Wow she was/is a legend. Would love to hear you guys do a full cover version. Angelina covered this on the beach with her little sister dancing and her Grandmother filming they were having fun. She also covered Back to Black and Rehab and she rewrote the lyrics for those two songs because her mum decided the words inappropriate.

She was great, yes. And your cover is fantastico! Espectaculare! (Sorry, the Italiano is faked up, because nao falo that lengua, for now, anyway.) It's good that your version is different. It means the song is good enough to live further lives as authentic expressions of all the music in other people - like your good self, for instance.
Another thing: I had my head down when that Cort fired up, and I thought right away, "I wonder if that's the Cort?" It also has a good voice. I'm even starting to wonder whether Cort didn't do a secret custom job on that guitar, specifically aimed at making it just right for Sean.

(If you don't like the music or the darkness of it all, just mute it and see what you think of the make-up. You prob know this but Amy uses major 7ths in the root (start of verse) and in the 4th (start of chorus). The original was by The Zutons which was good. But Amy took it to another level.
You mentioned a couple of times how she has a casual vibe. When she sings Tears Dry On Their Own she sounds like she just stumbled into the studio as the band started playing, tripping over her stilettos and clutching her beehive - singing perfectly as she does so

Seriously (is there any other way?) to get to the roots of Amy's singing stylisations ns phrasing, check out Julie London... 1950's torch singer with a deep sultry voice and whispery phrasing. She was American but maybe because of the name (!) she was huge in Britain and I'm sure Amy heard her a lot growing up. Listen and l'm sure you'll hear it too.

Amy is one of my all time favs! The path she took so so sad. In this video she is skinny, her hair is that silly boof, she has the goofy makeup on and appears stoned to the max. We've seen and heard her do much better before. Brilliant interpretation but if you want to make a stamp, write poetic songs about modern problems and release them as originals.
Amy WInehouse is in second place to Janis Joplin. Both had tremendous talent and both didn't give a damn about it. They just lived their lives and they were destructive as they wanted to be. No excuses for their behavior and both willing to pay the ultimate price. I saw Janis Joplin live on several occasions and haven't seen anyone close to her since that time. Maybe Taylor Swift or Dimash or BTS. Sorry, as a boomer I just had to make fun of what passes for music these days. I ended my comment to soon. Andrea and sean you sound GREAT on that short sample.

Spot on. There are certain qualities great artists have that is internal. I have seen Janis Joplin, and many of her contemporaries. Linda Ronstadt, Grace Slick, Joni Mitchell, Mama Cass, Joan Armatrading, Annie Lennox, Susan Tedeschi, et. Al. they all have it. It comes out in performance. The cover here is very nice, but lacks the soul and grit of Amy’s rendition. Listen to Sara Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald. On the males side, think Bono, Tom Jones, Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, etc. I can go on all day. It’s a combination of nature and nurture that all the singing competitions in the world can’t teach. You got to feel it Daniel-sun.
