I'm a kid of the 90s (1989) and a video of this cartoon is one of the earliest memories I have. And every generation believes they had the best cartoons, including myself. It's a debate that will never end.
This was the first "Felix" TV episode [filmed in late 1958], originally shown in two parts {"What will happen to Felix, in the NEXT exciting chapter, of the adventures of "Felix the Cat"?"}. Jack Mercer did all the voices, and Winston Sharples composed the sparse music score (in later episodes, his Paramount cartoon music cues were extensively reused).
From me,too, I'm 58 now, you're about 63 now! Right-y-o Ha ha aha!! (BTY the Right-e-Ohh ending, after Iris out and bakc in, isn't reflective of the true ending, which was: same backdriop, but here's what was THERE TRULY instead of an animated Felix saying "Righeeo"- TV-just TV then fade to A Still, NON-amated Felix, waving. Same for the long lost between-chapters grahic, too. Same TRANS LUX closing as you see. The permanent, definitive mid-chapter closing was a narrator (obviously Jack Mercer, the one popeyed sailer cast), intoning: "What'll happen to FELIX* in the NEXT* exciting chapter in the adventures of FELIX* the cat" Iris out. *Emphasis is as spoken in that announcement.. A-right-ee-OH!
I last saw this when I was in Los Angeles back in 1983. It was on in the morning on one of the stations there. I may have been 25/26 then, but I used to catch it before I went out for the day. Hey! You're never too old to look at any cartoons. I'd rather have Felix the Cat then trashy Jerry Springer any time!
Thanks for posting this. This ran locally for years on KTVT. I think they stopped the week before I bought my first VCR in '85, so I have none of these.
Tku 4 posting. My big Sis who loved this cartoon is getting a new life on the internet tks 2 her new laptop, intro 2 the internet and the things she came up with. LifeSaver!
I'm mystified by the ending. Initially I assumed the Professor was forced into the spanking machine by Felix, but then it looked like he was intentionally punishing himself for losing out on possessing Felix's Bag of Tricks. Or maybe he's just into getting spanked for pleasure, and he's indulging in his personal sex kink.
Back in 1980, a Detroit TV station was showing these cartoons in black and white. There must have been old black and white prints still in circulation from the days before color broadcasts became common.
Do you remember... Felix? Do you remember Felix becoming friends with Old King Cole? Do you remember Felix meeting King Neptune? Do you remember Felix saving the Golden Goose? *Do you remember Felix the Cat?*
Felix's voice was done by Jack Mercer, who was also POPEYE. Felix, The Narrator, The Professor, Rock Bottom, Poindexter, etc, ALL were voiced by Jack! Cheery Cheers, RICHARD
This is interesting, but I like the 1920's version of Felix better. Back then he didn't need a bag of tricks to figure things out. He could do it on his own.
@PVFhatespeople I am not trying to be clever when I say this, but when the narrator says that Felix was gay he meant that he was happy. It's just an example of how the meanings of words have changed over the years.
In this episode, Felix was feeling quite gay as he invaded the Professor's private property. After that, the Professor became interested in Felix's bag of tricks, so he grabbed the bag of tricks and made Felix smaller. The show ended with a Kangaroo making Felix big again and the Professor spanking himself. I wish I could've lived during the age when that didn't sound totally wrong.
I haven't seen one of these Felix cartoons for nearly 50 years, and all I can recall of them is the theme song, and the moving amoeba-like shape that surrounds Felix's face in the opening credits. In my current old age, all I can say is - everybody's voice is really annoying. And it's too bad, because the Bag of Tricks is actually appealing, as is Felix's ability to use his tail for various activities.
@Treforce that has little to nothing to do with the series, these clips are from before that strange movie. It was OK, could've done a lot better, but oh well.
You know, I've never watched a single Felix cartoon my whole life, though I've known his name since like 2. And after finally watching one just now...Wow. What a disappointment.
I remember watching two differend felix the bat cartoons. The cool felix, the one that was cool, that had the magical bag and the friend(I think he was called Point Dexter) that had a button on his shirt that made his pants fall off, and I remember another one that was choppy and weird and looked older, would someone tell me the names of both series?
man I loved this song as a kid. We watched this cat everyday, along with popeye. Cartoons are not just made like this anymore. Cartoon network try to keep old cartoons alive, and I like that. Thanks for posting these, I just took a chance to see if it would be on you tube and sure enough, here it is! GREAT STUFF!
I think this is a very cute and imaginative cartoon. Keep in mind that it was aimed at children, and children really loved it. If you watched it as a kid, watching it again will bring back nice memories.
I love the professor's mumbling :)
skeem bah bo bah baba!
it helps to have an imagination...Felix was GREAT when I was 5-7 years old...

