Great value for sure. I feel Timex needs to promote all their watches as much as they promote their collaborations, which in turn sell out within hours.
Timex really needs to promote this and not count on watchcris to do all the heavy lifting 😀 one question- Timex refers to a ceramic lunette on their website. What the heck is that? Apparently a lunette is a crescent or half moon shape and refers to architecture. Doesn't really sound like bezel.
I was on the fence about a few dive watches $500 and under. I ended up with the Timex based on this review. Great looking watch and lots of compliments. People could not believe it was a Timex. It doesn't seem as large as some people think, I have a 7.5 wrist and it still sits in between my wrist width.
Timex making a "legit" dive watch nice. They should have ISO Certified it as well haha. 44mm is a big watch. I agree at 40mm this thing would sell very well. Hopefully this is just the beginning. Timex has been doing some great things.
Well done Timex. Finally an automatic from Timex without QC issues. I owned three Timex watches all made in the Philippines including an Automatic all broke within two years. I just hope this is a new beginning for a durable watch.. Nice review Cris.
That is an attractive watch. When you think dive watch designs are exhausted, someone comes up with a new but sensible design. I don't mind the size, but I think you're right about them selling more if it were several millimeters smaller.
Hey Chris, Thank you for the video and all the info about it. I am living in Australia and our prices are generally higher than the US recommended retail. On Timex website it’s coming up as $625 Aud. I signed up for the email list and got 15% off. I bought it for $531 Aud. So the first buyer discount is definitely applicable for this one. Great value and I certainly wouldn’t know about it on my own , it went way under the radar. Thank you mate, appreciate it your work! Timex should thank you as well! 😊
Nice to see timex making a watch like this. Love the bsnd and crystal. Hate the cyclops and size. When will the extra large watch trend just die already. I don't want to be smacking my watch every time I use my hands. 36mm to 38mm is all anyone really needs or wants.
@ 44mm I imagine they were going for a "Dive Watch"...not a Dress Dive Watch. I have been wearing Dive watches daily for 40 years, and have owned over a dozen. 42 is my smallest, which I consider the bare minimum . My Brother & Sister are certified Divers and they told me in their circles that 44 mm, even up to 46 mm is considered normal for the Sport. Anything smaller is still legit for diving, and in the sales realm by far the most popular, but is really a "Dress Diver"...42mm does seem to be the sweet spot for a modern diver (Seiko/Citizen/Phoibos) and several micro brands.
99.9% of divers (I made that stat up) wear a dive computer on one wrist and a mechanical on the other. Because you never know, and I've never, knock on wood, had a mechanical watch fail me. Computers on the other hand....
After going through the specs I was expecting you to say it was a £500 watch but at under 500 that's amazing value for money. I want one. Good for Timex for bringing it out. 👍
Hi, Chris. I got my red Tiburon (I do like it!) and are a bit dissapointed by the luminance of the hands. During the first minute they are as bright as the indexes, but with every minute they dim faster. So after 5 minutes the hands are barely visible and the indexes are still very bright. Is it the same with your Tiburon or do I have a faulty one?
The quality looks amazing for the price!!! 44mm is perfect for me, I wouldn’t want a smaller watch unless it was a dress watch. Others may only want 40mm.
Its a Rolex style ceramic bezel and case, with a Casio Duro 12oclock marker, with the Seiko 5 handset. A bracelet would be nice. Beautiful bezel and a simple design.
I purchased this watch (red version) and really enjoy the way it feels on my wrist. Although, it's 44mm, doesn't feel large or clunky and I have slim wrists. I also think it's very fashionable - it has a nice "pop" effect. My one and only criticism is with the band (see 7:30 description). When you slide the band (excess) underneath, I have a hard time trying to get it all the way through; therefore, the band bunches up between the keeper and the slot. Chris, I noticed that you are using the 5th punch hole and I use the 1st punch hole.
Chris, great review. I like this watch. I have the Auto Navi Timer it reminds me of it. Timex has been improving their watches. Lets split the difference, 41mm!
Just received mine. Looks good, even on a small 6in wrist. You might think it would look goofy but no, it sits well on the wrist. The silicon band is not bad, but really not my first choice. Lume is good: still visible after a few hours and it reloads quickly as soon as a little light is available. As mentioned, the rotor is quite loud when moving the wrist. And accuracy, in this instance, is unfortunately not great. It is quick by about 30 seconds per day. I'll check if Timex can either adjust it or send me another one that’s properly adjusted. To be continued…
So tempted to try it out but I have a small 6.25” wrist and a 40-42mm is usually edge of comfort zone…any bigger and looks kindof silly with the lugs hanging off the edges of my wrist. Which colour did you go with?
@@frederickcheng351 I had the black one. Returned it in the end: expected better accuracy and coherent lume at this price point: dial markers stay lit for hours… but the hands disappear after about 30 minutes. Time becomes unreadable after 30 minutes in the dark. At least Timex Canada return policy is ok: it covers the shipping. So, you can buy ir, try it on for size, then return it if it is too large or does not fit. It sat well on my 6inch wrist: lugs did not hang off the edges. But everyone’s morphology is different. Good luck with QC if you buy it, I hope you'll get a well-regulated one.

