Our well freezes when it gets bad. It's usually 2-5 days with no water. Just a thought. I'm sure you've already dismissed it! IIRC, you have heating in the space under your caravan. If the water barrels were next to the caravan, enclosed, you could potentially cut a hole in the caravan skirt and allow the heat under there to keep your barrels from freezing? Enjoying your progress immensely.
Love seeing your projects come to fruition. Your engaging manner and practical approach are a delight to watch. Look forward to your 1.5 hydro vid. Stay well and hopefully you don't get the snow bad....
You could build a 5th "fake barrel" with a pipe, feed from the bottom of the 4th barrel. Then you have a flow in the 4th too! Another tip: You could get some silicone mat or to pour it, to create your own (thicker) seals. Edit: just had another idea: burry the inlet pipe deep into the ground before it goes into the barrels, so it gets "heated up".
If you connect a pipe to the inside of the overflow and have the pipe take the water from the bottom of the barrel, it will suck out any sediment you may have collected in the bottom of the barrel - self cleaning.
Just came over here after looking at the cost of sheet materials OSB and ply, 🤯 they are still stupidly expensive so don't chuck any material that can possibly be re/upcycled.
Its got a bit crazy with the cost of materials at the moment! My thoughts are if I can reuse the materials after then its better than spending on something specialised I cant use for anything else
Great to see you back, hope everything has been OK with you and the family
Thanks Peter, family live is manic with the young ones but we are getting there
Glad to see you back. I started to wonder if TH-cam had shadowbanned you. Keep the content coming matey
Thanks 😁

I'm planning on doing something similar to yourself in a few years and I'm always contemplating your water pump set up.
Hopefully before you get to yours I will have finished mine so you dont make the mistakes I make

Thanks Mark those are very kind words! The freeze still got us but the tanks stayed unfrozen

Those are great ideas I will definitely be doing some of them on the next upgrade
Hoping to build something similar to house rainwater pump and storage. Had thought about making sips but do not have the time at moment.
Good luck with the project
What’s it been like the past week with the cold spell ?
Watched most of your posts , do you have Full Planning Permission for the house ?
Can you not put the low voltage anti freeze wire round I know your thinking amps battery’s etc or dig a big hole and use the ground temp difference ??
That would certainly work yea

Nice idea
Why did you use silicone sealant for the pipes , i use it for pond plumbing
I tried silicone but for some reason it diddnt want to stick to the barrel and split as soon as I moved something around e.g reconnected a pipe.
@@beyondtheworkbench you have to gently rub the surface with glass paper to give it something to key into
What was the black stuff you painting on the edges?
Its a Bitumen paint, nothing too special
@beyondtheworkbench ok thank you, sorry seen it later in video 🤦🏼♀️😂

Can't you just keep the water flowing through the barrels to waste. That could keep them unfrozen. I see you are already doing that
Thanks that is what we are trying to do
