Thank you for a 2023 update. Really love you say how this gives the lifestyle you need to support being a working mom at this moment. Do you use run live classes and then simultaneously record them in HD for an on-demand channel. I’m struggling with how to run 1 live feed at 1080p and record at a higher HD for on-demand later. Thanks for the great channel!
What's the struggle? I don't know if I do 1080p anything. I export my videos at 720p. Just have good lighting. Zoom records poorly, so I record simultaneously to quicktime using the same equipment.
My equipment is very similar… MacBook Air, Rode Go wireless mic, Logitech Brio webcam, ring light with iPhone mount. Initially it costs a bit, but investing in high quality equipment means it will last and it definitely helps with streaming classes and recording videos. 😊
Perfect! It costs a lot if you buy everything up front, of course. Those who are serious about doing this as a career or a very passionate hobby will see it as a worthwhile investment. I mean, my snowboard cost me $1600 (more than recording equipment) and it's not making me money. In fact, I bought it last year and it's never left my house yet. 😅 (I did get pregnant and have a baby, so I guess I get a pass on that.)
Hi Ashley, I would like to ask you if you are using Rode Lavalier for creating your online yoga classes outside? And if yes how does it react on the wind or even on your breath? I am using Samson DE60x and it is very sensitive. And another question is, I bought new Iphone 15 PRO and if I am creating Zoom yoga class the phone cannot recognize the sound through the MiC and still using the mic of the IPHONE 15 PRO. Before that with Iphone 11 it was ok. Thank you for your answers ❤
I just found your channel Ashley and this is the first video that I am watching. I am wondering about using background music while teaching on zoom. Do you have any videos about that? Thank you!
Hi Ashley, can you just add the mic to a speaker to use in a class? I have watched hundreds of videos and everyone explains how great the mics are on laptop, camera, as stand alone but nobody mentions hooking it to a speaker. So I have a JBL boombox with a 3,5mm jack plug. Can I connect the receiver to that and use it in a dance class as a mic speaker system? Thanks in advance and also for all the info you share :)
I don't use either of them. They're good options, but I just clip the rode wireless go II microphone to my sports bra now-a-days. I still have both of them. It's the Pyle double year headset, or I have the Rode Lavalier Go II. Both are good. I just don't want the extra cables. I also teach very gentle style of classes that I can get away with not using them.
Thanks for the content. Please can you advise on how you play music? You have the personal mic and then do you just play using in the background for your yoga classes an the mic pics it up?
Hey Ashley, Your videos are very helpful. Could you kindly do one with Phone. How to use external microphone with Zoom on our phone. I cant get it how to teach my yoga lesson with Zoom on phone and using rode wireless go..
What about it is not working? It's not working at all? Or something else? It should show up as a microphone option when it's plugged in. You won't be able to hear your students. I don't like, nor recommend, teaching from your phone unless you absolutely have to.
@Ashley I have rode mic as well and I keep running into a problem with volume during my class. It happens after I demo supine position and when I come back the volume is very low. Any idea how I can address that?
I'd love to start recording videos for TH-cam, I'm trying to work out how you record video and sync up audio. Does the Rode mic plug directly into an external camera? Or do you use the logitech webcam for filming youtube too? Would love to know!
I don't think about it. I don't know what it is. But a quick google search shows me it's a variation of the logitech brio. Honestly? It'll probably work just fine. I'm not that knit-picky.
I have a video library of all previous classes that I sell as a monthly membership. Why not save them and repurpose for future viewing? It's not much more effort.
Lighting for outdoors? Outdoors is typically the best type of lighting, without any additional lights. Do you have access to an outlet? You could set something up, but honestly, you shouldn't need to. Cloudy sky in the daytime is the best form of light. Too much sun can be blinding and cause a lot of shadows.
Hi Ashes, again a very valuable video! I see that you are also a great fan of Doterra and have the Bubble diffuser. Do you have any tips how to clean them? I realized that the oil just went into the body of the diffuser and I see it soldering behind the sensor (also leaking out on the usb input) :( I am so sad about it because seemed to be a very handy and cool diffuser but now I am a bit concerned about it..
I'm so sorry! I honestly have no idea. Mine have been working fine and I actually haven't turned these on in weeks. I just add a new oil when the first ran out. I thought that essential oils are typically anti-bacterial, right? I am a fan of doterra, but by no means an expert on anything about them. If you figure it out, I'd love to hear. Otherwise, I'll just use mine until they become unusable.
