How would you know? Not all "veterans" deserve the benefits they are receiving. Perfectly healthy former service members never exposed to any stressful situations, much less left the comfortable confines of an air conditioned office space are getting better benefits then I receive for my 20 year retirement pension. Disability for sleep apnea or hemorrhoids? Total BS.
As a veteran the VA sucks. They have no right to try and tell me where I wanna go and I wanna go. They don’t know my situation because they want me to go four hours away to a doctors office and then they’re gonna assess what I need which is garbage I shouldn’t have to drive four hours just for them to say yay or nay I need help
What an absolute disgrace these selfish people are. They love their freedom to do as they do and deny the better treatment of veterans who GIVE them their freedom!!!
I had lots of problems getting proper care for my Dad, a WWII Veteran USMC Iwo Jima, in Wyoming until Senator John Barasso stepped in! He made it right.
She was saying the VA had to assess it, and He was saying community Care was easy for veterans and that's what matters for the veterans when you need you don't want to drive all day. And that's what community care is all about keeping the veteran close to home.
I am a 100% disabled veteran, and the health care is pretty good when you can fight your way through and actually get to see the clinicians, all the others including management at all levels need to be let go, please have DOGE put both the VBA/VHA under investigation, and get rid of all the layers of management there are simply useless.
I am a Viet-Nam veteran..In the last 4 years, my access to the health care that I need has been diminished by a factor of 5 at least..My best doctors, techs and admin personell have left the clinic that I drive 60 miles to for out patient care..Why is that? Now, most of my care is provided by non qualified DEI chosen people who do not share my needs and requirements. It is my hope that the DEI chosen personell are fired and that MERIT is again prevalant in the choosing of my health care professionals.
I went to a local clinic to try and keep from driving 150 mile round trips. After the initial assessment, the clinic sent me a bill for $75. I disenrolled immediately.
My husband is a vet. He was having a heart attack and the v.a said they couldn't help him. My husband no longer goes to the va anymore. My husband could have died and the VA did not care.
It’s about time veterans come first, I have proof they’re not doing that for Veterans. My Brother is a Veterean Ne was a marine my brother in- Law Is another.😊
Thank you, I am an AF Veteran, I know many have had issues with their VA's but I have had nothing but good care. Medicaid, illegals and the elite all get to choose where they receive care it is about time to change this for Veterans!! DEI hire...OPEN MOUTH OUT FLIES LIES, GOODBYE AND HALLELUJAH!!
A lot of us don't pay a penny. I'm a "Non-Service Connected" vet who was injured in an M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, which is a special pension just for service personnel who served in a declared war zone. I guess the VA bureaucrats failed to comprehend that M1 Abrams tanks aren't available to the general public. ;)
Just make sure that VA doesn't cut our disability in the budget cuts. The army has the worst surgeons so the damage done limits some of us in movement and/or strength. This limitation reduces job options in already bad job market. My surgeries can't be corrected by VA nor civilian docs available to us. We sacrificed ourselves based on previous admin lies about the enemy threats. Please don't cut our disability because politicians stole taxpayers money for their pocketbooks.
yes, and it's a shame, that jon Stewart is the one that fought for the 9/11 people, to get the help that they need.. glad he did, especially when so many doesn't seem to care, or fight for them, or what's right, and that's the shame..
I work for VHA...and I can say this...THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN! OUR VETERANS DESERVE BETTER! Veterans don't get their health care where and when they need it! Community Care is difficult for most veterans to get approved😢
Your absolutely correct. Been going back and forth over a year. Community Care nurses denied my Doctors order and said I didn’t need the services. It’s completely BS.
Why can't the VA Healthcare system simply piggyback off the existing Medicare system to provide options for civilian care. The Medicare program could be modified to accept all veterans authorized VA medical care and have the VA system paying the Medicare portion and absorbing any co-pays. That's what Medicare does with retired veterans who are on Medicare and Tricare for Life. The VA always ignores acceptable and affordable options so that they can create an in-house system costing the taxpayers billions of dollars.
I got blown up twice in Afghanistan. My nearest VA hospital is 2hrs away in another state. When Covid happened, they cancelled all my appointments and said they’d call when they could accept patients again. They never called back 😂
VA community care was so much better under President Trump and I anticipate that will be the case when he resumes his rightful place in the White House!
It's true my husband was 100% disabled and we used to have to go to Biloxi Mississippi to the VA there when we lived in Florida. Then they got a small facility where we live but that took years.
We need to make this more widely known so that those in Montana, and other rural settings, are not pushed aside by vets in urban settings saying things are fine. The witness stated the BA will assess the vet's need to get care locally. Open admission they were blocked needed care for vets. The part I really don't understand is why are we still dealing with VA care issues after a generation of complaints.
i feel for the vets in rural areas, where a VA center is hours away from them. personally I've not had much headaches with the VA, other than when my back goes out and i need pain medication just to sit still, they still don't like to give us anything.
