- This episode, I review Port Charlotte 10 Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. I also talk about The Botanist Gin from Bruichladdich and the distillery tasting room.
The guitar sounds are from my 2017 PRS CE 24 “Angry Larry”. I recorded a backing track with my BOSS RC-10R Looper, which also adds a drumbeat.

The Botanist is my favorite gin. Less floral but lots of complexity.
Thanks for sharing, Scott! I'm not a gin drinker, but I did buy a bottle of The Botanist because I love so many of the whisky expressions from this distillery. It's actually a lovely flavor profile.
I love Port Charlotte 10. Haven't had one for a while, but it is a favorite. Haven't tried the Classic Laddie as I am really into peated whiskys. Good video, as always informative. Will have to get another PC 10 soon!

My bottle arrived this week, had a couple drams yesterday for the first time. Simply stunning! I was seriously blown away. I had tasted the Laphroaig Portwood a few weeks ago... and yes, I know there's no port in this... and it's probably not as similar... but it really reminded me of it. I could nose this for days. Excellent stuff. IMHO this is absolutely better than Laphroaig 10, Ardbeg 10 and Ledaig 10. I need to try others of their line up now!

Nice review. Like your easygoing style. And your PRS of course. I am halfway my bottle of PC10 and it only gets better. Also have the MC:01 which is great. Bruichladdich is one of my favorite distilleries. Laddie Classic 10 and 2007 Rockside Farm were awesome. Have two Octomore's (07.1 and 09.3) waiting for the right moment. Just subsribed. Whisky and guitars, match made in Heaven🤘

@@WhiskyRiffs Hi Kevin, I got those Qctomores with big discounts,the 07.1 for only 100 euros. I am also a big fan of Caol Ila, have several IB's of those. I am wondering if the 18 year old OB is worth the money since I already have the 25. So if you ever have the chance reviewing the 18 would be nice. I suspect it to be very nice. 😋
I paid USD $170 for an Octomore 08.1 Masterclass two years ago and haven’t invested again since. Paying 100 euros is great. I’ve never owned a bottle of Caol Ila, but I will look at picking one up. When you say “OB” are you referring to a Caol Ila?
@@WhiskyRiffs Hi Kevin, OB = official bottling from the distillery itself, IB = independent like for example Adelphi. The Caol Ila 12 years old is really cheap here and is very nice too. Maybe a good idea to try that first before the rather expensive 18.

what can you recommend for smoky peat whiskey without sweetness and fruit in the taste?. but not octomore !