Hello Ashley, iI am interested in the external hard drive , checked your Amazon page and the price is around 61 dollars. Do you recommend any accessories for it or I just purchase the hard drive? I want to save my videos that are filling my laptop memory. Thank You
There are no additional accessories for a hard drive. And yes, that price is about accurate. I think my 5GB hard drive was around the $100 price point. You want at least 1, probably 2GB or higher. I got a 5GB because my 2 filled up fairly quickly with the 30 minute yoga practices I do 5x a week.
HI Ashley, I am having an issue with my brio Webcam running on my MacBook Pro M1 processor. It delivers blurry and flickering image quality. And it seems that on the MacBook Pro with M1 processor I cannot download Logi Capture. Do you have any idea how to solve this? Thank you so much! Best Ute
Sorry, your research and guess is as good as mine right now. I also have a Macbook pro with M1 processor and have not come across that issue. There has to be a solution somewhere, or other people who are reviewing equipment with more insight. It's not something I have tested much.
@@AshleyHagen Thank you so much for getting back, Ashley. I am checking now with the Logitech support. They say, that the Brio is compatible with the MacBook Pro M1 processor. But it does not work on mine so far. If I come across the solution I will keep you posted. It might be useful information for others who encounter the issue. Warm regards and thank you loads.
Ring light only is a very harsh light in only one direction, and could cast large shadows behind you, if that's the only light you have. It's good to have lights also on the sides of you to balance everything out. If you have some natural light to pair the ring light with, it could work. Ring lights are dimmable, so it might be okay, if you have other regular lights or windows. In my amazon store, I also have a link to some LED wand lights. They're smaller than the soft box lights, but could work well. (I don't have them, but I'd recommend them.)
Hello Ashley, thank you for all your help - videos and FB groups - for us teachers🙏 I’m considering investing now in equipment to start online. So my obviously stupid question: why or when do you use a wireless mic and a lavalier? I would have thought either or but not both so when you say in your video « you’re using your lavalier when you move around » what do you mean,🤔 Thank you for your input on that one. Virginie from Germany
She uses either the lavalier for when she has to move a lot, OR the standard Rode like she is using in this video. The standard Rode mic can be a bit heavy when you have to clip it to certain pieces of clothes (men's t-shirts or tank tops, for example), while the lavalier (or lapel) is way lighter, although it connects through a cable, which might be annoying for some people.
I have been so frustrated with the logitech brio. Everything is really clear and sharp except for me. I’m blurry as soon as I step back from the camera. My lighting is good. Any advice?
That's weird. I haven't had issues with that. Have you tried turning the auto focus off? (download a webcam settings app or the logitech app.) Or, better lighting can really help with the ability for the camera to focus appropriately.
@@healthyhappyyoga I don't know what to tell ya. Perhaps it's a faulty camera that isn't auto adjusting the focus. I'm sorry this is happening to you. I've never had to use the app. Have you tried a webcam settings app? I purchased one from the app store for $8 and use that to make any adjustments I need.
Is it possible/advisable to record video directly onto a MacBook Air instead of using a web cam? What are the advantages of using a web cam over your laptop to record? I teach on Zoom and then transfer to TH-cam, for those who couldn't attend live. If I'm storing videos on TH-cam, why is it important to also store on my own hard drive? Thanks!
It's just about video quality. My webcam has a wide angle and can capture more than the internal camera. Also, the internal camera doesn't have as good of a picture. It's up to you. Use what works for you. TH-cam is not a file storing site. It can remove or delete one of your videos at any time. I store videos on a hard drive for a back-up. It's always good to back up files and not just have them in one place.
I don't know anything about that, or the difference. Your guess is as good as mine. The regular Logitech Brio webcam is what I have. Beware of third party sellers. The first time I bought the brio on Amazon, it was a wolf in sheep's clothing. A crap webcam in brio packaging. And amazon refused the return since it wasn't the original product. Anyway, I tried again from a different seller. It was fine.
Hello mam I m zumba instructor please guide me how we can record dance session in mac book by using quick Time player, i tried it in movie recording but music quality is not good So please guide me i m waiting for your response
It would be best to add the music in afterwards in an editing program. If you want music at the same time as recording, you can do that in Zoom. If you wanted to take the Zoom audio and replace in on the Quicktime video recording (better video quality), you could also do that. Another option is to use a microphone with 2 mic pieces and set one up by your music.
