Great episode Shawn! We are super proud of getting our products out to you in Canada for a proper test💪 You’re an inspiration with your resilience. Good to see the boat back in action and the beaver pond dry for easier access! Looking forward to future episodes 🙌
Way to go Tufte-Wear supporting Shawn--I will be visiting your site to check out your stuff. The Norwegians are one hardy group of people and no doubt their gear is first-rate!
The story, the episodes without a clear theme. Just the following of a man with a dream of living in the woods. No other channel like it really. Nothing staged, a true vlog❤ without the need of showing progression every video
Agree! Discovered this channel back in March 2024, episode 9. Shawn only had about 3K subs at the time, but that episode, with the cool music in the beginning and him burning the tree totally pulled me in. Been watching ever since.
Tufte is a Norwegian rower, firefighter and farmer. A 7-time Olympian and twice the world champion. The clothes should be of good quality. What about building a logbridge over the beeverdam? Another great video man 👍
Please do not throw out the cracked window You can repurpose it into a cold frame. Spring comes slow up there! But you can start all kinds of goodies in a cold frame of that size. And keeps the rodents out!
Keep hold of that broken window pane and throw a little silicone sealant over the crack to stop the water and cold killing it and use it as a cold frame for you garden ventures, help bring your growing season forward next year or if you cop a few more panes a small greenhouse to really extend it! Keep it up regardless bud, doing great!
Take ADVANTAGE of the low/no water. Use those Big logs start making a bridge from the mud up to ground level. Put a day in of labor. You'll Always have a solid bridge of logs etc to drive over/through the stream. Do it NOW....
Lol it's a good idea but unnecessarily demanding... lol the man has his priorities he's working on them... In due time he can get to it... chillax man 😂😂😂
@@westbenchmancave I noticed that he seems to know how to draw a plan. Knows how to pound nails. Are all the good Canadians named Shawn? The whole boat loss and recovery is a great story.
My friend, you are the most laid back awesome person I’ve ever seen. You get knocked down and you don’t lose your cool, you just get up and keep going. You’re one of a kind that I have the most respect for. Keep going my friend and keep the videos coming. God bless you.
Well that 38 minutes flew by! I wasn’t ready! As soon as I saw your video was ending I said “Nooo!” outloud at the same time my son groaned “Aghhh!”. 😂 We love your content and wished it was so much longer! Thank you so much for the effort it takes to share your journey with us. First wall up on the cabin! Yay!! I am impressed that your garden is doing so well! Have a great week. You might be physically alone but we are all there with you in spirit!
Your courage to move forward is supported with your admitted humility , an ordinary tin horn would have thrown in the towel long ago, all of us are living your adventures one victory at a time, thank you for taking us along for the challenge, good stuff.
My grandfather was a "Master Carpenter" he build his "A-Frame" Chalet on a 7 foot block wall, walk-in basement. All with a few power tools, circa 1972. He accomplished the framing, then broke his back. He was in a cast from his neck to his thighs for 8 months. He finished the house 2.5 stories high, even with that limiting injury! Everytime I watch your video, it reminds me of his work ethic, tenacity, vision, and passion! Please keep it up! Blessings to you sir! Well done!
Replaying each video 3x , it’s the least we can all do to help you financially just press play an go to sleep or a nice long drive or let it play while going for a long walk 😂 please use your old phones get em all goin 😂❤
I have to agree with a number of the comments and say this is now my favorite channel on TH-cam. You're on to something here, ride it for all it's worth.
A good bit of diverse content never hurts the cause... Way to go, Tufte Clothing, kudos to you for your insight. It seems Shawn needs to have his arm twisted to accept help (bloody Canadians, you think they'd learn from their neighbours down South, huh?). Thought you may find this quote from Bukowski appropriate: " When nobody wakes you up in the morning, and nobody waits for you at night, and when you can do what you want... what do you call it, Freedom or Loneliness?" Cheers, Fox
So glad to see you back at the cabin. Shocked how low the river is and how overgrown the trail has become. Wow! Of all the channels I have been watching, yours is the one that I really look forward to seeing updates from. Keep up the great work and looking forward to many more episodes! Be safe and enjoy!!
