The fact that Felix can manipulate common household cleaning tools with music resonates so much more to me now than it ever did when I was a child watching this. Lol. That music though. What a wonderful jazz compilation to go along with this. We had the worn out VHS of this, which included a few other silent Felix flicks that were equally as impressionable. Glad this exists. Like a portal to my 80s childhood.
Found out a few tracks heard in this cartoon... 0:00 - 1:31: Flute Reggae - Clive Hicks 1:32 - 3:26: Tin Whistle Reggae - Duncan Lamont 3:27 - 5:26: Visit to Motown - Dave Richmond
Gosh thank you!!!! My dad bought the VHS for us in the 80s and it's been long since lost. But those songs tho....lol.. They still get stuck in my head all these years later.
felix is definitely a Loki trickster-god archetype, that's what makes him so charming in these old shorts. We don't really have anything like him today, I got the feeling they tried to recapture him in 'Twisted Tales of Felix' but didn't quite succeed.
Imagine if the production team behind the first season of "The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat" knew about these redrawn-colorized Felix cartoons; they could've made fun of them in one episode!
2D animation is always the best. Oh some jokers think their shows are so hot just because their animation is better. It's the story and the characters that really matter. That's why hand drawn is the best.
Yep! Too bad "Flute Reggae" was the only KPM stock track in this cartoon that Golden Book Video used. It also got used in this 1979 Jack-In-The-Box Frings commercial featuring Rob Paulsen (yes, THE Rob Paulsen!) th-cam.com/video/OmbSZa4XvJk/w-d-xo.html
I have some questions. 1. Wasn't Kitty supposed to be white? 2. Why's Felix's eyes are yellow instead of white? 3. Why's Felix's face part is brown instead of white?
@Johnny Morphine This cartoon originally was silent, but yeah, I think it's currently lost. Kind of sad how it only exists as a redrawn colorized version...
most likely a vhs, they did release these colourized felix cartoons on vhs in the 80s. they might've aired on tv in the 70s too.. unsure about that though

all songs are in the Kpm 1000 Series. look for their albums, you won't regret it ;)
I think the redraws and the old department store "Muzac" are cool in their own kitschy way!
Add some colors + cool music and a 1927 cartoon seems something like a 1960 one.

The music seems very Filmation-esque.
It also reminds me of Steve DePatie's music in the 1978 made-for-TV Pink Panther cartoons!
