Thanks for explaining the logic behind the compressor tool's parameters. Very helpful.

Very helpful and well done. I finally have a clear understanding of compression. Thanks.

Bro this is the correct compressor tutorial not the orher one that you have uploaded, you can delete that video. But here also i would like to point out one thing that
while doing downward compression i.e RMS compression you are unchecking the make up gain box. That option should be kept check as it increases the volume of the audio as required for the audio after compression, so it's a default setting. After this you can do loudness normalisation if your audio is overall louder than required.

I think you are misunderstanding the purpose of make up gain box. If you check that box, that means it will normalize your audio to 0 db after compression. I repeat, it will normalize your audio to 0 db after compression. If you uncheck that box, then no normalization will be done automatically after compression.

@@MasterEditor5 Brother makeup gain does not normalise, it amplifies, there is a difference between the two. After compression the volume decreases so if we choose makeup gain it will amplify the audio to a level as audacity finds reasonable and and not necessarily to 0 dB. And after that if you find audio touching 0dB than you can do loudness normalisation to -3dB. If you read audacity manual it doesn't say to uncheck the makeup gain option because it got a purpose.

@@user-xu9ji3kr3j When you get a checkbox it's up to you to check or uncheck based on your need. Makeup gain checkbox sets the gain to 0 dB as peak amplitude which is more or less the same as normalizing to 0dB or a single track. When you are working with a single track, normalize and amplify works in the same way. Normalize also corrects the DC offset, which Amplify does not. Otherwise what other difference do you see between normalizing and amplifying of a single track?

@@MasterEditor5 okay tell me what's wrong in keeping it checked and applying compression and then go for normalisation to -3db ? Will it be any different from your way?

AI voices have improved significantly over the past year. You may wish to update the narrative track.....or hire a human. You know, those things which consume your product.
