Finally someone who really likes the persona 3 movies and why its so good 👍

I still like the game p3mc atleast he had some backbone and talk back at people could have atleast show some emotion and saying flirty lines like hey baby to aigis and show him spending time with Yukari and Mitsuru and have funny jokes and just not act like this the entire movie and be quiet and very social when alone with people and smart and courageous
Can't agree with that when the story portraited in the movies were rushed af with no additional content ( unlike P4 animation which had a bunch of social link stuff and side stories ).
I know it's movies but they could've at least add SOMETHING aside from just story.
Aside from the animation itself and music, I don't see how they're good. And this is coming from someone who has been playing P3FES since 2012 ( it's my all time fav game (: )
Personally i like the movies because they nearly perfectly capture the atmosphere and the themes game

Like the P3 movies, the P4 anime did an outstanding job at giving the quiet Yu actual character. Early on, Yu don’t talk too much unless it’s either he says something weirdly funny or to push the plot as well as acting as the usual shounen hero. But the Mitsuo arc showed us that he was scared that his friends would leave once the mystery was solved but that wasn’t the case yet was later brought up on the final episode. Later on, Yu showed signs of raw emotions in regards to Nanako’s kidnapping and everything surrounding her “death”. I would like for you to talk about Ren’s potential character.
Though, with Ren in the anime, he was defiantly the one who acted as a blank slate the most in the anime adaptations. Sure, he's got memorable moments like Operation Maid Watch when he gets close to the maid who's arrive and realising who the maid is and one scene during the school festival had me laughing, but he doesn't really have any actual character growth like Yu in the P4 anime and Makoto in the P3 movies. You'd think he would have actual character development in parts like the final heart to heart with Akechi or the moment when he realizes that Shido is the one who gave him his criminal record, but no. It's a real shame that Joker ends up being the most blank slate protagonist in the Persona anime adaptations, despite being the most iconic Persona protagonist.
@@spydersoup8447 well the game really wasn't about growing but actually sticking to your guns, now, wasn't it? Ren was a rebel and his job was to teach everyone else to also be one, not succumb to the various temptations and lies he could've succumbed to.
@@spydersoup8447 I feel that in the game he even has more personality than in the anime, I mean, the guy has the most ridiculous answers, you can know his thoughts, several moments where the narrator is not there, you can feel his friendly relationship with ryuji, he is the brother of futaba, he is grateful to sojiro, he does stupid things with yusuke, he sees himself with self-esteem in the metaverse, he knows how to dance, he is a defender of justice, with his dialogues, people say that the ones that say the most about his character are the ridiculous answers because they are the ones that are repeated the most, not intelligent, not stupid, only the most troll
@@jesus_gabo_am2814 yeah but you can't compare a 150+ story game with an anime of 30 episodes but still the Movies and the Anime give Makoto and Yu so many characterization sadly Ren didn't almost get any characterization than just being the same blank slate of the game with a little bit of more dialogue

A year late but what can you do;
This arc of Makoto’ s is something stil inferred within the game. Obviously not to the extent of the film’s since we control him, but if you take the time you notice something in the way the protagonist replies to everyone as the game goes on. Much of his options are dismissive, uninterested and very much reflective of the loner he is. Then slowly he has more hopeful and sincere replies to what’s going on. The idea is that while your slowly working on being a member of SEES, spending time with others, and making friends the protagonist is growing out of his loner apathetic self and into a more open friendly person. Who is still cool as a cucumber and a bit dismissive but also fighting for a world where he has a place in it. And ultimately sacrificing his place there to protect it.
Ironically the opposite can probably be said with the female protagonist in P3P, but that’s more for another day.

I think makoto yuki get inspired from ichise from texhnolyze,they almost same,apathetic and asocial,and the proggresively in story,they more be caring person,and used sword too

I love Persona 3 movies, they were great. Although I remember being a bit confused at the beginning of the 2nd movie. I thought I skipped smth XD
Yeah i agree The movie is pretty good in Animation,character,and fight scene but for the story in my opinion is feel too rushed but still pretty polished and enjoyable and still far better than Persona 5 the animation
the tone shift from a deep dive into yuuki's guilt into an excited "oh... my god... that is SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE GAME" is giving me life
This is incredible. This really shows his incredible character shown. I hated Yuki at first in the movie because he was so blank and empty, but I know understand. Ill forever like the games take on him more, but damn did the story give him such power.
If only he dated yukari I would have liked him more maybe she could have gave him emotion and maybe make him bold or something

Persona has a great way of building up characters only for you to be absolutely destroyed in the end.
The P3 movies are a masterpiece and improved the narrative of P3 in many ways!!!
That thing I'm suprised you didn't bring up is I think the real problem with the player not feeling like they're personally involved in Shinjiro's death is because you don't have a Social Link with him in the game at all. Instead, you had Social Links with characters like Nozomi. This meant that aside from one event in FES where you can hang out with him, you never once actually spend time with him and get to know him more, making his death feel less impactful on you. This is something that the female route in Persona 3 Portable fixes. What that Social Link is about is getting to know Shinjiro, with him knowing that he's going to die soon, but our character doesn't know that. So, you, not even being aware of it, help him make the best out of how much time he has left, which defiantly makes it feel like 10/4 had left a much bigger impact on our character, but not in the same way as how the second Persona 3 movie did it. However, one thing about the Social Link in Portable which, yeah, sparked a lot of controversy, which while it doesn't ruin the story for me since they came up with clever ways of having the story remain the same, even with this alteration, it just personally doesn't work for me, and my only real complaint about it is it should've been a completely opinionable thing, even if it's exclusive to the female route, something that the player can choose to have happen if they want it to or not, much like one extra moment first added to the FES version. Just thought I point this out.
If you put it on FeMC perspective tho, Shinji is the first one you show your vulnerability to.
In game, He's the fastest S.E.E.S member SL to max. In narrative, all other character story, exc. Fuuka, climaxed after Shinji's death. By this definition, Shinji is the first person for FeMC to be vulnerable with and share some similar perspective in life.
Even if just a coma, FeMC may couldn't talk to him again ever. The stage play, uses this amazingly.
I only recently watched the movies and I agree Persona did not need silent protagonist.
try listening to the persona 3 radio, you can hear makoto being kind and gentle to his friend it's so wholesome
I wonder how FeMC/Kotone/Minako/Hamuko would be handled with Character Growth.
My headcanon would be a little dark: she goes for the happy-go-lucky personality to hide her true feelings. She can be uninterested as Makoto's about death, but less edgy. And her development would be as how she doesn't need to pretend to be happy all the time and show her true feelings as sadness, anger, and fear of death.

One problem I have with these movies. They don’t have an English dub 🤔.
I liked the Persona 3 movies a lot, however I wouldn’t like persona to have non-silent protagonists. It works fine in the adaptations, but it’s harder to get invested and immersed without a silent protag
And each of them already have a somewhat indicated personality based on their answers you can pick. Yu is a total chad and Ren/Akira is a sassy SoB.
Persona protags are barely even silent protagonists in the first place except for how their dialogue options aren’t voiced

The story of the movie is way better, but it wouldn't work in a game, especially a persona game where you are playing as the main character and wouldn't agree the same way.

Yeah, Minato is still practically the same self-insert mute you'd expect him to be. I know this myself, I got the actual manga. Minato's more just a lazy person who still kinda cares. But this one has actual personality and character growth. I prefer taking Makoto Yuki as his name because 1 - it's his canon name and 2 - this one has more character growth.
