There's one from I think summer 2020 where a guy high sides and slides down a bit in the same section. Thankfully he was ok, and his bike sort of grabbed right at the top. Each spring the condition varies depending on how much material sluffs back onto that trail.
Haven't been on that but I have seen the vids. There is way more exposure for sure on the Salmon! There is a video from here taken either 2019 or 2020 where a guy slides off the trail in this same spot, his bike catches pretty quickly and stops but he slid down a ways before he could stop.
Hiking would be no big deal. It was off-camber that was the worst part. I have heard that someone got in there and really cleaned it up (August 2018) but would guess each spring it needs some clean up work.
Too gnar! I think the first couple of guys road it with some momentum. Going slow might have actually been more sketchy. The only reason I went across it is because the 4 guys in front of me went, so I knew it was doable. It could definitely use 1/2 hour with shovel.

Actually made my palms sweat. Kinda reminds me of the South Fork of the Salmon River trail in Idaho.

I went on this trail last weekend but I went the opposite direction. My friend wouldn't ride the cliff side so I had to ride the whole loop by myself.
How were the conditions? That side hill needs constant attention from my understanding, sometimes it is much sketchier than other times. TIA
