      Well.....All of the above is correct. But I think you all forgot to mention Urdu language. Urdu uses a lot of Persian words in their vocabulary and on the colloquial level, it is difficult to differentiate between colloquial Hindi and Urdu. Persian, Arabic and Turkish words came into the language during the reign of the Mughals as Natsu mentioned. The literary Hindi has more Sanskrit words. Please note that the Persian used in colloquial Hindi is more poetic than the Farsi language of today.

      Urdu is an independent language which was made by mixing Hindi language with Persian language. Urdu means 'camp'. when Nader Shah (Afshar) set his forth in modern day pk there the hindi speaking indians and persian speaking iranians mingled and a thir language was creates. today urdu like persian has a lot of arabic words in it.

    I grew up watching Hindi films and having Indian friends my entire life. To this day my two best friends are Indian. Well not from India but Indian non the less. They speak Sarnami: the watered down version of Hindi in my country and real Hindi. To be reading the words i've been hearing all my life puts a smile on my face. It is a fun language.

      If you are teaching hindi, at the risk of sounding a bit pedantic, please make sure to distinguish hindi and urdu words. This is also maybe a general comment to hindus to learn the difference and inculcate more of authenticity rather than confused language, confused culture and confused nation everwhere.
      Khushi is urdu
      prasannata is hindi.
      so using khushi can be called Hindustani at best but don't create confusion esp for new learners by calling it hindi !

      No you're mistaken. Hindi is the national language of India,🙏🙋💪👋🇮🇳

      Navdeep Singh sorry hindi is not the national language of india. India has no national language..but has 22 official languages. That's why india is called unity in diversity.

      boxer boxer hey we are ever taught that Hindi is our national language that is why it is taught all over India, and it is politically declared as well as it is mentioned in the constitution also that Hindi is our national language

    • @boxerboxer4050
      @boxerboxer4050 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Navdeep Singh you were taught wrong... Atleast search Google about national language of india. You will find that india has no national language.

    • @boxerboxer4050
      @boxerboxer4050 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Navdeep Singh it is sad that many Indians don't even have a basic knowledge about india. A national language is a language spoken by an entire nation. Hindi is not spoken by the entire nation. Eg) in South india and some North Eastern states. Get your facts right bro

    Thanks for this, I am a native Gujarati speaker born in America but never really learned Hindi. I always found it depressing when my parents took me to Bollywood films and I had to read the subtitles

    • @MR-dy1ey

      +simpsiano123 Hello simpsiano123,
      Yes Hindi is a tonal language and it does make a difference in the meaning depending on the tone.
      For example we could say 'yeh achha hai!' and 'yeh achha hai?.
      Both are same sentences while one is interjection and the other being interrogation.
      Hope this helps!
      Cheers,
      Neha

      No. None of the Indo-European languages are tonal. A few non-Indo-European languages example, Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai are tonal.

    • @sun4502
      @sun4502 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That is not what a tonal language is . In tonal languages like Mandarin the complete meaning of the word changes, like from say 'cow' to 'desk'. Hindi is not a tonal language. None of the Indo-European languages are tonal.

      +Permafrost - What I've read says that Punjabi is a tonal language. Is this not so?
      Also, many languages in subsarahan Africa and the Americas are tonal.
