Lol I understand that this was uploaded a week ago, but this take is like way older bruh, 😂😂 but at the end of the day Kobe Bryant was incredible, also all this ranking, who is the best, who is better then who is some nonsense, it's all opinionated, don't nobody have the authority of this, these are pointless debates, who is better him or him, this is how these fake af scripted "debate" shows are makin there money, it's entertainment to watch ppl talk about who is a better basketball player... Really? Nba.com understands targeted marketing, let's create an all decade list for the 2010s that should spark some attention. Regardless of the "analytics" Kobe was REAL AF, and imma always take the critique of the pros and legends and the peers of the ppl who ACTUALLY balled with and/or against him, not no fake af analysts who lookin for a paycheck, not no TH-camrs who got 0 NBA Experience, not no boxing analyst who don't even think Track and field is a real sport😂😂 man FOH, These debate shows on fs1 and ESPN need a change they names to WWE

2011 Kobe got swept in the second round when his team was the favorite, he didn’t get the job done. 2012 he got ran out the gym by okc, kd outplayed him significantly. 2013 Kobe carried the lakers to an 8th seed and that was probably the most impressive thing he did all decade bc LA was playing horrible that year. 2014-2016 we all know what happened. 2017-2019 he was retired. That isn’t the resume of an all decade player

Kobe Bryant tearing his achilles tendon had less to do with his "mutiny" over the offense and more to do with other factors, seemingly omitted from Max Kellerman and COJ144's perspectives.
-Steve Nash broke his leg in the 2nd regular season game and didn't come back until the end of December, and was a shell of himself. (no point guard) His replacement Steve Blake had a torn abdominal at the same time.
-Dwight Howard was still recovering from the back surgery he went through in the summer and was nowhere near what he was for the Magic before or for the Rockets after. (no frontcourt depth)
    - Pau Gasol was battling tendonitis in both knees, throughout the season, limiting his effectiveness.
    - Mike D'Antoni was the 3rd head coach that year, not the 1st. No healthy point guard to run his offense (turmoil in the front office)
Kobe Bryant was the only relatively healthy player for the year, up until the tendon tear. It is possible that he took over the team, but his achilles tore as a by-product of a necessity to do what he had to do to make the playoffs. There were no real outlets. No one to defer to. Just him.

If Steve & Dwight were okay then the 2013 to 2016 Lakers would have been very different. But I do blame the Lakers front office for not getting at least one younger veteran on the team. 4 out 5 starting players if I recall correctly were 34+. They at the very least should have been supported by a younger capable bench. Which they didn't have either.

Watching chronicles videos and thinking about how I used to watch nba games when I was like 10 11 and 12 is crazy. It makes me understand how big of a spell I was under watching Kobe Bryant, I remember people hyping up Kobe saying he's like Michael Jordan and how he's the best in the nba, but it felt like every single game I'm watching this dude he's making nine shots but missing fifteen of them shits, then at the end of the game takes a fadeaway over two people from the right wing extended to shoot an airball and lose the game , then walks off the court scratching his nose while his teammates look like" is it going in?? alright let's go" then the next day in school everybody is acting like he's better than LeBron because he made like 3 jumpshots in a row and got an and one 3 pointer. This shit is witchcraft man😂 it's no way in the fuck you telling me people is this dumb,(I'm joking of course they are but still)

I would have to agree with a majority of the points made in this video. I wouldn't say Kobe didn't have the IQ to utilize his teammates but I think that acumen/discernment/wherewithal is a much better term to use. I liked a lot of the young players the Lakers drafted during Kobe's declining years. From what I witnessed watching Kobe throughout his career, he challenged his teammates to be the best versions of themselves rather than hinder their abilities and special skillsets as players often are when playing alongside the self-proclaimed GOAT, "King" LeBron James. However, I will say the talent and development of Clarkson, Ingram, Nance, Randle and Russell were all stifled in a desperate money grab by the Lakers brass who at the time had no idea what the hell they were doing. It is clear given their current success in the league that playing with Kobe and his valuable mentorship had a positive affect on them. Allegedly.
    Peace.

All decade teams should be based on seasons that started within the decade in discussion.
For example. The "2010's" decade should start at the 2010-11 season, and ends at the 2019-20 season.
That being said, Kobe Bryant doesn't belong in the All-Time 2010 team.

I can agree with that. As much as it hurts, those last 3 years were BRUTAL. That being said, some of these guys were barely in the league in 2010. So the bulk of their acclamation is in a short time frame.
The biggest thing that hurts Kobe is the advanced metrics. This is a relatively new "science"and while I think it's a fine tool, it shouldn't knock a guy down too many pegs because of it as it's still an evolving science.
From an eyeball and skill set and accolades level, Kobe is most definitely a top 10 player. I have him over Duncan personally because in the head to head playoff matchups Kobe was pretty dominate against them. He was clearly the best player in a majority of those series even when Shaq was there.

