I wrote my very first research paper on Queen Elizabeth I. Interesting, it was for an Advanced English class in 9th grade, not a history class. We were studying Shakespeare, and had to do a blind draw for subject of paper. I drew Queen Elizabeth I. I truly, truly admire QEI and she has been my role model since I first learned of her. Gloriana.
When Henry married Anne he he made it so his marriage to her was legal and not to Catherine of Aragon now when he has Anne killed Elizabeth is called a bastard because now they said his marriage to her was not legal I mean it keeps coming and going with this king
I think it’s a shame that this whole documentary was centered around her not having or needing a man. She reigned for 40 years-surely she did something besides behead her cousin and not start a religious war.
While I admire the efforts of the historians, I can still correct it. For example, Mary Queen of Scots was NOT Elizabeth's 1st cousin. She was the granddaughter of Henry's sister, Margaret (cousin once removed?). It could be same diff here, but that is a huge difference.
She was a much better monarch than her father. The charm and wiles of a woman with the heart of a king. A very strong combination. Add a great intellect and being given an excellent education. She could speak multiple languages. I think she was more advanced in her education than her father. She was considered the best monarchs that was ever known by mankind.
Mary had a huge personality. She never, in spite of all circumstances accepted to relinquish the fate of her half sister, Elizabeth. It would have been extremely easy and understandable in the times but she never did. She was honourable.
It was a man in disguise the baby died and the help took a boy and the king would only visit her from his horse he never knew....thats a theory i saw . 1:34
She recognized they were calling her something different If I suddenly used a different nickname for my son at that age, he'd realize it right away. They do notice changes. I'm sure her housing changed, her attendants changed, her status changed. If you move, wouldn't your child notice? Doesn't mean she truly understood it, but her life would have changed pretty dramatically going from the heir, to a bastard.
Call me crazy, but I don't think she would have written Elizabeth I as it shows in the thumbnail, with the I in cursive. It's a Roman numeral! Anyway, she used to sign as Elizabeth R, for Regina, the queen.
It was recorded by her nurse who passed it on to the King's council. It's easily verified if you research. Whether she said it or not? Who knows. Her nanny might be using Elizabeth as a mouthpiece for how she felt about the situation.
Could the makers of such historic documentaries please stop saying that this or that woman has failed her purpose and duty by not giving birth to a son, when we all know by now, that it is the male Y chromosome that determines the sex of a child. Goodness! At least put it into perspective for that time of history. Scientific accuracy being the key word!

Nice
I wrote my first research paper on her too

Queen Elizabeth I definitely was no one to mess with. I admire the fact that she rule without a king. Women rules.
What an extraordinary person....she was tough when needed, but also vulnerable too. One of history's most fascinating individuals.
I admire her for the woman she was in the time she lived!!!!!

yep. they're all the same
I was thinking the same thing? What other accomplishments did she have?

Wrong. She was Elizabeth's first cousin once removed.

At 19:10 narrator says Elizabeth believes in a different God than Mary? What a ridiculous statement!
Enjoyed this
Mary had a huge personality.
She never, in spite of all circumstances accepted to relinquish the fate of her half sister, Elizabeth. It would have been extremely easy and understandable in the times but she never did.
She was honourable.
She made the right moves and she was hardly vulnerable. Her role was to be a monarch.
Queen Elizabeth l reminds me that she looks like Mrs Thatcher just saying so beautiful USA
Unfortunate for her parent's, great for England
RIP Queen
I once met a unicorn.
🤣😂🤣😂
She doesn't want to be the son ... Or queen... She just wants to survive
It was a man in disguise the baby died and the help took a boy and the king would only visit her from his horse he never knew....thats a theory i saw . 1:34
Ridiculous
It was Henry VIII, not Henry VII, who was the father of Queen Elizabeth I.
She’s 3 and she knew of her status change? Doubt it!
My 3 year old niece speaks full sentences and understands what we tell her, so id say it's possible..

I wish i couldt meet her
Much too condensed and wholly unsatisfying.
Hate the music
Trust me the music hates you as well.
Hey I am just gonna throw this out there....Elizabeth was a redhead also and ya know how stubborn and determined those girls can be ...lol
Are* not "can be" lol
Stibborn has nothing to do with haiir color.

This is disappointing! It's supposed to be about Elizabeth, but it is just a repeat of the previous episode about Henry! 😣
Sure, a two year old noticed she dropped in status…hmm
Indeed what a ridiculous statement to make by an historian of all people.
@@EmmaBakesCakes I had to laugh!
She lost her subs

@@moonie-zw5by I’m aware of the hearsay of the time; it is not credible
