In the age of 56 I drove home with my father and he was explaining who owns the fields beside our way. "This vineyard belonged to Rothschilds" he said, and I asked "We had Rothschilds in our town?" Alyssa Pointon Honestly, you just have to do it. Book a flight and go! It’s terrifying but travelling solo is the best thing ever. Finance wise, every week just save as much as you can. Start with a short trip and that will motivate you to keep saving for a longer one. Now is the perfect time to save since you can’t travel, as long as your job hopefully hasn’t been affected. :)
Katie Hahn Hi, may I ask what is it you’re doing? I’ve been interested in a work from home job in a while. Maybe you could give me some tips? Thank you
Honestly save up like $25 a week for 6months and you’ll have $600. This could potentially pay for flights. Book flights way in advance, about 6 + months ahead. Use the Airbnb app for cheap and nice places to stay. Also! A great traveling tip is to try to visit more than one country when traveling. Use a train! In Europe its fairy cheap to travel from places like Amsterdam to Frankfurt. Which costed me $60 one-way when I went last year. It’s easier, and more efficient budget wise, to travel to more then one place while you’re already traveling. Some flights are also cheap between countries. Use RyanAir, WizzAir , or FlyAirPortugal (they offer free trips for long layover flights).
I love Berlin! I love Mauerpark, the guy with the bicycle goes there every Sunday to do this karaoke, there is such a great energy there! I miss Berlin 😭❤️

Loved this vlog. I'm going on my first solo trip abroad next April. Flying into Amsterdam. Going to take the train to Berlin and staying in a VRBO in west Berlin for several days because the last time I was in Germany, I didn't get to Berlin so I want to do some tours and really explore the city. Then training back to Amsterdam to spend several more days and go to a concert by my favorite band, The Midnight. Looks like you had a really good time. Watching many Berlin solo vlogs to get tips.
Hi Elena, I am a German (born and raised) and just saw this video after discovering your channel a short while ago. I am very glad that you enjoyed your time in Berlin - it seems as if you found a good mixture between history & fun. Holocaust & Hitler & Berlin Wall actually are an important part (if not the most important part) of our culture and the way we want to be perceived outside of Germany. No one is trying to hide anything and visitors (as well as residents) are encouraged to educate themselves on these topics. The many offers in Berlin are an obvious example, but you can honestly find them everywhere in this country. The next generation does not feel guilt or responsibility, but a deep shame is still present nonetheless. National pride looks a lot different here than in the United States, but you probably perceived that during your travels outside of America! Come back soon - Germany (and Europe in general) is incredibly diverse and every corner is worth exploring! Trust me :)

If anything we have way too many people moving to Berlin. The city grew by around 30 to 50k yearly the last years. And ususally Berlin was a city which didnt really grew since for every person moving in someone moved out. So of course now we have a housing crisis :D

i really want to do a solo trip, it seems so exciting and really really fun. you are inspiring me to do a solo trip, and i love love this video so much
Oh btw you should definetly read "the reader" by Bernhard Schlink. A lot of germans read it in school because it is a book about post world war II "vergangenheitsbewältigung" and how complex it is to do so when pretty much an entire nation was part of something so terrible! To this day there still are offender trials however they are getting more and more rare because most are already at a really high age or even already dead.
I always put in my bucketlist 2 countries (or more, depending on how much money i make and how much time i have) that I want to visit in a year. I don't prepare my travels in time, I like being very spontaneous and meeting new people through couchsurfing and Yes Theory. About my anxiety, I try to keep my head as clear as possible and try not to do anything that will disturb or offend someone because I have this thing where when someone gets mad at me or I hurt them accidentally (emotionally), I get a panic attack. I also remind myself that no one cares if I'm a solo traveller and actually, most of the time I get compliments on how brave I am for my age to just go anywhere I want. Before my flight, I make sure I completely ignore my anxiety. I shouldn't, but if I wouldn't do that, I would most-likely not go which isn't what I want. So hope this would help someone. Always say yes to things that will make you more knowledgeable or that will bring you happiness and experience. Don't let people mock you, be friendly to everyone around , discover what you're fearing and conquer it. Literally everything in life is scary at first: first day of school, first day at work, learning new skills, building a friendship, going out, going out alone, etc. Also, I know this is a little bit about preparation, but I categorise it as being knowledge, when you're going somewhere remember to be respectful about traditions and manners. Read about what's being seen as rude, what you're allowed to do and what not. They're literally fact and they're very interesting.
I really enjoyed the style of the vlog - Berlin is definitely on my list of our long awaited Europe trip. Can't wait for things to open back up as we are from Australia so hopefully Europe Travel will come available again soon. Have you seen the TV series Dark? Shot only an hour out of Berlin in the Forest - so keen to check out those spots also! What would be your other Europe recommendations? Also watch Dark already if you haven't ! Such a good series.
It's so nice to see you doing a solo trip again! You inspired me to travel alone so last summer I went solo to Vienna, Munich and Dresden. And I always had to think about you when I took myself out to dinner solo so thank you so much for giving me the strength to not be afraid of traveling alone💕