I'm a Timex fan but the cost of over $300 is a little high considering I just purchased a Citizen pro diver for $244. I also have the Casio Duro which is rated for 200 meters, $70. Then the Invector Pro diver watch for $60, have all three and like all three.
Nice watch border line on size though, Would be nice if it was iso too. Also would it scratch and show up etc. My first watch was a Timex I remember then getting a indigo night light version in the 90"s I currently have 3 Inc the weekender. Lunette is french for bezel in horologie.
@@ichimango8063 Thanks for that. You would think Timex could be a little more clear on their website.
Technically speaking a lunette is a bezel that does not move, i.e. a fixed bezel - like the Explorer II for instance.
Good thing Timex isn't technically correct in their description. A fixed bezel would be a tragic mistake.@@filmaelculdetomare

It is only an 8 series movement so 500 would be way too much.

To me the size is perfect I love 42 ish diameter. Timex is killing it
Wow. This vid just explained the Van Halen Diver Down album cover to me. Nice watch too although a tad big for my taste.
I have the blue one. I really like it so far, but the lume is the only part that I wish was a bit better.
This would have been in my cart if it didn't use a 8000 series movement, but for the price, it is a solid buy.

As pretty much everybody says, offer it in stainless and 39-42mm and bracelet and it would be a huge hit.
NO NOT EVERYBODY. Speak for yourself.
Nice watch. Is the rotor loud on this model?
that is beautiful...
The hands are a direct knock off of Vintage Seiko. Good effort by Timex.
Just ordered mine.
Finally…Thank you Timex
Impress with all of inovation they have done, but not on the 44mm dimension.
Timex looked like it has redeemed itself. They have been pretty lackluster!
I might buy this. Got a bronze and a steel piece and my skx so a black one would fit well. Especially after I sold my certina ds ph200 blacked out.
I have this and the only bad thing is the lume on the hands.
Its perfect but they need to decrease the size to 41 to 42 mm and add a good metal bracelet.

44mm? Phew, for a minute there, I was regretting my Blackbay 58 purchase
I think the Timex & Hodinkee skindiver is the best Timex .
I would like to buy this strap separately but for sure its more than 20mm width
No. It's not larger. I bought the watch. Definitely 20mm.
MAMACOO 's watch really surprises me!
Wonderful watch
Seiko really needs to up their game. Their pricing is too high for what they offer, even though we all know no one buys them for msrp.
Excellent
I don't like the diver dkwn flag on the diak but otherwise, I'd want one.
Good review Sir 💁🇩🇪
I wonder if the rotor is loud since this movement is based on the Miyota 8215
It is loud when moving the wrist, ok when just ticking.
have u seen their new deep water?
The specifications of this watch prove to me that Seiko's are basically screw jobs.
Swatch should start being concerned with the all the new and reissues coming out of Timex. They are certainly not one dimensional(moonswatch anyone).
How about $110 for a Simpson's Swatch that looks like a $10 kids watch from Walmart?
The Seiko 5 movement is much better than this cheap movement by Miyota. I wish they used the 9000 series high beat instead.
Thanks for the comment
Awsome
Something feels familiar here… (Seiko)
Is it iso diver certified?
Seems so. Second hand has lume, the hour marker at 3 and the ceramic bezel insert does too... so I'm thinking it might be..?
