    Great video. If I had rebuilt that. The first time it popped when during start up. I would have shut it off. Changed my shorts then try and figure out what I did wrong. The first time I start any gasoline appliance. I'm as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

    Your videos are an immense help! Thank you! I just got an original Icy Hot Lunch Box from the 30s. It’s in really nice shape, but needs a little help. The paint appears to be original but it’s red instead of renamed green as described in the 1930 Sears Roebuck Catalog. Should I be concerned about lead in the paint on the box? It looks too perfect to be added later and has a nice deep gloss. Thanks again

      The only way to know...as far as I know...is to use a lead test kit on the paint.

    Bill, I recently purchased a Prentiss Wabers stove at a flea market and I am going to restore it. It is almost identical to the one in the video except it is a 3 burner and says model 12. Also the wire legs protrude further out from the sides and the bands holding the tank are not riveted but screwed together. I can’t find anything about this stove and wonder if you might be able to help in dating it? I have photos available.

      Hi David. I don't have enough experience with the various Prentiss Wabers models to be able to answer your questions, but I bet the guys in the Classic Camp Stoves forum or in the Stovies Anonymous group on Facebook could give you an answer.

    Do you think there is any need to be concerned about lead or asbestos with these type of stoves? Thanks so much. From South Carolina!

      Not with this stove. Some older stoves have lead seals on their fuel caps, but that isn't a problem.

    Do you have to reopen the diverter before you light the auxiliary burner?

    • @king.coleman
      @king.coleman  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The divert is only used for diverting fuel to the preheat cup and preheat is only needed to get the main burner started.

      The generator delivers fuel to the manifold. The manifold is split and delivers fuel to both burners. When the control for the auxiliary burner is closed, it prevents any vapour from reaching the auxiliary burner itself. The diverter blocks fuel from getting to the main body of the manifold that feeds the burners. Liquid fuel hits the diverter and drops down through an opening into the preheat cup. The flame in the preheat cup heats the generator, causing it to vaporising the liquid fuel coming from the tank.

    Did these come with carrying cases? If so I came across one .