A-right-ee-OH!
i MUST have that bag, that old man it´s hillarious!!!! i love FELIX
Felix was the first television star ever! It was his image rotating on a turn table that was first beamed to a television monitor in 1929!
I love you Felix. I always did. May god bless your soul. Rest in peace.
I just love the Professor's indistinct mumbling. XD
i remember watching this as a kid! :D felix is so awsome!!
1:33
summons the Ancient Demons of Aztec mythology...
Wow! I haven't seen Felix the Cat since I was little! So cool!
Definitions of words, like music styles (jazz, rock, etc.) evolve over time.
Felix was a fashion trend-setter, sporting that Louis Vitton bag decades before everybody else..righty-o Felix- you one cool cat...

Brings back memories!DAMN!I'm old!
"Here is Felix The Cat! Gay! Care free!"
Many years later, new generations of little kids would snicker at that line.
i used to see this cartoon when I was little I did like it
Thanks for posting this. This ran locally for years on KTVT. I think they stopped the week before I bought my first VCR in '85, so I have none of these.
This is to fun, It take me back
Love how Felix is all like "I don't care about your Reducing Ray!"
That scientist is freaking grumpy.
I miss this so much!! this was my favorite show when I was little.
his so cute i use to love it too when i was a kid

Felix with his take anywhere picnic, he could solve world hunger with that bag.

felix is the coolest name ever!!!!
Back in 1980, a Detroit TV station was showing these cartoons in black and white. There must have been old black and white prints still in circulation from the days before color broadcasts became common.
It seems like this tv show is more famous than the original cartoons from the 1920's.
Took me years to figure out where bad guy The Master Cylinder from this series actually came from. Hilarious.
I miss this show. :(
I love Felix The Cat!
I know gay means happy, but the way the narrator says it just makes me laugh.
Do you remember...
Felix? Do you remember Felix becoming friends with Old King Cole? Do you remember Felix meeting King Neptune? Do you remember Felix saving the Golden Goose?
*Do you remember Felix the Cat?*
Me! me! me!
I love Felix the cat :)

righty-o ha ha ha. use to love this as a kid.
Felix teh cat for teh win
Good ole days
...Felix can summon monsters. That's epic. XD;
that scientist...he REALLY wants that bag.
The Louie Vutton Bag in the day! So this is where they got the logo ideal!
i love this cartoon!!!
i seen it before it's awesome
Funny...when he gets the bag, the doc makes like in the LOR..."my precioooous" :))
"Why look at all those signs. Felix doesn't even see them!" Uhh...
Felix isnt fking around, he got that Luis Vuitton bag....
I had a bunch of Felix the cat VHS tapes. I CANNOT FIND THEM. I have never been so sad. ;__;
A Golden Escalator...Ha Awesome!
Is that a louis vuitton bag ?
lol jajaja...
Felix The Cat ROCKS !!!!
so beautyfull
Love it!
Holy shit this cartoon... it's like I'm on some wild trip or something.
Not only does he need to clear his throat, but I think hes also constipated. He really looks like he hasn't gone number 2 for weeks.
Now that's, I say., that's a good plan, son.
i'm scarred for life now.
Why did the professor suddenly just go to sleep on the roof at 4:30?
5:48 So thats where they got the idea for "Rock Em Sock Em Robots" from!
TV has gone downhill since Felix lost his place on the airwaves.
i'd love to have that bag.
This is interesting, but I like the 1920's version of Felix better. Back then he didn't need a bag of tricks to figure things out. He could do it on his own.
ah, i love his louis vuitton bag...
thumbs up if your watching this in 2012
7:11 Righty-O! (Laughing)
Mainly the part about his "bag of tricks" :P
Thats back when it meant happy
Cute!
its funny how old this show actually is
Back then, 'gay' had a totally different meaning than it does now.
@PVFhatespeople I am not trying to be clever when I say this, but when the narrator says that Felix was gay he meant that he was happy. It's just an example of how the meanings of words have changed over the years.
this was the real stuff, but now everything is replaced with stupid cartoons. i miss the good old days

Laughed my ass of when thay said "gay"

Good Stuff

This wasn't bad, basically state of the art kinda Magoo style animation of the late fifties.
You know, I've never watched a single Felix cartoon my whole life, though I've known his name since like 2. And after finally watching one just now...Wow. What a disappointment.
This cartoon should end at 3:58. Professor 1...Felix 0. But must admit "spanking machine" huh?
I just noticed something. The professor sounds oddly like Popeye.
38 people had their property trespassed on.
I love You tube.
A self spanking machine. Now thats mad!
I remember watching two differend felix the bat cartoons. AHHHHH
what did they do to the awesome Felix cartoon?! This shit is TERRIBLE.
damn you 1959!
I Got Da Jacket

I live this!! I used to watch this everyday when I was little! Miss it so much

I thought i'd never see those long-lost Felix The Cat cartoons ever again! Thanks you for reviving 1 of my many childhood memories.
I love this! I was born in 1996, but my aunt had tapes and let me watch this...i luv this show. It's awesome!
Ah enjoying cartoons from the 90's also im a kid awesome
I remember watching this in the suburbs of Los Angles, Inglewood when I was a child in the early 60's WOW
Right on. Mickey and Felix are both fun to watch. There's no reason to like one and not the other.
Takes me back. I'm amazed I remember *some* parts. Used to enjoy this show.
5 stars :D
