This was our favourite song around the time we got married in 1974 & we insisted on it being played in the restaurant KHYBER in Pune whenever we went out for a meal. Eventually the restaurant guys would start playing it as soon as we entered. Now listening to it on my own BOSE system, nostalgia takes charge. Of course I am 72 & my wife is 68 but we listen to it with the same fondness !!

The music from Rare Earth was, is and always will be from another galaxy... After a concert in Zurich the guys of rhe band signed me personally some LP's - what a honor!!! Forever in my life...!!! 🇨🇿Luigi
Great song by one of the barest groups of the late seventies Rare Earth “ yes 🙌 guys could cook on some of these songs oh yes 👏 I do applaud this group yes bad oh yes they had all I one yes 👏
I got to hear them play this live in Sacramento Memorial Auditorium back in 1974. Ma is a great album, it never got any air play!! I'm listening to this right now, December 23rd 2020,it sounds like it was released yesterday!!
Thank you David Young for your creativity in making us sit down and listen to Rare Earth. David was way ahead of his time and he that car stereo eight track hooked up to a AC/DC battery charger with speakers in every room . He’d bring you a cold beer that had just a little ice in it . And we jammed most days and then go down to A&W and get those Rootbeers in a chilled mug. You talking about enjoy the times we did. Rest in peace you were Heavy D of the early 70’s. LB May 30, 2023 Tuesday
Iam one of 18 in my family this song is so much every thing my ma was.God bless her soul..l miss her much.our PA pass't 1969 .or my ma would off had more.
Those were the days that the waa-waa pedal was king. I haven’t listened to this for probably 45 yrs. still some very tight playing. It got some plays in the clubs, back in the day. Reminds me of Bev. Good stuff.
This song reminds me on my father..... he loved this band and the present i gave him on his last birthday was a LP of Rare Earth...... i love this song
The Ma album by Rare Earth is a very good album, and Motown producer Norman Whitfield brought out the best of the band on this album. The title track is just 17 minutes of kick ass funk Rock. This was one of the last albums Norman Whitfield produced before he left Motown. RIP Gil Bridges, Ed Guzman, and Mark Olson......
LOVE THIS FOR IT S MUSICALITY AND THE BEST OF THE UNDERRATED RARE EARTH, THE PSYCHEDELIC SOUNDS AND WONDERFUL LYRICS PULL US INTO THE FABULOUS BEAT TO THE END, RIVERA OUTSTANDING!
What a honor for a mother, or fictional mother from whom who had a good one... I didn't had, but this is encouraging me because I see the point in how it should be... So it goes straight to the heart👍
I really like rare earth from 1972-1976Irememberhaving the forty-five of this song when I was a Sophomore at Livingston High school back in 1975and the cassette of this album
As a teenager l played this album almost every day before school to get me moving. Still winds me up when I hear it. I especially love this song. Good times.
When I was a kid this song played as my alarm in the morning to get up for school on a state of the art sound system with a pair of like 3 x 2 ft pioneer speakers with crushed red velvet, of course turned up to 11..the whole house shook...one of my best memories!
imagine being 17 years old, taking a weekend trip across the Alps to go to the U.S. Consulate in Zurich to get a tourist visa with a bunch of stoner buddies who went to needle park to buy a bunch of hash in August of 1984. On the way back, broke and eating delicious yet cheap Swiss chocolate, getting lost up the San Bernardino mountain pass parking somewhere along a dirt road up at over 700feet altitude in the dark. Falling asleep in that tiny Fiat 127 the four of us and waking up the next morning snowed in with hash smoke so thick could hardly see anything listening to this song... What a trip! Ahhh, memories... :-) THANK YOU RARE EARTH
Always dug Rare Earth. Was turned on to this jam in Europe at about 74 or 75. The instrumental mix is so awesome ya just don't want it to end especially the key board.
HOW have I never heard this!?! This one slipped by me back in the day! Awesome musicianship and the little jazz fusion is nice and I don't usually like jazz--lol Loving it in 2024.
This is the prove that a good extended song can be constructed up to a well selected rythmic base..You can hear all the instruments going around this concept...
Auch diese Scheibe war mal in meinen Besitz.Bin begeistert, was man so alles im Internet so findet, vielen Dank dafür.Bin nun 70 J. und lebe jetzt auf den Philippinen.
For me, this song busted open my musical interests. The first two times I heard it, was this album version; then after that, all I heard was the radio-edit version. At the age of 15, it was the first time that I realized that there was more music out there than what is played on the radio. I still own the album!
Love this band to bits the only crime is i never got to see them live, way ahead of their time for funk and cool, my go to feel good music all day every bloody day.
I remember when we played certain artist or songs and you could hear it outside you knew exactly what was going on during that time and as kids or young adults we was enjoying ourselves but you believe one thing for sure nobody wasn't feeling no pain at the end of the song and this is 2020 and i can still reflect on those times.
You have a very interesting playlist! I got here from the tubes remote control song. I saw rare Earth in 78. They put on a great show and opening for them was yesterday and today who eventually became y&t.
On the dey we got married we sat on a hill over looking the ocean with some buddies triping on Strawberry Fields Acid, listnin te this song, what a trip it were. Little did we know then that this tedey would be 52 years ago that me and the Old Lady began our life long adventure tegether.
Master Piece at tis Time , stunning 50 Years 's later
I dedicate this song to my late brother who introduced me to this song before he passed on the 1974 😢
Too sad...rest in Peace...
I still state and stand on that the 2 greatest decades for music were the 60's and 70s.

Back in 72 I would smoke my brain set the cruise at 65 hit the highway and listen to Ma about 4 or 5 times. Still love it

Lyrically strong and musically tight. Everybody can relate to the story told. Maybe not your mom, but the mother figure you knew.
Just discovered and diggin it, a fan of Funkadelic, Hendrix, Prince,, Fanny, Tommy Bolin etc.🖖🤟👌🤝

éste álbun nos impactó de verdad, que maravillosa "era" aquella década.
Los setenta fueron definitivamente los mejores para la música
I don't speak Spanish except for muy poquito, but I agree wholeheartedly with your words.
Since I was 15, this song was in difficult times besides me...
Rare Earth + Norman Whitfield= exelence
Just hearing it. First time I heard it in the seventies. Now: 63.
This was the opening song of a Great album. The last cut was very different and interesting.
The last cut is about how the lady that raised me made me..
Though Papa Was A Rollin' Stone was more popular, I'll take Rare Earth any day! This group was so good.👍
Search for Papa... on my channel, it's special and a great memory from my youth...
