People act like the recoil on a 357 is damn near uncontrollable. My wife carries a Ruger police six speed in 357 and she handles it just fine. She's only 124 pounds lol.
One thing about 357 compared to the 'carry' rounds is the noise. It breaks the sound barrier and makes a whole lotta racket on the range compared to the 9mm everyone else is using.
As a professional gunsmith when it comes to Pythons. If I wanted a Colt Python to use I would want a currently made one over an older one. Tighter tolerances, and machining and materials have improved over the years. Your older ones seem smooth because the tolerances simply aren't as tight as a new one. With a new one as you get a few hundred heavy 357 loads it will start to looen up a little and feel smoother but people who do not know anything act like the tightness at first is a bad or inferior thing. It's not
First, the Colt Python is a great and highly refind revolver; probably top of the kind. I believe the Python is too highly refined and have seen problems arise due to that issue. Before going to semi autos, most of the guys I worked with used Smiths because of this. A few older guys carried Pythons and they were smooth shooting revolvers and maybe some were envious of the expensive pieces even as they trusted their S&Ws. I don't know if the finely tuned Colt parts wore out of time faster or what, but all eyes turned to the Python shooters on the range when they just stopped shooting and required a gunsmith work. Even older S&Ws just kept on shooting (and generally got smoother). Now, if you were to do similar mods to a Smith Model 66 or 686, you would be improving a work horse. Going from loops or dump pouches to revolver speed loaders made great improvements in speed reloading the wheel gun. Most of us would sit in front of the TV practicing with the loaders and dummy rounds for hours (drove my wife nuts and out of the room). That Colt revolver would be difficult to holster and carry. It is interesting with some neat features but is it practical? Maybe a bedside or range bride special. Now, you can spend a lot of money on handguns but I tend to buy pistols that are rock solid reliable (a S&W revolver, Glock or Sig 1911 come to mind over that Colt). I love that we can have and exchange opinions on products.
An interesting approach. For an alternative in this category, what about the S&W 327 R8/TRR8? Same sort of size, same caliber, top and bottom rails from the factory and an 8 round cylinder cut for moon clips.
This is the answer. The Python is loved for its beauty as much as its functionality, and kitting it out like a mall ninja just feels wrong. There are other purpose-built tactical revolvers like the R8. Just go with that.
I carried revolvers for most of my Security Career and as well as today. The 357 Magnum being my all around favorite, 125 JHP. The first time I seen a Cold Python was in a movie I seen as a teen, Electraglide in Blue. The actors name eludes me at the moment, but he played in the TV series Beretta. Also a cop, the thing that stood out about the python he used in the movie was the revolver was blued and his cylinder was chromed or stainless, or may it was the other way around like yours in this video. But I remember that Python became all the rage during that time, and I worked with other Security Officers who carried a pythons, one in particular carried a 6 inch blued steel version. I fired that one, it very accurate.

Would be cool if the made an 8 shot .327 mag. .327 is between. 45 acp and .357 mag in power, smaller in diameter than .357 so you can have standard frame size revolvers with 8 shots. Also please review the Brno PSD.
Miculek running 6R6 changed my life. Made me feel like a man and inadequate at the same time.
Never thought a Python could be ugly.
How wrong you were.🤦♂️
This comment will get buried but that's fine- we all experience change. I had major change where I lost my whole life as I knew it. I picked myself up, albeit in a mildly alcoholic manner and recreated my whole life. I hope that's where your head is at. You're right where you left off with some lessons in tow. I'm not one to suck some famous guy cok and all men are equal to me so I can relate to the struggle.... Carry on and keep making dope content.
I guess I missed something important?!
That is a badass jacket.
I know I wish I knew what it was
Thanks for saying " BAD ASS JACKET" instead of saying Dope. 👍

I want a modernized blackpowder percussion cap revolver
Are we about to have a Renaissance of revolvers? I can feel it coming.
we are not
the drip is hard to beat
It's a limited trajectory Renaissance. It can only go so far and stay only so long.
Facts are facts and romance doesn't beat logic in the end.
Yeah, but logically speaking it makes sense to go revolver depending on local gun laws.
If you’re capacity restricted, would you rather have 6 rounds of .357/.44 mag or 10 of 9mm?
In states that don’t recognize the second amendment? Yes
.38 Special revolvers have seen a long service time in the U.S. military among aircrews and military police.
S&W Victory Model (Model 10)

Are we all just going to glaze over how awesome that jacket is?! It’s like Wyatt Earp and the terminator had a jacket baby.
Garand wick is back..
Bro, where did you get that jacket?
Wow thats alot of kit on a revolver.
Looks like something out of borderlands. Great video!
That intro screams "Garand Wicked Thumb" ! We need a movie ASAP!
It’s worth noting that the OG best loading for the .357 is a 125gr JHP, which was curiously absent from the gel test.
I like it, but some custom Mahogany grips with all black cerakote would hit just right for me.
