To all my foreign friends out here, I am giving y'all a small advice. Indians always mix English and Hindi and it's really not a problem if sometimes you started speaking English. @@bojanav.7051 Nobody speaks entirely in Hindi. In formal or business settings people speak English. Common phrases such as thank you, sorry, hello, excuse me, bye etc are understood by almost all of the Indians especially the younger gen. Hindi + English mixed (80% hindi +20% english) is used in informal/normal communication. You can learn that best from cartoons in Hindi. (Someone actually mentioned they learnt from there and I think thats a brilliant idea). You can level up by songs and movies in Hindi. Hindi channels here are good for vocabulary and they tell you how to say a certain word or phrases but in reality people speak with their own accent/ regional accent and slangs.
I am an Englishman living in England and I'm learning Hindi. I love speaking Hindi and I think it's a beautiful sounding language. My favourite part of speaking Hindi is the look on Indian faces when I greet and thank them in Hindi. Namaste phir milenge.

I am married to an Indian, before marriage i have slowly2 started to get familiar with Hindi words such as greeting. And I'm just trying to remember a few of my Hindi recollections, i can even sing a Hindi song too. Now that we are married, i am trying to upgrade my Hindi vocabulary as my in-laws can't really speak English. And i would really want to communicate with them.
Just recognise the Script of Hindi and the sounds for each letter so you can read it. Pronounce it, Read it then write it you'll learn it. Hindi is fairly easy and quick to learn
I have recently moved into a neighborhood that has a large Hindi population. I am so impressed with how peaceful and kind they are but still very guarded. I have always wanted to learn the language and this seems like such a fun and easy way to learn. I am thankful for these lessons and can't wait to speak it very soon.

So, first of all, if u think Indians are not open, u need to know how many of us are like that. I can assure you that u will never be able to know, coz we are all very different. U can find people as straightforward as me while u can find very silent, conservative ones as well. It's a very mixed bag here. So do remember that. I mean, u might think many dont open up becoz they fear criticism, but there are so many who simply dont give a crap about what foreigners think and they are very proud people. Where I live part time not all speak it. So you dont have to roll your eyes. Why would I comment of I didnt know what I was saying. The people who surround me on a daily basis in India DONT SPEAK ENGLISH and not everyone does. Just like not every Indian speaks Hindi 🙄 learn before commenting.

And I'm just trying to remember a few of my Hindi recollections, i can even sing a Hindi song too.
Now that we are married, i am trying to upgrade my Hindi vocabulary as my in-laws can't really speak English.
And i would really want to communicate with them.
Just recognise the Script of Hindi and the sounds for each letter so you can read it. Pronounce it, Read it then write it you'll learn it. Hindi is fairly easy and quick to learn
Don't worry,learning hindi isnt a big deal once you crack the basics

I visited Delhi in 1972 . I am a Malaysian of Indian origin. The Delhites refused to speak in English to me (as I appeared Indian to them ) Hindi was alien as Greek was to me . Within one week I was able to understand and communicate a bit in Hindi . It was like learning to swim as a result of being pushed in to the pool .
Actually being a Malaysian Tamil I found that Hindi had many common words with Tamil and Malay .. .. yes Malay
yes because hindi is direct descendent of Sanskrit and we know the similarities between Sanskrit and Tamil.
I found the culture of India very fascinating and the people I know are respectful and kind that makes me want to learn hindi.

Recently started looking at learning some Hindi (Irish, now living in London, so Hindi is all around me). These small lesson are so beautifull yput together, explaining the grammer throughout and showing Hindi and a Roman-style pronounciation. So glad I found this!

Where I live part time not all speak it. So you dont have to roll your eyes. Why would I comment of I didnt know what I was saying. The people who surround me on a daily basis in India DONT SPEAK ENGLISH and not everyone does. Just like not every Indian speaks Hindi 🙄 learn before commenting.

I had a chance to play in a Bollywood film if I had learned Hindi properly. So, I'm giving it a try. I already understand 90% of the words, but never had a dialogue with anyone in Hindi. Basically, I'm trying to bridge between the gaps. I wish everyone else who's trying to learn the language as well all the best 🙏🤞👍
