- Heavy Rainy Season in Bangkok at the moment. The Monsoon keeps pooring extreme rain on Bangkok. Many streets flood every day. September is the month with the most rain in Bangkok.
Several side sois, such as soi 5, soi 7 and soi 9 flooded. I noticed the garbage trucks keep working, big respect for those guys.

One of your best ever videos!! It is so visceral, I can feel those heavy drops and clumps of rain smacking against the pavements and plastic umbrellas …. I have been loving Bangkok more than ever these last couple of months, staying out late photographing the reflected neon colors and feeling a part of the action, invigorating! On September 20 I flew back to the U.S. for a couple of weeks … it’s just the first couple of days and already I miss Bangkok soooo much, I’m missing the REAL action in the world. Can’t wait to come back - keep up the good work, this is an amazing video!

I think this might be my favorite video, definitely my favorite “rainy video”. I love seeing all the night owls and just how busy it still is, even at 3:00am. You should do some more 3-4 am shoots when it’s not raining just see see all the activity. I saw one video about a market that opens at midnight where the vendors sell all the souvenirs (junk) in bulk. I love cities that never sleep.

Visiting in Aug/Sept from N.Calif I enjoyed the rain...even got caught in some flooding...but feel bad for my friend Thawee and others that have to deal with it..will be back in Feb!

I was there in 2015-16 traveled frequently good old days in Sukhamvit soi. Lovely city with same issues we all face all over drainiage overflow, heavy rains and ofcourse spirit of people always up.
Rain at night = Good sleep

Was hoping you would go into Foodland on Soi 5 for a snack at Took Lae Dee. At the end of the video, could not believe the Crown Hotel is still there. My first trip to BKK I stayed at Uncle Reys Guest House, next door to Nana Plaza. Long gone now.

Thanks for the video. I too don't remember this much rain. I was curious about flooding on Sukhumvit and the major Sois. My Soi got new storm drains and concrete surfaces. Considering the amount of rain captured in your video, I'd say the upgrades are working.

Yes, the drains are surely working. Once the rain stopped it cleared rapidly.

Good question Peter. I actually do not know, maybe some of our Thai followers has an idea.
My dad worries a lot about flooding. Every day, he monitors and follows the weather report. We just moved from a condo to a two-story house where we've never experienced floods, and the heavy rain almost makes everyone in the house crazy. It is difficult to predict if the neighborhood will flood.

I’m back in uk now but while in Bangkok last few weeks I got caught in the rain a few times. I would say worse than in previous years and I often travel in august/September.

Rainy season will go into October normally. But September has the heaviest rain. It is not difficult to organize things around the rain. It mostly rains around the same time every day :-)

Amazing video showing walking around on a typical night over there during the Monsoon. What type of equipment are you using to get this footage so clear despite the rain? How are you keeping it dry enough to keep recording?

Lately it rained in the evenings. Mornings we have had clear skies. But it can change. It is not difficult to navigate around the weather :-)

Rainy season normally means that it rains an hour per day in Bangkok. On the Islands it might differ a little bit.

I am just waiting for that garbage truck to hit a low overhang & see all those bags piled on the its top to come crashing down---but then again all that trash just adds too the tons of raw sewage dumped into the local bay daily (this according to another local who lives there) which means no one should never eat any fish caught locally---

Mostly it rains for an hour. But the last days it rained a bit more.