Can't believe I'll be moving to that beautiful country in less than two years. IM TOO EXCITED HELP 😄
JEALOUS
I moved two months ago and its amazing!
You’re literally the best !!!
Ooh this video reminds me to my Berlin experience! So inspirational and good to see you living such a nice experience ❤️
I knew I liked you for a reason! The Cure is my favorite band
I’ve been watching you for so long and it makes me so happy to see you visited my country and enjoyed your stay ❤️🥺
Yes so much!!
Love your wonderful videos. You are so brave and adventurous! Have fun and be safe!
Love this! I want to solo backpack through germany now!
You should! We'd be happy to have you here!
Oh hey that's the hostel i'll be staying at this weekend! i am also a solo female backpacker visiting :) wish i was getting my own room at least one night tho. Thanks for sharing!
can you do a video on how you start the itinerary planning process? I feel so overwhelmed with all the options and don't know where to start!
I lived in Germany and Berlin was definitely one of my FAVE city! Now reminiscing☺️
I'm moving to Europe from Australia next year and I can't wait to do some solo travel! Hoping it will force me out of my comfort zone since it will be my first time overseas, hoping I'll be able to make friends and feel brave enough to eat at restaurants alone and ask rando's to take my picture for me 😂 sounds kind of silly when I type it out now
Hell yes!!! It feel silly haha but so empowering!
For those interested, the song at 7:54 is Lose Sleep by Sharksleep

ahhhh i love this!!! i live in berlin and it's so freakin awesome here!
Going Solo Next week!!! this was very helpful
Berlin is definitely at the top of European cities to visit list!! You might've already done something similar, but I'd love to know more about how you chose to major in business when it seems like you have such a passion for history (college apps are daunting rn). Loved this video :)))))
I love your traveling videos so much. You are always so respectful and eager to learn about the culture. You’re so inspiring!
its so funny I actually live in Berlin and to see someone explore my hometown is just something else and fun to watch, loved it though
Yay I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for bringing us along on your trip!!
duuuuuude this is beautiful
It's so weird as I just came back from Berlin at the same exact hostel! It's like reliving my trip, but with much nicer weather haha!
so cool to see the city where I live and grew up through your lens, thanks!!
What a rad city to grow up in :)
love the video elena!!!! so rad! ✨
Thanks girl!!
Berlin is amazing but so underrated!
It’s the third most visited city in the EU... nobody goes there? Hahahahahaha
please don't send more tourists here hahahha i love berlin like it is
Actually it’s pretty overrated... Once you live here you get to see how fucked up this city really is
underrated?? I am from Berlin and have the feeling it's spoiled by tourists and party folks. There also a lot of people from abroad working here.
If anything we have way too many people moving to Berlin.
The city grew by around 30 to 50k yearly the last years. And ususally Berlin was a city which didnt really grew since for every person moving in someone moved out.
So of course now we have a housing crisis :D
this video made me miss Berlin so much more (was just at Berlin as well) loved it & loved the video🦋
Back in my day there were these funny Germans who wore red arm bands and they fought some guys who wore hats with yellow hammers! Fun times at Berlin!
really enjoyed this video :) I've just been to Berlin and loved it and it was so much fun. Glad you enjoyed your time in Germany as i am from Germany xx
What a lovely young lady you are Elena. Your words about how much the concentration camp affected you, was deeply touching. Love your vlog's 👍
hihi it’s nice to see a video about my city
love your city!!
I live in Berlin. Ludwigkirchkiez, with the Bonzen. It’s nice and one of the best cities in the world.
1 minute in and I already subbed haha hell ya I love people like you!!!
wow you’re living my dream life
Definitely had to google why the bust of Queen Nefertiti is in Germany!
I moved to Berlin from the UK around the time you moved to New York City 🦋
Aw no way!! What an incredible city
This just showed up in my recommended videos, and I honestly mostly clicked on it because I could tell you were wearing a Together Pangea shirt, but after watching I've decided wanna be you when I grow up.
I really want to visit Berlin and other cities in Germany some day. Hopefully someday I can and will be able to get to a B2 level in German.
watching this in corona times is weird
omg!!! Ive been so excited for this video thank you!!!!!
i just did hand surgery and this is the ONLY thing i need right now.
3:08 - band/ song ? hahahaa it sounds class! (still to watch rest of video)
I LOVE YOUR TRAVEL VIDEOS
i really want to do a solo trip, it seems so exciting and really really fun. you are inspiring me to do a solo trip, and i love love this video so much
Hell ya, I highly recommend if you ever can!
Just found your channel, love your style of vlogging, very like retro, just subscribed ❤️
They're literally fact and they're very interesting.
tressor was where I fell in love w techno
Honestly same! I didn't think I would like techno but I really enjoyed it there!
That crazy because, Berlin was my first and yet only solo trip and I went to the exact same photobooth to immortalised this trip.
No way!!! Damn small world
I really enjoyed the style of the vlog - Berlin is definitely on my list of our long awaited Europe trip.
Gurl you're literally living my dream... I mean, living in New York, travelling the world n all...
I LOVE YOUR EYES, SO BEAUTIFUL !!
You were literally walking through the street where my uncle lives🥰
ok, but did anyone recognize that she went to a together PANGEA concert in Berlin, IN BERLIN!! that's so cool
It's so nice to see you doing a solo trip again!
You inspired me to travel alone so last summer I went solo to Vienna, Munich and Dresden. And I always had to think about you when I took myself out to dinner solo so thank you so much for giving me the strength to not be afraid of traveling alone💕
Ah this makes me so happy!! I'm so glad you went out and explored on your own!
Do you maybe remember what the 2nd hand shop was called after like 8minutes and where did you find the cute photobooth. Such an inspirational lifestyle you live, just love this city!!
Nice city, I have never been there, my grandfather was, came in 1945.

It looks that besides all that exploring you're also in for some serious insights. Keep that.
