You seem to be excited for basically the same features found on folding devices prior. While the form factor ratio is much usable IMO when closed, a lot of features have been done before. We should just be excited that the folding market in the US has competition.
I recently got the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and I have to admit, I've had a little heartburn over not waiting for this one to be released. I love my Fold, but I think the Pixel Fold will definitely be my next upgrade.
As I watch this review on my Samsung galaxy Z Fold 4. I think I'll wait for the Z Fold 5 comes and and pass on first Gen Foldable phone. I'll definitely check Googles Fold phone out at the store. It don't look to bad.
The thin front screen has always been my biggest issue with the fold. The fold 4 has made that outer screen more.... acceptable, but it's not perfect. The pixel looks like what I loved about the duo paired with why I keep using fold. Like they had a baby. I will be buying it.
I've been using the Z fold 3 for a quite a long time now. I skipped the Z fold 4 because it just didn't seem like it was worth the upgrade. The chinese (or where ever) foldables have that very inticing wide fold over samsungs thinner fold, and I've always wanted that on a phone based out of the U.S. I'll probably pick this up when (if) the price ever drops.
Google needs to really learn how to create a very reliable and clean phone before they go into making a folding phone. Their normal phones have enough issues already.
Such a great review. I preordered mine! I appreciate how you have been loyal to the google brand during the ups and downs beta life like most of us. Unlike some channels (cough mkbhd cough Neistat cough) that ran to apple the first chance they got.
I wish reviewers would take more of a deep dive into the software, the lack of bloatware compared to other manufacturers etc. File management, PDF management and business uses.
They fixed the biggest problem of the galaxy fold, and that was the small narrow screen in folded form, was unusable for me because of that, this is WAY more practical, however the price is way higher than I expected....🤦♂️
I do think that the form factor is much better than the competition, but I don't think they're going to disrupt the market as much due to the crease sticking out in the unfolded mode. Apparently Samsung have fixed the crease in the up and coming galaxy fold 5 but we'll see!
Always been a galaxy s series user. I think i want to give google a try. I like the wide screen instead of the long screen on the z folds. This is very intriguing, i want this!

Why is the bezel unacceptable if you watch a movie or TH-cam or anything on any foldable phone you’re going to have a black bar someplace which is like a bezel.
@@guadalupe8589 Its much better to sacrifice a relatively more comfortable grip (its not like the thin bezels are unbearable, they are still very viable) than to lose the significant amount or 'polishness' of design

Device is intended for much more than just media consumption, your argument is extremely inferior
Pixel Fold 2 : more thinner while folded and unfolded , edgeless or curved-edge display with inscreen selfie camera . while costing $1500 would breakthrough mobile market. A $ 150-250 affordable pixel , with mid-level specs would attract more customers especially in developing countries ! I hope someone like this idea of the next I/O event !
you talked a lot about the phones hinge and how the phone can basically have its own stand. My thoughts on this are people are going to scratch the hell out of their front screens with the phone sitting on a surface on the front screen. Scooting the phone around, spinning it around like you were doing in the video, etc. Better have a good screen protector or case with some lip protection to make it not so easy to scratch that front screen.
It’s a great compromise. They could have made it with thin bezels but than have a shitty ass front camera like Samsung did. I’d take the larger bezels anyday.
@@ramalam1988 as a z fold 4 user i can confidently say that the inner camera is only for ease of use, if you need a good quality selfie you can do so with one of the other cameras, so no i disagree
@@JokobZuma They did it like that to hide the components on the top and bottom keeping the phone as thin as they can, much thinner then the z fold so it’s not like they did it for no reason. No one wants to carry a thick phone like that in there pockets. I’ll take a thinner more pocketable phone any day. In the future , when they figure out how to make it thinner and keep bezels smaller, then that would make sense. For now, it’s a very good compromise rather then trying to make a phone that barely anybody is gonna buy anyway and trying to make it look modern. We’re still at the beginning stages of foldable so I think people would much rather take something thinner and pocketable to ease them into buying foldables. People want something as close to resemblance as there current phone. Not the z folds garbage aspect ratio looking like a candy bar and completely unusable and you can’t even type on the dam thing. Just my opinion coming from someone who’s used the z fold and returned it.
I have owned Pixel phones for some time now and switched to iPhone for two main reasons, storage management, and heat issues. Recording videos and taking pictures has been a real pixel lineup issue. The phone would continually heat up quickly, and storage running out is the always-on notification.