If you need to see a Dr at the VA, the wait time is a month and then you see nurse practioners or physicians assistance. Medications and diets are recommended and no follow-up with blood work until a year later. Many medications like statins and bp medicines can cause severe damage to the liver and other organs in a year.
Im a viet nam era vet 1970,1973. I cant even get va to talk to me Im disable and belo poverty doint belive them then broken hearted for todays homles vets today .
My Dad although only a Corporal, 9 Mo tour in Alaska (Korean war), always thought the VA care was shotty. I was his driver. It was always a 'training' Doctor, mostly foreigners, etc. And every time he went it was 3 more pills! Until he put his foot down. ha! Nice friendly place though, I liked it! Catching cross talk in waiting rooms, it was cool, they had a comradery among them! And I fit in, just being a nice guy, (Eagle Scout). Just fix it! Easy as pie!
Never forget, the VA is there to give the Veteran another chance to Die for his Country. I'm a Veteran in Texas just outside of Houston. I have had my Appointments Canceled. I have had to Fight with the VA just get an Appointment. I have had the VA refuse to cover Emergency Room Visits and I have been outright denied services form the VA. The rule is If the VA can't see a Veteran within 90 Days the Veteran can get Care in the Community. What the VA Does is Schedule me for An appointment within 90 Days and then Cancels the appointment a few Day prior, not telling me and Reschedules me within another 90 days. This has Happened to me several times.
When a person takes an oath to defend this country and puts their life on the line, our country is obligated to give them the health care they need when they need it, where they choose to get it and the best care available to them. We owe it to them. And, they should not have to live on the streets.
I just lost my 57 year old navy vet because he previously had cancer and was able to survive and become cancer free after going thru our local university hospital. We were 2 mins late 6 weeks after we made our first phone call to them. It's not actually easy in Houston. I have to pay Uber about $20 one way to the Park and Ride, take an hour long bus ride into town, switch to a local bus for another 30 minutes, then reverse the process coming back home. Beneficiary travel is about $23 which just about covers one Uber ride without tip. IT IS NOT EASY!
Veterans should be able to access care in their communities. Not everyone can easy get to VA facilities even adhering to the 40 mile limit because of transportation issues. Also, at times, multiple appointments are scheduled so more return visits are required. Why not make it possible for blood work, x-rays, etc. for one trip. Fortunately, VA health care in our area has been very good. It's just the amount of appointments needed.
I chose to go to the private sector for my healthcare. A VA Hosp almost killed me. I had gangrene from an abdominal Surgery. I hope they can fix that mess.
They need veterans in these positions to make decisions for veterans, not someone who has no clue or even cares if our veterans get the care they need and surely have earned, what a disgrace to our veterans
I cant wait till this BS gets fixed. I tried using the VA a decade ago and scared myself seeing how bad it all was. Pretty buildings stuffed with a bunch of sandbaggers inside. I am so ready to run these claims, but when it hurts more to deal with them and puts me more at risk I'll withdraw to safer location till the lines are better
I went under VA medical care in 2000 here in Montana. In 2012 they cut me off and no one would tell me why and I was still on a VA Pension. In 2019, I had a heart attack. The VA got the bills from the hospitals and they restored medical treatment. Two months later had another one and got life flighted to a Kalispell Hospital where I was kept for about 24-hours thinking they were going to install a Pacemaker. But their doctor said I was "borderline" and didn't need one. She discharged me. I had to beg them for a meal, was shoved into a makeshift room far far from the cardiac area. The only medicine I received from them was a single aspirin although I gave them a list of my meds- No return transportation was given. I had to call my daughter and she had to drive the 300 miles or so to retrieve me. In short, the public got hit with about $40,000 in NEEDLESS bills. And, to date, I have never been allowed to pick a doctor of my choice. The best one was an emergency room doctor in Hamilton's hospital who came in to the exam room, glanced at my chart and, after learning I was a vet, walked out saying: "We've a new direction for America." US Navy '65-'69, Vietnam Vet. '84-92 MT ARNG.
Why are so many high level officials and decision makers put in those positions? Why do they want these jobs? They don't succeed in them. They produce nothing of value, yet are some of the highest level decision makers in some setting. HOW DID THEY GET THERE?!? WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY?
My husband died in a VA hospital in ICU for one month. He had a spot on his lung since Vietnam. They only watched it to make sure it didn't grow from agent orange. He had to have an Open heart surgery which opened up the lung. He never recovered from that surgery because he could never breathe normally again. He went back and they diagnosed him with mesothelioma which was a lie. He died from lung cancer spreading. I had the medical report I requested from the VA. It showed he had cancer of the lung. I tried to file for the pact act and they turned me down. I did file for the mesothelioma but had to hire a lawyer and when they paid. The VA took half of the money for him being in their hospital. That's how evil they are. Never trust VA or government agency

Pathetic how our own government treats vets. Disgusting.
