Extremely proud of Madam Bhandarnaike . Major fan from India . India , Sri Lanka were led by women even though we were developing nations . Funny how US still hasn't got any female Presidents .

Only leader we ever had to whom we can address as අතිගරැ was Mrs Bandaranaike. She really earned that by working tirelessly to uplift our nation. She donated so much of her family wealth to Sri Lankan public and never stole any public money. Then came the squanderer JR and started the downfall of our nation.
Not only that, JR initiated the black july riots and alienated the tamils from the sinhalese. But they put the blame of the ethnic problem on the Bandaranaikes.
She did not donate her land and property voluntarily. She was forced to giveup land due to land reform commission.

Lot to learn from for the modern politician
She reluctantly agreed to enter politics after the tragic assasination of her husband.
She was elected more than once but failed to do anything good.Her last term was disastrous.
Exemplary leader, Iron Lady, Mrs. Bandaranaike was known as, Fondly by All, donated so much of her family wealth to the Sri Lankan public and never stole any public money, worked tirelessly to uplift our nation Of Sri Lanka. Madam Bandaranaike did her duty to her country well. Speaking of Exemplary leaders of Our Nation, the Fourth Executive President D.B. Wijetunga was an outstanding UNP Politician, having known him personally all my life, I will always remember him as well, as very special, he endeared himself to others by his stark simplicity & his affable manners, feel looking back proudly, with much love and affection and Gratitude for the service to his birth Nation of Sri Lanka. Done very Well. My prayers for, two Great Leaders of this Nation that Ever lived.
She only looked “iron” because of the support she got from leftist politicians like N M Perera and Pieter Keuneman. She did not donate her land voluntarily. She was forced to give up land due to land reform commission. This woman won the election in ‘70 by saying that she would bring two measures of rice from the moon and give them for free. But by '77, the people of the country were left with only their two testicles. What you mentioned about D.B. Wijetunga was true because I used to live in his electorate in Kandy.

Iron Lady, Mrs. Bandaranaike. I love her career as a politician. She did a lot of great things to the country but disastrous UNP that grabbed the power in 1977 started demolishing the country. Country can never get away from the grave into which UNP threw.
The Country didn't progress during her time and people went through many hardships. However, compared to present day leaders, she maintained her dignity to a large extent

මම Bandaranayake family ekata kathi. මගේ මතකයේ හැටියට අනුර උගත් උනත්. එදා හිටිය කලේ චන්ඩි, තමයි අනුරව නොමගේ ට දැන් මේ. දැන් උන් රජවෙලා. බණ්ඩාරනායක ලා ගේ, කාලය ඉවරයි. මගේ අම්මා මට දවසක මේ ගැන කියලා තියනව. ඇ න් ඒම් පෙරේරා මහතාගේ ගෙදරදී. පසුකලෙක විජය සහෝදරයා ත් 1981 කොළබ Cambell park එකේ may day rally එකේ දී අම්මා ව (මැටිල්ඩා අක්කා - කොළබ යකඩ ගෑ නී) හමුඋනුවෙලේ ප්රකාශ කලා අදවගේ මත කයි. මම තාමත් ජීවත් වෙලා ඉන්නවා. හැමකෙනෙකුගේම දේශපාලන ය දන්නවා. නමුත් අපි නිහඩව ඉන්නවා.
