    Can I just say that you simply doing reactions like this means a lot to me for one. BTS is something that my friends and family do not understand (and in some ways I am OK with that. I feel like if they understood my love for BTS and their music, I might reveal more of my soul than I intend. Sharing music that moves you can make you feel vulnerable sometimes). Your reactions present a medium through which I can enjoy BTS with a community that GETS it. Also I always appreciate your insight on the music and production side of things!

    I just wanted to mention that BTS helps me every single day in my life. I have Reflex Sympathetic Distrophy Syndrome (RSDS) in my arms and legs. It has a nickname of suicide Syndrome because there is no cure and the slightest touch or even a sheet can cause severe unending pain. The only medical management is pain pills and other medications to stop nerve pain. However levels are always having to be increased because the body becomes accustomed to the levels. Since BTS has been in my life the past six years, I was able to lower some meds with the help of their music being therapy for me. I listen to them almost 24/7 and sometimes, on the worst of nights I even let the music play softly to help me get sleep.
    There are some songs, especially by Suga that reaches through my husband's dementia and finds pathways for him to interact with us. Then my daughter is high functioning autistic and specialized in music. They help her deal with the anxiety, stresses and problems of the world at large.
    BTS has become an integral part of our family and all I have to give is my love, respect, appreciation, support, and prayers for a safe, healthy and happy life. Thank you BTS for everything 💜 🙏🤗🇺🇲🙏💜

Then when we get angry and go after them,couse they provoked us, they call us "toxic and obsessed screaming teen girls" that just love bts couse they're handsome (if not insult their look of course) :) that's pretty much the exact world we lived as an army . I am listening over on Twitch too, but I had to come back here to comment. You touched on such an important point...trying to explain the magic of BTS to others. To be honest I have stopped trying because it's such a complicated thing and to anyone without a deep interest, you could never explain it. I am older (in my 60s) and I find many in my age group (especially older men) to be highly closed minded. They hear the 3 english songs (out of a discography of several hundred songs) and write them off as another pop boyband. I hear all the time "those Asian guys?", "those girly looking kids?", "those gay guys?"...it disgusts me to the point I stopped trying to explain it and just feel sorry for those who won't get to experience the magic on the level I have. I bite my tongue a lot, but what I am thinking is "I don't have the crayons to explain it to you"...ugh. Thanks for taking the time to explore BTS and really getting to know them. I always appreciate your reactions.

      @@Waveeee1004 I was hoping that it was simply an age thing and that younger generations would be much more accepting, but I guess it's just people in general being close minded...ugh. Yea to OG ARMY...if it wasn't for the fans from the early days helping to get them where they are today, many of us wouldn't have had the wonderful experience of finding them now...so thank you!

      I appreciate your comment. I'm 61 and my husband is supportive but doesn't understand either. My youngest son and daughter in law actually bought me a BTS t-shirt and the livestream for one of their concerts as a gift even though they are not ARMY, they do like BTS. Since their latest concerts in the US, I've discovered so many female friends who are ARMY and I didn't even know until they posted of their experiences at PTD LA! I was happy I was able to go to the Cinema showing of the Seoul concert with one of them, which help me to appreciate being able to discuss my love for BTS with someone beside on TH-cam comments!

    • @TaylorCanada8
      @TaylorCanada8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@fy3845 I'm happy for you that your family is at least supportive, even if it's not their thing. My best friend accompanied me to the theater to see the Seoul concert..she is not ARMY, but supports my addiction...lol. I am excited to be going to my first BTS concert in Vegas and will be meeting up with the only online ARMY I have become close with since discovering BTS late in 2019. Some day I will meet an "ARMY in the Wild" in my area I hope. I have BTS decals all over my car and BTS tattoos...call of the wild...lol. I understand what you mean about discussing BTS in comments...I think it is why we love the reaction channels so much. It gives us a sense of community and a feeling of watching their talents with others who appreciate them.

    It's so interesting that ARMYs think that BTS do way more for us than we do for them but BTS always say that ARMYs do more for them than they do for us. It's such a mutual give and take that's done out of love and appreciation.

  • @yunicorn5168
    @yunicorn5168 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    I think today's episode solidified you as an army, if there was anybody doubting still, including yourself. You got mad as we all did, you even started not vibing with calling BTS a boyband, because you can feel like that's an understatement... I've been watching your vids for a long time now and it's nice to see your progress, honestly :D You most likely had doubts at the beginning but you've let BTS and army into your life and now you look so proud of our boys as any other army and it makes me so happy.
    It always pisses me off when people undermine my infatuation with BTS as some sort of a craze but it's not, it's more than that and people outside the army won't ever understand that. I think BTS have made me a better person, broadened my horizons and ideas about the world and people (sadly, as many people I grew up parroting my parents' views until my late teens but I finally began changing them and BTS were a huge part of that.) I'm still not perfect but certainly trying and again, BTS are a huge reason for that change so I'm really grateful for them for everything

    You know what’s interesting, in the 80s a lot of hair bands wore animal pattern tights, make up, ruffles, had long hair with hair spray which was okay. Ask your friends if they listened to any of those groups. Metallica, Poison, Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Cinderella the list goes on interesting no? I’m curious what’s the difference. Just saying.
    When I watch them bow that low and for a good period it makes me emotional. They are showing such deep respect for Army. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

    Without too many spoilers there are no heavy metal albums (yet) but there are very heavy solo tracks and some heavy rock OT7 as well. BUT I have noticed of late a rock vibe coming out of Big Hit with TXT releases(their latest actually reminds me of some Iron Maiden, obviously with their own twist) and also Enyhpen. So who knows what the next comeback may bring. Suga seems to really enjoy strings and brass and keyboards in his more recent productions, which is a hair's breadth from metal and satisfying to the heavy metal sensibilities. You may convert your friends yet.

