the timing in any given cell (or all the cells), just select one of the 0's and click the + or - button to advance or retard.

    Didn’t learn a thing to me this is all common sense tips I just wanna know why does every other Tudor explain that you need to save the tune before you turn the bike off with the key for ten seconds then back on. Actually you also missed that you can have Auto tune and the closed loop on at the same time. Also why would you need to keep putting your bike on a dyno, and saying 10,000 rpm is a safe number is bad advice what if somebody has a TB186 with stock cran, the rod bearing would fail very fast. People are getting g dumber I guess.

      Sorry you didn’t learn anything but it seems like you have some misinformation. Why would you run autotune and CL together? If you’re running autotune, CL doesn’t add any benefit. If you make a good map you should save your autotune and turn it off and let CL manage minor adjustments.
      I keep putting the bike on the dyno to do a very clean autotune after each mod as well as testing to see how much more power I’m making. And 10K RPM is no problem for the stock crank, 11K is fine for the stock crank too, as mentioned in the video it’s valve float that you worry about if you’re running stock springs.
