I ordered this kit for a 2014 4Runner limited, the only difference is you don’t have to take the glove box out and run a wire over to that side, got this done in under 20 MINUTES! works great and it saved me $480.00 from what one of the local dealers was charging to add remote start. Got mine today for my 2021 TRD ORP. Took about 1hr and video was very helpful. Just wish that the vehicle would stay running when you open the door but the factory remote start does the same thing. Way better than no remote start.
That's great to hear! Yeah you push to start folks don't have it as good as us G key (regular key) people. My 2017 stays running when I open the door, but on push to start you need it to keep someone from stealing your ride (busting window and taking off)
Great video, but can make it A LOT easier on yourself feeding the wire through to the glovebox. Just disconnect the small white plug (it’s a quick connect plug) and feed the small end from the passenger side to the drivers side and then plug it back in. Much easier than forcing the 2 large plugs through.

i installed this step by step. and I mean every screw or step i paused and did it Then watched for the next, i cant even remote lock the car now , what did i do wrong? its a SR5 premium with push start and the remote is exactly like yours
I have the smart Key on my 2020 TRD Off Road. Does the remote start for that model require you to remove all the console \ glove box components as well. Or is that only for the push to start version.
Help please! Installed 100% by the directions on 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD ORP and programmed. When press the lock button 3 times it just gives me a long beep and if you listen to it inside it sounds like a bunch of clicks. Super weird.
Give Accessorides a call during business hours. They will be able to get it sorted. Likely a reset of the module. Worst case they will send you a new module. Google their name and Customer Service Phone line and you will get them. Won't take long to get it figured out 👍

Thank you! I'm glad it helped you out. I normally zip tie and 3m tape the controller box to directly behind the left panel on the metal bracket piece. Hope that makes sense. Just get it snug somewhere so it doesn't rattle and it's fine
Great job on the video! I am probably going to install this kit this weekend. Our 4Runner has the OEM hood pin and the dash chimes when the hood is up. So, I don't need the aftermarket hood pin switch that came in the kit. But, Do I have to attach the extra orange and black wire to anything? The instructions seem vague about the hood pins and I am a little unsure.
I got a 2018 limited runner push start. My kit came with only 2 connections. The one underneath the steering wheel and the one on the left panel. No obd 2 connection(is the kit missing it). Now I got the phone app version and can’t seem to program it to get it to work. My oem key fob works but the the app. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time in this matter.

So upon unlocking the door, does the vehicle still shut off? Coming from a 17 that I put this kit on and all I had to do was insert key and turn the key to accessories/not fully cranking and vehicle stayed on upon unlocking it as well. On my 21 with push button start trying to see if it’s still how the OEM system is, turning on then turning off upon unlocking. If so I’ll just save my money..
I would have to look back, but pretty sure the metal rod that the knob attaches to came out as well. If it stayed on the dash then it would make sense as to why to remove it. Hope that makes sense
Yes. The kit works as far as your key remote reaches now. It uses the same signal, so that will not change. See if you can lock and unlock your car from where you want it to remote start

Question not related to this video but...do you have any recommendations on how to raise the sitting height of the front passenger seat? My driver seat is full power (including height adjustment) but the frt passenger seat only powers forward & backward and seat back tilt (but no height adjustment). Thanks!!!

After installing on my 2020 Off Road Premium the high beam lights (regular and auto function) stopped working. The high beam flash still functions. I have rechecked my installation against this video and everything looks the same. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to correct?
That's new to me. I'll let others chime in. Have you tried flipping the way you have the lights plugged in at the harness? That reverses the polarity and may help.
Not with this keyless model. Opening the door turns it off. You can with the regular (G key) models as the door does not turn it off, but you still have to insert the key first. It's a needed safety feature unfortunately (or is it fortunately?)

I haven't tested work arounds unfortunately. I don't own the truck I installed this in or I would. Please keep me posted if you figure it out and I will do the same for you
In my 2022 I hid it behind the support structures to the right of the steering column. Take care not to restrict the tilt/telescoping steering wheel mechanics.

2022 TRD Off road with an N in the VIN. Everything worked great! The only challenge was that unlike the great video, there was an extra 10 mm bolt on the lower right of the glove box that I had to find in order to remove the glove box to access the grey plug.
EDIT: got it, expand replies ------------------------------------------- In my '22 I can't get the bottom panel under my glovebox off to get to the final 10mm bolt after removing the first two. In your video it's just the two 10mm holding the bottom panel but on mine there's a slot with a hook facing down to take the weight off the bolts. So it makes pulling it straight down impossible.
@@BtwilliasGarage I had to remove the clips from the top of that rectangular piece of plastic directly to the right of the two 10mms, and by the door jamb, then I had enough leeway to tilt the assembly forward and slide it up out of the hook. Then when I was putting it back together I forgot to put the hook back in before I bolted it all back, so I had to unbolt it and rehook it then bolt it again lmao
@@BtwilliasGarage also for anyone else reading this, I used the trim tool to pop the little center tray thing out next to the cupholder and it is open underneath and made feeding the wire across a lot easier
I emailed them asking if a 22 ORP needed the glove to be taken apart and all they said is to follow paper instructions lol. Paper instructions give nothing on taking apart the glove box BUT long 34 telematic interrupt states it's behind the glove box. The step before this is on 30 pin connector. I don't want to do a unnecessary step If I don't have to. Shitty they don't have a phone number to call.
@Peter_Joseph to my understanding...push to start requires the glovebox connector. Regular key does not. They do have a number. Google Accessorides support phone line and you will find it
I can't remember the exact harness name that it plugs in to, but on the 2020 4runners it is a required cable that used to be on the driver side on the 2019 priors. I'll find out later the name, but it's a non skipable step
@@junnijune6597 I don't have the directions on hand to see the exact name of that harness, but I would bet that it allows the remote start system to tap in to and bypass the security system since the other 2 piggy back harnesses are the starter and the obd2
Yes since it is push to start. The regular G keys do not, but requires the key to be inserted before you push the brake to put it in drive or it will. It's so someone doesn't steal it

Will the engine shutoff when you open the door with this kit?
Yes I believe it does on this kit to prevent theft. The traditional G key kits do not since you must insert the key to drive

You could but it's not as good. It turns off when you open the door and this one does not for the G key

I think this is for the stock remote start from manufacturer. Aftermarket options seem to bypass the power down with door opening.
