Appreciate the detailed explanations. Also inspired me to do a tank bag modification for the rear of my RT. Sometimes the panniers are over-kill, and having a tank bag on back is a great idea.

    Greetings to The Old Mechanic!
I have watched many of your tutorials, and they have helped me tremendously while rebuilding my R1200 GSA (crashed it in Aug 2021)
So thank you for you light hearted, funny yet super informative videos!
All I watched have deservedly received a thumbs up from me!
It was great to see this video with all the add-on's you have done to your 2010 R1200 GS!
Of particular interest, to me are the following, I expect you are happy with the quality and if you are, I am sure I will be! and I am hoping you might share the exact part to search for and where you bought them from please.
    - The stainless bolts for the brakes, shocks & front engine cover (mine are corroded from standing outside) It was difficult to see in the video, are they Torx or allen (hex) key?
    - The end bar weights with the throttle grip resistor
    - Grip to assist for putting the bike on the main stand
    - The wider mirrors (I in any case have a broken one that I would need to replace, but the wider vision sound like great and now a good time to upgrade
    - Also the Strobe controller for the Brake light but that is already clear what to search for GS100a and already found it
    Best regards
    J

Im smiling, very nice work. Just bought me an 09 with 83k miles. Will be doing some fixup stuff as well. I had to laugh when you said "fluid" lights you meant flood lights. I've learned another language sort of and made some hilarious mistakes. I'm sure your English is better than my Russian. Keep up the good work.

Very VERY nice video and information. T-up and subscribed. I had a 2007 R1200GS. Had to sell due to life situation. I want another bike. I am VERY VERY torn between a air /oil cooled cam-head and the ( 2014) LC GS. Reading on ADV-Rider, seems like the Alternator Stator on bikes made before 2015 go bad. This is a 2 to 4 week wait and approximately $2,500 bucks! OUCH !!! Would you consider getting a newer GS that is liquid ( water) cooled. I rode both and the LC seems so refined. It was like motorcycles from 2 different companies... is the best way I describe what I experienced. I love...LOVED the LCGS. But the thought of a stator failure is overwhelming. Maybe I am looking at it the wrong way. HELP!!!

Dear Mr. The Old Mechanic. I'm following your channel for a while. First of all, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Dinko and I'm the owner of BMW R1200 GS, model 2004.
I have one issue with my GS, that I would like to share with you, and maybe you could help me with some advice. Unfortunately, I live in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we really do not have good enough mechanics, only one in the whole state, and he is too far from me.
I have some kind of rattling noise problem, but not the clutch rattling noise. This kind of noise, when I ride, I hear from center of the engine. It's like 2 metals kick to each other, but only and exclusively when accelerating. When I accelerate gently, I cannot hear it. When I'm pushing the throttle while in neutral, I cannot hear it. When I'm accelerating through gears when the bike is on central stand, I cannot hear it also. When riding, the kicking sound is higher when I'm on lower RPM. Firstly, I thought it could be the flying bearings on the crankshaft. But When I talked to one mechanic that is good, but not good enough for BMW engines, he told me that the flying bearings could not be the problem, because, then the bearings start to hear and kick, the engine would be dead in a few kilometers.
I'm riding my GS with this sound for over 1000 kilometers. So, the mechanic told me that the problem is most likely somewhere in the transmission system, between the clutch and cardan. But it's really confusing, because the sound, when I ride, comes somehow from center of the engine.
I already had done the valve clearance check and throttle synchronization. Changed the oil (20W-50), oil filter and air filter.
The turn of the flywheel in gear, when raised on the center stander, is approximately between 2-2.5 inches.
I have uploaded on my channel a short video where, at the end of video, that sound you can hear. like ticking two metals: th-cam.com/users/shortsCgL6nks1YeI
If there is any experience with this same or similar problem, I would be very thankful if you could share it with me and give me some advice, where to start.
    Thank you in advance.
    Greeting from Bosnia.
    Dinko
