Yellow Hill Trail

Riding from the top of Jolly Mountain down Yellow Hill Trail #1222 in the Teanaway, late July 2018. Last summer (2017) the Jolly Mt. fire burned thousands of acres. We road through many of the burn areas and had an endless amount of downfall to clear out or ride over.

I rode this trail the first time in 1984 on my brand new, bone stock Suzuki RM250e with my friends and it was an incredible experience that I will never forget. I love watching the new videos of the current crop of riders accepting the challenge of trails like Yellow Hill!

Look up Cle Elum off road group or something like that on FB before you come here to check on trail status. That trail opens anywhere from early June (almost never) to late June or early July in a big snow year. Early season riders will need chainsaws.

Unless you’ve ridden it - it’s hard to tell how physical that trail is. The hardest parts are the loose uphills with zero traction. Wheel just digs in and momentum ceases. Great trail.

The fire really dried out a lot of the soil too, scorched it deep and burned out a lot of the micro-roots and organic stuff that helps hold soil together. On the list to get back there this summer. It will be cool to see how much undergrowth will have sprouted now after a few seasons.

This trial.. It's murder. You need to have a legit light weight Enduro for this trail.

I was on my 2014 450 XCW, loads of torque. Main thing is to keep your wits about on the side hill sections.

@@endurok39pnw I'm just so far away from feeling confident. I went down jongsom medra on my WRR not realizing it goes from green to black. Holy hell I legit thought about giving up riding until I learned it was a black trail lol.