    50:00 - "I cannot wait to see this whole performance." - Just wanted to return here & comment on this. The concert is up on SeoTaiji's youtube channel & it is 2.5 hours long. It's called "Time Traveler 25". I would love to see you react to it, all of it. However, I am unsure of any copyrights. BTS, being only a featured artist, only really have their performance at the first quarter of the show. But anyway, just remember, KPop started with Taiji, however inadvertent & it was, so that means that BTS would not have formed, nor would all of the 400+ KPop bands, in the last 3 decades, if it wasn't for him. This also includes many KRock bands that formed after him, because Taiji was obviously influential there too. That may also include any JRock (Japan) bands that may have formed & influenced by Taiji during his musical career beginning in the 1980's. I hope you react to Time Traveler. Maybe you don't have to show all your reactions, only some snippets here & there, to shorten your reaction video, although a full 2.5-hour reaction would be preferred. The only issue is that the show does not have any subtitles, including in English, as it was probably only marketed to SK and/or subtitle editing just means more work. Good luck & I hope you see this comment.

    I've been slowly introducing Seo Taiji to the Gaijin Guys youtube channel. They are 4 separate rock/metal music reactors that have come together to do this podcast channel on a regular basis for months now. They do Japanese rock (JRock) music reactions. They came together initially because they all love Band-Maid in common, which you also have done reactions to. I would love to invite you to their podcast as a guest. I too would like to see BTS do some more rock music. It's hard to say though. Perhaps their only "channel" & initiative to do that might have to be with Taiji again. I too have referenced "Classroom Idea" song at their channel. Champ the Medium, one of the guys, also likes BTS & have done many reactions to the boys for a few years now. Also, please react to Seo Taiji "Feel the Soul" music video. It's a classic from 2 decades ago.

    Omg you are sooo not alone in this. We do not like the kpop label slapped on them. Or boy band. I think it’s the wrong idea of whom they are. But we also constantly have the same discussion. They come from kpop but they aren’t JUST kpop. They a band of boys but are JUST a boy band. They are so much more than 2 two terms. These are descriptions but definitely they don’t quite describe who they are
    The biggest problem is that people use those label to try to put them in boxes. And that rubs us the wrong way the most

    You know what you can do, just keep doing what you are doing now. You are doing great Jim, just be honest, but respectful, like you are. If something isnt your taste or your not feeling the music it okay, there are some Bts songs that are not my taste and thats okay too. Stay safe!!

    Saddest thing about people who sh** on BTS that they always resort to xenophobia, racist comments and homophobia. I am so done with American/ Western media in general resorting to racism to hate on BTS or rather they hate BTS, because BTS are Asian.

I did know about the Sewol accident. I am sorry you were not aware of it. I felt the same way when I watched it Anyway, thank you for your honesty. Be well, stay safe...💜
    Ps. I have liked Bts since 2016 and their Wing album is my favorite also. Fell in love with "Lie" which was written by Jimin.

    I love BTS, but the backstreet boys actually did and do write a lot of their music. Also, the choreography standards nowadays are much higher. If BSB had come out at the same time as BTS, they probably would have been doing stuff more similar to BTS. I don't know if they could have reached the same level of achievement, but they surely would have been fierce competitors. There's no need to put down one group to elevate the other.

    The Seo in Seo Taji is pronounced kind of similar to Suh. In Korean they spell the letter 어 in Roman letters as eo to differentiate it from 오: O (oh) and 우: U (ooh as on pool) but it really sounds more like a cross between and O and a U.

    The problem is toxic masculinity and unconscious or conscious racism and xenophobia.
    Calling Asian men feminine is a common racist trope. Not recognizing cultural differences in masculinity standards as valid is xenophobia/racism.
    People can be (and more often are) racist without realizing that they are racist. It’s absorbed with culture unconsciously. US culture is colonial and so it has lots of racism issues baked in. It’s also very toxically masculine. It’s tough to get through those acculturated biases. The fact that you have is a testament to your character and your emotional intelligence. My husband loves BTS and is a Jimin bias.

    i think you're right, it is a toxic masculinity thing. i just wish i could tell those men that it's okay to listen to bts. or anything else that's feminine. it's okay to be emotional, it's okay to find happiness in something that isn't the norm "masculine."

  • @marlypea

    You kinda reacted to that art on RM's intsa the same way those people reacted to BTS. "That's not art" "that creeps me out" just saying. But when you said "I don't like that," I thought oh ok I like it but everyone has their own tastes.

And then when armys defend bts left and right and clapbacking them suddenly theyll say "armys are so toxic"... like what on earth will they expect us to react when they said all those stuffs to our boys who did nothing but inspire ppl?
