Glad to see the old course looking so good. I built the 5th and 6th holes in 1988, the ordinal tees for the 6th hung off the edge of the cliff, quite sad to see it’s falling away from erosion. They came into play in 1989 and replaced the old 7th and 14th holes, removed because you would have to tee off the 8th and 15th over the greens, changed to speed up the pace of play, even a thing in 1988. Lee can ask Gary Dyer all about it, he’ll remember it well. Loving the Whitsand Bay blogs btw, lots of happy memories from there.
I can understand why it's Lee's home course. Absolutely stunning, you've got your work cut out breaking par. Roll on part 2.
I feel Lee’s pain here. Whenever I tell people I’ve been playing well before a round I always promptly fall flat on my face 🤣

We play here regularly, and whilst a beautiful setting, the conditions can be brutal. I’ve left the 18th deaf due to the wind, and also seen playing partners want walk off the course after 5 unforgiving holes. In the summer however, and with no wind, it’s a stunner! One of the toughest courses we play. Love the video. Lee smashes that putter!! Thx Dan 👍🏻
Lee your struggling on camera that’s fine. It’s still watchable content if you keep trying and stay positive. Let your personality show, please lose the negativity. If you keep telling us, (and yourself )you don’t have a short game then your going to find it really hard to find one. We can’t all be Tiger but we can all still enjoy the game……👍

That third hole is just so cool to look at and know the story! I’d be nervous being on that 6th green wondering if today’s the day is slides into the sea! Great views on a tough course!

What a tough course. Would be unplayable in the Summer at times I should think. Fairways beautifully manicured and greens in good condition for so early in the season. Decent score for you Dan.

Lee got super lucky on the first… the ball looks like it pitched and dived deep into the bushes on the full in the video… but luckily bounced back out!

Real golf on tough days. Just shows you how tough this game really is. Sometimes I get back from days on the golf course and wonder what the hell I'm doing playing this silly game!

Do you have to be average at golf to get PGA qualifed these days...?
I heard that Ian Poulter was a 2 or 3 handicap when he turned pro as a playing pro. Crazy what can happen when you practice the right things, but I think Lee is a little hard headed.
I think Poults turned Pro off 4 but worked extremely hard to get it moving 👌

Winter rules only went off this week because it’s been so wet
I’m a big fan of doing what you want on social rounds. As long as you all agree before you start, crack on. If mud spoils your enjoyment… sort it.
If you want to find out how good you are at golf, play a links course in the wind. Doesn't matter if its not very long - it will find you out very quickly. The really long ones will kill your scorecard and probably take a good part of your soul with them. Shows how amazingly talented the Tour Pros are when they play the Open. Tough conditions gentlemen.

There is a playing test but I think it is over a few seasons rather than the two rounds I had to do 👍

Hahahahaha. The big man is a smiling lovable chap. Always enjoy the vlogs when he is on but my goodness, he is a chopper. I'd love to see a video on how he can become a pro, I clearly don't know the criteria.

Haven't watched this yet but I'm guessing Lee cards a 85 or higher. No trees for the big man to take out with the ball though which is sad.