You know what I find peculiar about the “Kobe jacking up shots” narrative is that he is a career 45% shooter. For him to shoot that percentage given this narrative about his shot selection, ball hogging, missed shots, whatever you want to call it is actually very good. Especially if you factor in his final 2 years where his shooting percentage was hovering in the mid to high 30s. Then compare his career shooting % to his wing contemporaries at the time and he’s either better (AI, TMac, Gilbert, Vince Carter) or slightly behind (Ray Allen, Reggie, Wade). So, while he did shoot a lot bad shots (many of which he was capable of making or were the result of the offense breaking down late in the shot clock and teammates forcing him to shoot with two seconds left) the efficiency argument lacks this nuance at times.

    • @judahmourneth3211
      @judahmourneth3211 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Scott if he’s a career 45-46% shooter that means he’s never shot 50 and over. Which means his highest he’s ever gotten in 46% imagine all the games he’s shot 40 and lower. The man literally misses more than half his shots.

Also I got Kobe #11 alltime but anywhere from 11-15 makes sense. Kobe was second fiddle to Shaq period and was not the smartest basketball player despite his inherent intelligence.
    Top 10 for me are
    MJ
    Kareem
    LeBron
    Russell
    Magic
    Bird
    Shaq
    Duncan
    Hakeem
    Wilt.
6-10 pretty much in any order. LeBron I feel suspect about a lot but the reason why hes so high on my list is because of his peak play which is extremely high statistically, only MJ and Shaq had better statistical peaks....and because he has had amazing longevity and did win 3 titles and 4 MVPs. I do feel some type of way about the superteam thing but I cant deny how dominant he actually was in Miami as a two way player. But I dont hate on people who have him lower. I cant really place him higher though.

What really is the argument for Bird over LeBron? I get that he was a monster and maybe more likable, but he put up worse numbers with much worse defense for less accolades in a less competitive era (because the game wasn't nearly as popular as it is now globally). No one objectively can look at their productions and claim Bird was the superior player. He was great, definitely better in some ways, but as a whole, demonstrably worse.

    • @QuestionEverything562
      @QuestionEverything562 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Bird was a better shooter, passer, rebounder, had higher IQ, and much more clutch. And he could do all that better without the tremendous athleticism LeBron has had. I think LeBron has surpassed Bird in the all-time ranks, but I would take Bird on my all-time starting five over LeBron anyday though. LeBron is just a tremendous rim attacker and very good passer, but he needs certain types of players around him to accentuate his limited skill set. Bird works on any team, so much more versatile.

Kobe is my all-time favorite player and consider him to be as great as any player who has ever played the game--.ie there has never been a better player than Kobe to me ... But I agree that he should have been on the 3rd team at best in the 2010s... while Kobe was still at peak Kobe for 3 seasons in the 2010s-- as he was a shell of himself after he tore his Achilles. As for Tim Duncan, he was also a shell of himself in the 2010s-- so I would have LaMarcus over him ... and most definitely consider Kobe the superior player over Duncan. As for most emotional fans - that goes to Lebron fans.

I don't see a huge argument in favour of wilt unless you place a heavy value on his stats. Someone who almost every NBA great support his legacy. Your are a hater simple as that, own it. Why want you just show the videos of Larry Birds highlights instead of bashing someone whos clearly greater that your chosen all time great. You putting too much energy in the hate you have for this man. You probably beat off on Larry Bird posters, man do something better with yo time than showing how great a hater you can be. As you say "you have a whole lotta feminine energy" for Bird, and against Bryant. I just give credit where credit is do I don't think that Kobe is the greatest player to ever play the game, but I will give the credit that he deserves and any other great. I think Larry Bird was a very great player and was well deserving of being in the hall of fame, but he wasn't better than Kobe. You can't get NBA players to agree with that idiocracy nor can you find stats to support it. So instead you try to over exaggerate your own personal opinion and hope by using enough big words, that your viewers will believe your some kind of expert, when you're just an over opinionated hater, with a broad vocabulary. His criticisms of Kobe are valid as even Phil Jackson has stated these same flaws. The top list is stacked and you could make a legit argument for them over Kobe as players. Larry Bird in his prime was right there with Magic and he could do almost everything on the court at a high level without having the personality traits that make him a detriment to his team. The empirical data does not support Kobe as a top 10 player but you people emotionalize your love for him so much that you neglect the tangible data that he was not as good as his peers
