Perfectly healthy former service members never exposed to any stressful situations, much less left the comfortable confines of an air conditioned office space are getting better benefits then I receive for my 20 year retirement pension. Disability for sleep apnea or hemorrhoids? Total BS.

And that's what community care is all about keeping the veteran close to home.

Now, most of my care is provided by non qualified DEI chosen people who do not share my needs and requirements. Just make sure that VA doesn't cut our disability in the budget cuts. The army has the worst surgeons so the damage done limits some of us in movement and/or strength. This limitation reduces job options in already bad job market. My surgeries can't be corrected by VA nor civilian docs available to us. We sacrificed ourselves based on previous admin lies about the enemy threats. Please don't cut our disability because politicians stole taxpayers money for their pocketbooks.

Why can't the VA Healthcare system simply piggyback off the existing Medicare system to provide options for civilian care. The Medicare program could be modified to accept all veterans authorized VA medical care and have the VA system paying the Medicare portion and absorbing any co-pays. That's what Medicare does with retired veterans who are on Medicare and Tricare for Life. The VA always ignores acceptable and affordable options so that they can create an in-house system costing the taxpayers billions of dollars.

We need to make this more widely known so that those in Montana, and other rural settings, are not pushed aside by vets in urban settings saying things are fine. The witness stated the BA will assess the vet's need to get care locally. Open admission they were blocked needed care for vets. The part I really don't understand is why are we still dealing with VA care issues after a generation of complaints.

If you need to see a Dr at the VA, the wait time is a month and then you see nurse practioners or physicians assistance. Medications and diets are recommended and no follow-up with blood work until a year later. Many medications like statins and bp medicines can cause severe damage to the liver and other organs in a year.

It was always a 'training' Doctor, mostly foreigners, etc. And every time he went it was 3 more pills! Until he put his foot down. ha! Nice friendly place though, I liked it! Catching cross talk in waiting rooms, it was cool, they had a comradery among them! And I fit in, just being a nice guy, (Eagle Scout). Just fix it! Easy as pie!

Never forget, the VA is there to give the Veteran another chance to Die for his Country.
I'm a Veteran in Texas just outside of Houston.
I have had my Appointments Canceled. I have had to Fight with the VA just get an Appointment. I have had the VA refuse to cover Emergency Room Visits and I have been outright denied services form the VA.
The rule is If the VA can't see a Veteran within 90 Days the Veteran can get Care in the Community. What the VA Does is Schedule me for An appointment within 90 Days and then Cancels the appointment a few Day prior, not telling me and Reschedules me within another 90 days.
This has Happened to me several times.

He started having the same symptoms earlier this year and I called OSU and they said I just needed to get the referral letter from VA. They WOULD NOT give it to him until he went there. We were 2 mins late 6 weeks after we made our first phone call to them. For the next 5 months we went back and forth just like this senator is saying vets have to do and because of all of the lies and false claims of them saying we missed this appt or that appt he passed away on aug 31 2024. Veterans should be able to access care in their communities. Not everyone can easy get to VA facilities even adhering to the 40 mile limit because of transportation issues. Also, at times, multiple appointments are scheduled so more return visits are required. Why not make it possible for blood work, x-rays, etc. for one trip. Fortunately, VA health care in our area has been very good. It's just the amount of appointments needed.

I went under VA medical care in 2000 here in Montana. In 2012 they cut me off and no one would tell me why and I was still on a VA Pension. In 2019, I had a heart attack. The VA got the bills from the hospitals and they restored medical treatment. Two months later had another one and got life flighted to a Kalispell Hospital where I was kept for about 24-hours thinking they were going to install a Pacemaker. But their doctor said I was "borderline" and didn't need one. She discharged me. I had to beg them for a meal, was shoved into a makeshift room far far from the cardiac area. The only medicine I received from them was a single aspirin although I gave them a list of my meds- No return transportation was given. I had to call my daughter and she had to drive the 300 miles or so to retrieve me. In short, the public got hit with about $40,000 in NEEDLESS bills. And, to date, I have never been allowed to pick a doctor of my choice. The best one was an emergency room doctor in Hamilton's hospital who came in to the exam room, glanced at my chart and, after learning I was a vet, walked out saying: "We've a new direction for America."

I live in Kingsport, TN. The VA in Johnson City, TN is involved in an employee sex scandal on VA property.

"we will assess"- means they won't do shit for the veteran. I hate going to the VA, they don't listen and it's nothing but a waste of time.

Why are so many high level officials and decision makers put in those positions? Why do they want these jobs? They don't succeed in them. They produce nothing of value, yet are some of the highest level decision makers in some setting. HOW DID THEY GET THERE?!? WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY?

My husband died in a VA hospital in ICU for one month. He had a spot on his lung since Vietnam. They only watched it to make sure it didn't grow from agent orange. He had to have an Open heart surgery which opened up the lung. He never recovered from that surgery because he could never breathe normally again. He went back and they diagnosed him with mesothelioma which was a lie. He died from lung cancer spreading. I had the medical report I requested from the VA. It showed he had cancer of the lung. I tried to file for the pact act and they turned me down. I did file for the mesothelioma but had to hire a lawyer and when they paid. The VA took half of the money for him being in their hospital. That's how evil they are. Never trust VA or government agency

Question: True or False; Is the VA, especiallly in Texas and western states, is providinh health care for those that crossed the borders illegally under the Biden adminstration?
I've seen a couple of articles about this, however there was no follow up. Whats the story?

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of
information can be a big hurdle. I've been
making more than $200k passively by just
investing through an advisor, and I don't have
to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my
finances remain secure. So I really don't blame
      people who panic.