yesss!!! im ok withe bezels because after a day or 2 with the phone im used to it and its already apart of life. but a phone with none im constantly changing a screen or zooming or something i dont wanna do
Pixel fold looks really promising i just may get it.
I like my Z flip 3, but miss some of the Pixel features. I don't know if I'll go for the fold out tablet style though. Wish they were releasing a flip style
Samsung 💩
What pixel features do you miss? I have a Fold 3 also. Never used Pixels and always felt Samsung has more features for the money.
@@dadsofgaming5118 the big one is visual voicemail. Samsung claims to do it but never seems to get a transcript. IDK maybe it's the combo of Samsung and Google Fi
@@dadsofgaming5118I recently got a s23 ultra and definitely miss quite a few pixel features although the ultra is a better phone, for one the always listening feature is extremely useful especially as a music lover, Google's voice to text is so far ahead of any other device it's crazy, I'm sure there were a few others that I miss too
Mini laptop with RTX 3080 laptop price. He’s really a good salesman..had me thinking about buying this which is something at this price point, I normally would have avoided the pitch like it was a timeshare! A real likable character. In person he’d be a sales beast for sure. I love the way he shows the camera comparison to the 7pro but what you see is how good it looks next to their current flagship. Didn’t do a comparison to the fold 4 which is a very nice looking product. A + sales job. The only problem he’s got is that the product is worth half the asking price.
… with the price of a 4090
Wow!!! This will be my first fold.. previous folds disappoints
I'm trading z fold 4 for this one
@@shomari17 im in the same boat but dont know why dont pull the trigger
@Johnny Goni at least try it out you can always return it if you don't like it
I think Google took a step back on the inner display design with the bezels.. it reminds me of the old portable DVD players or the old flat screen TV with the bezels.. I will stick with Samsung or go with the Xiamoi Mix fold 3..
I want it so bad 😭❤
The wider side of the screen is a good thing, for viewing documents, photos, videos for example, less tiring for the sight !
All photos look blue
I haven't been this excited for a foldable since the z fold 2...way 2 go Google
Love it. Won't buy it at that price... i get they might be expensive to produce, but I'm simply not going over $1100-$1200 on a phone.
I love the pixel 7 pro. I returned the s23 ultra for this phone and I don't regret it at all.
I think the aspect ratio here makes more sense than the z fold's 🤔
The thin front screen has always been my biggest issue with the fold. The fold 4 has made that outer screen more.... acceptable, but it's not perfect. The pixel looks like what I loved about the duo paired with why I keep using fold. Like they had a baby. I will be buying it.
Needing 2 hands when folded and unfolded? Lol. Whats the point?
I preordered the 512GB version weeks ago and it should be on delivery at any moment. I'm so excited.
Google Fi offers $700 off with their service
I'm sure it will. Google phones always go on sale.
you videos are always up thier lew and the team great job
Google needs to really learn how to create a very reliable and clean phone before they go into making a folding phone. Their normal phones have enough issues already.
Yeah. I can already feel the massive mess this phone is going to be.
I've never had a pixel, what sort of issues do they have?
No issues with my Pixel 7?
Dno about this form factor. I like the fact that the Samsung fold is really slim in the hand when folded. This looks very wide.
This is like I imagine how the Microsoft surface duo 3 should be.... Nice
Loved the review. Can't wait to see you review the samsung fold
I wish my folding wallet is that thikkk😅
They fixed the biggest problem of the galaxy fold, and that was the small narrow screen in folded form, was unusable for me because of that, this is WAY more practical, however the price is way higher than I expected....🤦♂️
I do think that the form factor is much better than the competition, but I don't think they're going to disrupt the market as much due to the crease sticking out in the unfolded mode. Apparently Samsung have fixed the crease in the up and coming galaxy fold 5 but we'll see!
And HUGE bezels
@@giovannirattin5884yall are whining too damn much about the bezels.
@@giovannirattin5884 the bezels really aren't an issue
Who gives af about a line down a screen that u barely can see lmao. Its a line
@@b2bgood870 Its the small things that matter when buying something of that price
Unboxing.
*starts with an unboxed phone*
Simply the Best folding phone right now, no doubt
Always been a galaxy s series user. I think i want to give google a try. I like the wide screen instead of the long screen on the z folds. This is very intriguing, i want this!
I'm so sick of all these folding phones coming out with no headphone jack.I want a folding phone but I don't want one that does not have a headphone jack
Google’s metaphor with the wallpaper. Wings, folded.
That bezel is unacceptable when literally every other company offers much better design in that department
I like they have those bezels, something to lay your thumbs on. It's a positive and is one of the reasons I'll consider getting one
Why is the bezel unacceptable if you watch a movie or TH-cam or anything on any foldable phone you’re going to have a black bar someplace which is like a bezel.
Dude, I want a good speaker and front camera
+ Now you have OFFICIAL Android software for folding phone
@@guadalupe8589 Its much better to sacrifice a relatively more comfortable grip (its not like the thin bezels are unbearable, they are still very viable) than to lose the significant amount or 'polishness' of design
@@gparizek156 Its about the design, how monumentally better the thin and most importantly - the symmetrical bezels look compared to this forehead and chin and even thick side bezels, ruins the entire aesthetic department , thin and symmetrical ones look extremely better when you just look at them, let alone the process of using the device. Device is intended for much more than just media consumption, your argument is extremely inferior
It's a stubby little guy, and I absolutely love it.

I had a pixel 2 XL. Even back then, they took great photos.
I'm using a pixel 6 pro now but I still got my pixel 2 XL.
You guys should offer that case for the front as a screen protector and kinda makes it into a book. Keep your productivity in check lol 😆
Watching this currently on my iPhone 14 pro
And really looking into this fold when it comes out just to try out pixel for a bit
The thick bezels make this look like a budget fold phone
I missed the good old unboxed videos
I love the background music 🎶...really a nice phone
I have owned Pixel phones for some time now and switched to iPhone for two main reasons, storage management, and heat issues. Recording videos and taking pictures has been a real pixel lineup issue. The phone would continually heat up quickly, and storage running out is the always-on notification.
It's a shame too! I had Pixel phones for a bit, but the reliability of iOS is unmatched still.
