      Update: I had purchased BMW Vario Top Case F750Gs / F850GS / R1200GS / R1250GS from Revzilla.com SKU: 1325595 (I live in the US) and the case is slightly different than what this video is showing. Instead of taking the back strip off I had to take the entire case cover off. I still had to take the 3 screws out inside the case. Additionally, I had to remove the locking mechanism and two other black screws. Once the entire outer cover is off it exposes the two spots that need to be drilled. I've never made a youtube video and may be this is the time to do one. Any way, this video was still helpful and made me more confident tackling my installation. ty!

    "Not very consistent with their screw strategy." Hahaha. Thanks for the laugh. Reminds me of what I noticed on my new Street Triple. Torx, allen, hex bolts and a few screws thrown in there in seemingly random fashion.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brent s yeah it's odd isn't it, you'd think they'd stick with the same sort of bolts, if nothing else to reduce the number of suppliers they use...

      the back box. some hang by the side..some just look like there going to fall off. that looked very stable, and fitted well with your bike.

    Nice one mate, cheers for this video!
    Question, no rubber o-rings or anything to put on the screws to help keep water/moisture out of the top box? Or does it even need it? I recently purchased a top case for my Yamaha with extra fairings screwed in the top, and it leaks something fierce. Very sad actually.
    Ta.

    Another good tutorial, keep 'em coming. What about an oil and air filter change, that would be useful as I can't how it's possible to remove oil filter without making a complete mess!

      +V8_P38a thanks for the kind words, glad you find the videos of interest...and I agree, I don't think there's a "clean" way to remove an oil filter, you just have to be ready for it!

    Hello. I'm considering buying the vario top case for my 2013 GS. If you don't mind my asking, I'd appreciate your opinion on the utility of the top case versus the vario side cases (bought those with my bike). Basically which are more useful. BTW, thank you for the work you put into your channel. You have some very interesting and helpful videos - not to mention a ridiculously clean garage!

      Well spotted - I found on longer journeys (which I tend to use the GS for) I actually preferred the quieter exhaust over the louder drone of the Arrow can....may swap back at some stage but for now happy with the OEM can...

    For once MF I'm ahead of the game! My GS had these fitted when I bought it. My daughter says it makes being a pillion very comfortable - especially when accelerating - so well worth the fit. Well done! Regards, Jon.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You were very lucky Jon, these cost me another £55 (for the parts) excluding fit obviously. I've only ridden with them once so far but my daughter also reports a big improvement and it means she sits back a bit away from me rather than clings on like a limpet which makes my riding easier too :0)

    My wife likes the GS back rest, she also prefers to have the side boxes on, she feels more secure. I believe it's more to do with shopping carding capacity 😱

      ...I've not worked up to passenger and full luggage yet - as inexperienced with pillions as I am I am moving the weight up little by little! The Mrs and her shopping....the mind boggles!

    Good video as usual must ask a non related question ..it took 2hrs 20 mins to render a 15 and a half min video 1080 by 30fps in my Sony Vegas editing software does that sound normal as I'm thinking there must be a quicker way ...the file was .64 straight out the drift converted to MP4 sorry to bug ur brains but you upload a lot of good vids so the man to ask. Cheers Shane

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shane, sounds a little long to me - I've not used Sony Vegas so can't comment on how long it would take (depends on the spec of your PC too of course). In my case I use PowerDirector on a fairly meaty PC and I would expect a 15 minute video in 1080 at 30fps to render in about 5 minutes! Sorry I can't help more....

  • @shaneweightman
    @shaneweightman 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have uploaded 2 videos so far part one is only 6 mins long part two is 10 ..when you get time please have a look and hopefully they will be watchable ...no were as good as your videos but I can only improve with time Hopefully. Take care Shane

    • @Ben10twentytwo

      As a younger man I had an minor epiphany, in that I only took offence at being called "son" or "kid", because it echoed an insecurity in myself. Did I have the right to think of myself as a man or was I just child pretending? Now that I'm older and realise all that "am I a man?" crap doesn't mean shit, I don't take offence anymore. What you take offence at, says as about you as it does the one doing the offending. Right, time for another beer!
