    I got an old Tormex Super Grind 2000 and rebuilt it. It’s 34 years old and parts still available. Just like you said it’s like a Sherman tank. But hey it’s the only way to go.

      Actually, I have a new phone with a new number so I could probably start doing them again without the interruptions that were so annoying on the last channel.
      I was thinking of creating a small membership group that would have access to live sessions and some other benefits like discounts on the kangaroo tails and discounts for individual video coaching.

    I really want to buy a Tormek t8 or maybe one cheaper. But would you recommend it to a bloke who only gonna use it to sharpen my own knives or would you go a cheaper route? :)

    • @iSharpen
      @iSharpen  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@torsen1987 T8 is the only way to fly in my opinion. Are there cheaper ways to sharpen a knife? Sure. But if you like to buy cool tools this is the coolest sharpening tool there is.
      I bought mine used, second hand. Set some search alerts for “Tormek” in your local classified website in case you can score one. They’re as tuff as a Sherman Tank so second hand isn’t a problem.
      Or just go and buy one new and treat yourself to a cool tool. Dont listen to anyone who says “they’re too expensive”. Men spend thousands on toys and hobbies all the time.
      Bonus is, you can make a good living sharpening knives or some part time income after hours or on weekends. It’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made in my life.

    • @swingbelly
      @swingbelly 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tormek is far more versatile than most other sharpening systems which usually cost more and are primarily dedicated to knife sharpening only. No woodworking tools, gardening tools, axes/hatchets, utility scissors etc.

    Greetings from Ontario, Canada! How much would you sell a kangaroo tail ?

    • @iSharpen
      @iSharpen  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sadly, until my export permit is granted I'm not able to sell outside of Australia. I have some of the best most ridged tails I've ever seen sitting on a bench waiting for that permit. I'm selling a few to Aussies here and there but once (if) I'm granted an export permit you'll all be able to buy them.
      My aim is to make them available for a similar cost that Knife Grinders Australia was selling them for before he died. He's the one who discovered them for stropping so I'm aiming to follow his lead. The paper work required to sell a tail over seas is substantial so there'll be a handling and shipping charge on top.
      My advice, start saving. They're in limited supply and the good ones are hard to get. Nearly half the ones I bought are unsuitable for stropping (ridges aren't pronounced enough (roo wasn't old enough) so I'll need to find another use for them.

    Great video why is that leather wheel wobbling?

    • @iSharpen
      @iSharpen  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Phil.D333 it's old. Like me. I've rebuilt it several times. It's lost its alignment pins, been cracked and rejoined and all the screws have stripped out. It's wonky as fuck. You'll be interested to know that I still use this wheel in my latest videos. It's a trooper. I love it.

    • @iSharpen
      @iSharpen  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Phil.D333 Doesn;t have anything to do with the shaft. My shaft is perfectly straight. These wheels are made of plastic as you know. The screws come loose, the pins get squashed, the cases crack. All of these things have happened to my wheel but I re-screw it, re-glue it and grind off the pins and it runs true at the moment as you can see in my latest videos from the last few months. Since I got my second machine I don't have to take it on and off all the time to clear knives as the wheel gets smaller.

    Brother Baz I'm getting my watch time in to contribute. Remember, we here in the US do NOT want to do any business with California either. Everything comes with a cancer warning. Excellent work on the bigger knives. I love cleavers. They are my preferred blade shape. When my hands used to shake I started using cleavers to keep from poking myself. Now I like the shape best. Are you concerned about convexing a primary bevel on a hanging strop?

    • @iSharpen
      @iSharpen  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your contribution ;-). Nope, the leather isn't strong enough to round out the edge. It just rides the bumps and shakes off the root. I was also worrying about rounding off the edge but all this time all I was doing was leaving the root in tact. Once you realise that, you're happy to strop.
      Yeah, California (at the moment) sucks. It used to be all about hot rods and bikinis. Now the left have really screwed it up. It's geographically beautiful but politically cancered.

      Caring about the health and well-being of the population seams an odd reason to hate an entire State. A State that represents 1/8 (39 million) of the nations population and whose economy is the nations financial powerhouse that along with Texas and New York subsidise most of the rest of the country. Without their input into the economy the US would be a vastly poorer place.
      Californias economy is greater than all but 4 countries on the entire planet, that’s impressive by any standards.
      Is it perfect? Fcuk no! But name a State that is and state why?

      @@iSharpen Most of our veg comes from California. I am forced to buy olive oil from California because I like the taste and can control the age better. California has banned my state from their official government travel. That says how afraid they are of different opinions. How many kilos is Chili? He looks stout!
