Youvcant just cut a peice off and stick it in dirt. You usually need to wait for almost a weak for the root area can scab up. Otherwise, you risk root rot
They should have let the cut area scab over or not water right away. You can get away with it but more success the way I stated. I have planted thousands of succulent cuttings including many cressula ovata.

Can we water immediately once we place a stem cutting? For any succulents?
