I've been begging for this treatment for 30+ yrs. But of course being in S.C. & being a female no one would help me. I'll probably receive a letter of OK after I'm DEAD!!! I want this NOW!!!
Hi, where are the ongoing studies at in Sydney for this treatment. There does appear to be a number of positive reports globally about this treatment from either in Russia or Mexico. If there is good repeatable science over many years that is positive, it will be interesting if this treatment becomes available with Medicare so it becomes a reality for most of us that can’t afford the costs or don’t want to really on another countries outcomes. DMT’s in Aus cost us the tax payers over $25 k/yr, 4 years of these medications is the same cost as us going to Russia for the testament and if you are then able to stop dmt, this therapy can actually save us tax payers money allowing it to go into other necessary requirements in research like other ways to eliminate MS with much less violent ways or time frames if being of work while your immune systems rebooting. This therapy looks very promising and hopefully science can prove its efficacy and if positive it becomes an option for us Australians ( and the rest of the world)
Hi Dean, thanks for the question and thanks Kerry for providing a response. As Kerry said, there is already some work on this happening in Australia, however, my understanding is that it is still as part of clinical trials rather than as a potential treatment option for anybody. I know initially that they had quite strict inclusion criteria to be a participant in the trial, but I'm not sure how this has developed. We have worked with Dr Jennifer Massey before, who is one of the leading neurologists working on AHSCT at St Vincents. We will get in contact with her and ask if she would be happy to do an interview to discuss their latest work with us. Thanks again - Brett
I have been diagnosed a couple of months ago with rrms and I am flooded with MS research vids promising potential therapies. I have learned that most of these therapies are barely in phase 1 testing or are progressing really slow. are there interesting therapies that become available soon that we can look forward too? I really like your vids, they feel clean and scientific. Thanks for all the effort you are putting into this!
AHSCT is still draconian imo. It’s also very high risk. Using stem cells from donated live birth umbilical cords is much safer, and even more effective but you have to go out of the country and pay about $30k to travel and pay for it. (In US), so Why is it being resisted here?
Thanks for the comment. Personally, I think it will be interesting to see how this space develops. Is there going to be a time where we would also look at doing allogeneic stem cell transplants (i.e. where the stem cells are coming from a different, healthy donor)? While there are a lot of difficulties associated with this, the potential benefits are also much bigger. In terms of this using umbilical cord derived stem cells, I haven't seen any trials that have looked into it, which would be fascinating to see the results. I'll do another look, as it could be the topic of a future video - Brett
I had my stem cells removed with some chemotherapy last year but I had a reaction and said to halt removing me immune system completely and the haematologist agreed with me. So I now have stem cells kept safe for me so if I end up with my RRMS flaring up again I can have them put back into me. I’m now on Kesimpta and doing really well on that DMT so hopefully I won’t have to use the stem cells at all
Hi Jason, thank you for sharing your personal experiences with us. I'm glad to hear that you are doing really well on Kesimpta and hope things continue in that way. It would be great if it all continues to be stable and you don't have to have the AHSCT therapy at all. Thanks again - Brett
Hi Laura, thanks for the question. This has been something that has been looked at for a different type of stem cells to the one described in this video. There have been some early stage trials that have looked at the potential use of mesenchymal stem cells as a treatment for multiple sclerosis. These stem cells have different properties and it is thought that they may be better suited to repairing some of the damage that has occurred. More recent trials have found this to be particularly effective if the cells are delivered intrathecally, which means injecting them into the spinal canal. I will do a video on this type shortly, but you can watch an interview that we did with a researcher from a group in New York that are looking at this type of therapy (though I am unsure if they are using an intrathecal approach to deliver the cells). That video can be watched via the link in the next comment. Thanks again for your question - Brett

Hey man how are you?
Have you seen anything discussing the efficacy of applying stem cells via lumbar puncture -v- an IV infusion? Is anybody looking at that in the US?