Drawing the plans on plywood, man I love that. I’ve built a lot of stuff from blueprints but all my own stuff is on the back of scrap paper, cardboard, base molding. That gave me a smile, thx.
Thank you for what you do. Your off grid back woods life is how I started out in life with my family. But then, many people were poor but didn't realise that they were off grinders. I miss it, but now I am old and unable to do much. Watching you live your life your way is very cool. May God bless you in your efforts. Stay safe.
I'm alone 99.5 % of the time, apart from my dog who doesn't speak English. I know what alone is. I understand your situation. You possess an inner strength and resilience. Happy Trails from Nova Scotia. 😊
I think your luck is looking up. If you have time you could 'hill' your potatoes and you would get a bigger crop or even take lumber scraps and make boxes around them and then hill the potatoes with earth as they grow. You harvest potatoes when the tops turn brown but you can sneak a few while they are growing We really enjoy the beautiful scenery and watching your progress. My sister's favourite is learning from your construction clips you make it look so easy. It is sort of relaxing to watch, relaxing for us anyway. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Shaun, I remember you being stressed out before your holiday and you were wondering if you were going in the right direction. You are definitely on the right track but maybe a slight alteration to your future plans. I believe you need a small piece of equipment to help you in so many ways as you develop your little piece of paradise. Your choices are endless in todays marketplace but my money would be on a mini track hoe(excavator) it would be the most versatile piece of equipment all wrapped up in one machine. Build road for access, move logs for milling or clean- up, remove stumps, landscape, lift heavy objects by yourself, and on, and on, and on! The tracks will be an advantage on soft ground over rubber tires. The next best choice would be skid steer loader with tracks, they have a plethora of attachments to allow you to do most any thing, bucket, blade, back hoe attachment, brush hog, mulcher, and the list goes on! The down side of skid steers are the cost, basic machine is about same as mini hoe but the attachments are expensive to purchase. Something you might want to give some thought to for the future perhaps. Anyways, enjoying your content very much and look forward to each new episode. Don’t let the small things bring you down! And remember, as long as you have your health, everything else is small stuff! Shoulders back, chin up and keep the joy in your heart! Best of luck to you Mel from Quesnel
Another great video. It’s nice to see you in your boat back on the river. You must really be relieved too. Things are really starting to come together on your homestead… speaking of which, you lifted that wall like it was nothing. With your first build you were a bit frustrated. I’d say you have it figured out 👍🏻 PS: beautiful drive through the ranch. Can never get enough of beautiful BC. Looking forward to your next installment🌞

Good to see you back . Bever dams break naturally . I belive this one did not last long but I read they normally last about 7 years before failing . I'm thinking your beaver pond might be part of a wetland that fills up during freshet since your river went down at the same time. As someone who has worked in wetlands, don't waste your time pulling the dam. The beaver will win. I mean unless you wanna pull a beaver dam every week, then go for it.

I really enjoy this channel and wish only the best. Have you looked into sponsors? I see other similar channels that seem to do very well with the sponsors. I recently saw a guy building a log cabin that was given a sawmill. He also was given a really nice battery/solar setup a few months ago. Others get cash from sponsers. I am no expert, but it just seems that to get by on what you make on TH-cam, sponsors would be a big part of that. Again, I want you to succeed and very much enjoy the content!
You definitely deserve the #1 spot for the best outdoors TH-cam channel. You're a fellow outdoorsman, carpenter, and British Columbian. I'm a few hours south of you in the Thompson region and absolutely enjoy watching your content.
I just checked out TUFTE WEAR. I think I'll order the Pine M pants and jacket. Sounds better than my old pull over plastic rain coat that you cant work in.
Glad to see your making good progress! Im sure having that boat tied back up in front of your place feels much better! May I suggest the branch that flipped you last time be removed and maybe used as firewood for its part in this 😅😁. As for the Solar panels not working when you wire them in Parallel have you tried wiring them in Series? Not sure what voltages the panels are and what the charge controller can handle but if its MPPT system it should work fine seris with double voltage but same amps as its only 2 panels.
Glad everything is getting straightened out. For what you have went through I would have done gave up but you are a very patient person and with that you will go far. Great video!
