      You may not have much wind where you live, but I wanted to ask did you anchor it in any way? It's a narrow and high shed. Great video by the way.

    Lucky bonus of the overhanging wall is that as it finishes below the floor lowers chance of water ingress :)

    Super smart idea adding those screws at the bottom to keep your panel level and keeping it a one person show!

  • @cjzx325

    Looks great! The overhang at the bottom of the side panel is preferred to help lock the walls to the floor and keep water from seeping in at the bottom.

    I enjoyed your build and thought you were thorough and very good at explaining each step. I would use pressure treated for the skids as they appear to have some ground contact. In our area termites will find that wood very quickly. Also, we have clay soils which move quite a bit with changes in moisture content. A slightly deeper foundation dig might help. Having said that, small sheds are still use-able even if they move! Thanks for your great video!

    Very nice shed, but as a carpenter, you would drive me nuts with over measuring especially for square. If you cut all your joists the same length for your floor, your factory edges of you plywood will get it square. Its nice to see you take a lot of pride in your work though. I've just been doing this stuff commercially for so long that I kind of just slam it together.

      Process of thinking the same! Did you find out in your area is it cheaper to build or buy? I shop around and for me it’s about $2000 to buy a kit. I already have all the tools needed so it’s just all material costs for me plus the experience I may gain from it could be worth while.

    I'm not a professional but what is anchoring the shed to the ground? Surely if you have really strong winds, that thing will lift and move?

    • @marcelimarilag
      @marcelimarilag 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      that shed is roughly a ton or more depending on what's stored inside. Not enough overall wall dimension for strong winds to move it. Unless it's a tornado it should be fine.

    • @davidkoeppen3121
      @davidkoeppen3121 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on where you live you just can't build a shed on your property for this very reason. I live in florida and even sheds have to be built to withstand 150 mph winds so extra rafter anchoring and hurricane straps are legally necessary so you aren't building a 1 ton missile come hurricane season.

  • @MAGAMAN
    @MAGAMAN 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Most of those screws you pu tin the floor were wasted. Screwing the bottom plates down will attach the floor to the perimeter of the floor to the base. Seeing as this is just a small shed, a single screw in the center of the floor is probably more than enough, as long as toy don't have massive water leakage into the shed.
