dude, your videos are really helpful, and also have a sense of humour. I am looking forward to visiting oslo in couple of weeks and checking out grunerlokka for much beers and raving. thanks to your recommendation!
great videos jonas! you should do a compilation of all the times people photobomb you or get super awkward when they realize they're being recorded lol ... I see that's a common occurrence in your videos and it's just hilarious
Nice videos and very helpful tips, thanks!! Me and a friend are coming to Oslo mid February 2018 during the week, is there any good bars that we could go that are not ''dead''? (Sunday to Thursday)
Thank you Jonas. I'm not much of a night owl really, I don't like spirits and gin and tonic makes me feel sick, but maybe the apple-based drink I could stomach.
Totally had me a Sink the Bismarck. Worth all the Kroners. :-) and a couple of other local beers. Also got called out by a guy at a work office I visited. He asked how I found out about a cool place in Oslo such as Brew Dog 57, I of course said OsloPro... I bought the T-shirt.
+Jeff Holt cool! If you know where to go, Oslo can be awesome. Most tourists tend to stick around Karl Johan. That's nice, but there's just so much more to see.
Hey Oslo Pro! My friends and I are traveling and will be staying in Grunerlokka tomorrow, for a few days. Let’s hang out! If you are ever in the Philippines, we will be your ‘pro’ in return!
I've been checking out these videos for my upcoming visit, very helpful and sometimes even uncomfortably funny LOL What did that guy say at bar Chair ? LOOL
i will be in scandimavia in december so for sure i will visit those bars and streets...i hope wont die cuz will be winter..regards from peru...south america
Thank you for all of your videos! I'm moving to Oslo in a few months and they're really helping me feel like I'll know my way around a bit when I arrive! How is the bar scene at night around Grunerløkka for someone who doesn't like clubs or loud music or crowds? Are there many small hole-in-the-wall places to just sit quietly with a beer?
I would say most of the bars at Grunerløkka are not that loud. Mostly bars there, not clubs. After 1 a.m it descents into chaos when all of the drunk people arrive from the before parties. Before parties are a thing in Norway, or "vorspiel" as we call it. It's the opposite of after parties. It's because drinking is so expensive in Norway that people gather at home and drink until about midnight, when they pour out hitting the bars in a drunken state.
Himkok is what everybody is talking about these days. I've never been charged at the door. Drinks cost 124 and beer/cider 98. Just google the place: "Himkok", it's awesome. Internasjonalen and Mono around the corner don't charge either.
Yes, if you know where to go. Grünerløkka is just one of many nightlife areas. The meat market clubs are located in Rosenkrantz' gate, Universitetsgata and around Youngstorget. It's like in any Western city, slightly more men than women in the bars, and the girls will never approach you. So, it all depends on you.
Yes, we don't talk to strangers :) But this is becoming less and less true. Everybody has been to the US and UK, and we know that this is dumb. Just do like I do, speak to whoever you want to. Btw. if you are walking with a selfie-stick in Oslo a Saturday night, people WILL speak to you. It took so much more time to film this video because of all the people that wanted to talk.
They all look horrible, like IKEA built them yesterday. If you want to drink in really old, cool pubs with history, fun and great live music - just go to Dublin. That's where we British go!! 😀
Thanks for sharing night life of Norway.
