There just aren't enough videos out there that are as good, detailed, yet easy to follow as this one. Keep up the excellent work! Congrats, and thank you for this upload!
Many thanks !! Words like yours are the ones that encourage us and help us to continue with this activity that, although they involve a lot of work, we like it a lot. A hug. Cinta
FANTASTIC!!!!! Thank you for demonstrating in so much detail. I have a dremel but none of the attachments did a good job and I couldn't figure out how to make my own buffer. You're a genius!!!!!
Thank you for this great video. I think it might help to add that you should ALWAYS wear a dust mask when polishing. Although you cannot see it, the polishing disc always causes dust which can cause lung problems if breathed in even when you are in a well ventilated area. It is like breathing second hand smoke.
Your videos are so helpful, the soundtracks so perfect, and your English is so beautiful. Your art is absolutely beautiful - thank you for being so selfless and sharing your secrets with us! xo
Wonderful!!! Thanks for making this video. I'm new at clay and I had no idea to do this. Love the way you make the tutorials easy to follow and understand. *big hugs* :-D Thank you!
2:13 It is a good idea to attach the sanding paper with the wooden block with nails on the sides. So, you will get a sanding block. and you can attach the sanding block to the drill, so you will get a sanding machine, which will make the process very fast.
I couldn't resist singing along with the great music soundtrack you selected! At some point this wasn't enough and I even started dancing. It got too hot after a few short minutes so I took my clothes off. After all I can do this if I so choose. Of course, everyone in the business meeting was horrified but I just kept going until I finished the video (After I figured it was on repeat during the 7th time passing what sounded like the same tune)
It's great to know that there are people that music reaches the soul! I can not avoid dancing with certain melodies, and this is one of them! The only thing I hope is that you are the boss!!! A hug. Cinta
I think I will try this with diamond paste on my big piece of jade I working on and see how it goes! Thanks. I really am have a lot of problems with this big piece. This will surely help me!
Ghanés VicLolit!! The sanding and polishing I use it only for the pieces with a smooth surface. With this technique is get a finished very nice, but on surfaces homogeneous. For pendant with protruding you can use other techniques, such as enamel, resin, wax... A hug. Cinta
Did you use anything for the polish? Like cerium oxide or just use the Dremel? I’m trying ways without ordering the oxide online and no one sells it around here
Hello! Sorry I didn't answer you before, but I've been working out. I don't normally use any product, just water sandpaper and the Dremmel. I have ever used a wax from the Kato brand that is specific for this, and it was not bad, but the truth is that I cannot find it lately.
Thanks Gayathri!! You can use any power multi-purpose tool for polishing. I use Dremel brand, I think there is only a model. Maybe mine is different because it is older, but you can use any model or brand. A hug Cinta
Hi Nirmala, I do not put any enamel or glaze after polishing. The brightness is naturalidad the clay when you sanding and polishing the pieces. A hug. Cinta
+ARTESANIA PARA TODOS thanks, so basically anything you make with polymer clay doesn't need to be glazed if we follow your sanding and polishing techniques?
Hi, Yes, you don't need to put anything from varnish if you sanding paper and burnish. The only thing you have to do a very thorough sanding work, using all the numbering of sandpaper that we put in the video. A hug Cinta
This is great! The jeans are so clever! Don't know if you mentioned: good to change water between grits, because the heavier particles stay in the water and can scratch your piece. Thank you!
Forgive my intrusion, but, ,,if you lay your sheet of emery flat ,full sheet, get a water spray bottle, and work your piece directly on the wet paper, much quicker more control, steel wool is handy for finishing, and hard to soft leather and hand rubbing . Cheers tony b.
Thank you very much for your information Tony !! I have never really tried it, but I will and I will tell you how it has been for me !! Now I am working away from home for a couple of months, but when I return with clay, do not doubt that I will put your technique into practice !! Thanks again! Cheers, Cinta
@@ARTESANIAPARATODOS88 you don’t need big expensive machines, the fine work you do , dry with various diamond files, for bulking out , of course use the Fordham or dremel with a cutting wheel , finishing if you mount the piece in a vice and use your emery in creative ways, and then the process of going down in grit from coarse to fine, if you can find the very fine emery which is brown, it’s very helpful, and l have finished a piece just using aluminium oxide powder instead of diamond paste, although it’s not as quick it’s cheaper, and the final dry polishing with soft material like wool leather and skin,
Ever consider holding your piece to be polished and rubbing that against your abrasive surface? Especially non-flat pices such as the sphere in the video.
Hi Laura, the truth that I have never tried. For me, sanding and polishing is one of the most important parts in working with polymer clay. I know it's a very boring job, but the result is incredible. But it is always good to have new ideas, we must try !! A hug Cinta
Sorry for not replying before, I've had a lot of work these months. As Jesse has written, I do not use any polish. The trick is to sand the piece very well and then polish it. A hug. Cinta
A person here asked if it is possible to avoid the sand paper process. I am curious, but could you not make 3 or 4 "polishing" mandrels as you did here with the jeans. Once you have these, then you a mix of soap (the solid kind, not liquid soap) and various grades of grit that a person might use in a stone tumbler - I have seen many varieties for sale on eBay - or similar. Heat the soap in an old pan - loads of YT videos for it - and add the required grit. I would suggest making the different grades, different colours. Then, using one of the "denim mandrels", you can set it spinning slowly and rub the soap onto the denim so that it permeates into the denim a little. Once you have used that grade and are happy with the result, use another "denim mandrel" and use the next finer grade of grit / soap combo. Continue until you have used all your grades up and are simply polishing. great video. I really enjoyed it and found the whole idea of the "denim mandrel" to be really good, thanks!
Well it can be pretty usefull to know because i will smith some knife in the future and maybe weld some of them for very artistic purposes, thanks for this video :)
Dave Nicolette I wouldn't suggest that. it could mar the piece or even start melting it, denting it in some. you could also use some felt in the same way. it works just as good and it a lot cheaper. it's what I use for a shiny finish. :)
Hello Dave Nicolette !! Sorry for not answering before, but lately I only do one thing: work, work, work !!! ronie327 is right, if you increase the speed you can damage the piece. A hug. Cinta
I also think that I would not have to work so much, but we have 4 children, a dog and a turtle and they eat every day !!!!! But it is not a problem when there is love and happiness !!!
there is a way to avoid the sandpaper ? I care about my manicure , but above all , this kind of work boring me a lot. how to replace it? great music, congratulation for the choise!
MegaAnezia there is no way around sanding unless you make very flawless pieces that are very smooth and then add a layer of gloss of dinner sort, find online what kind you can use, other than that the only way to get a nice smooth shiny finish is to not be lazy and sand and polish your piece.

Hi, I have made this but it doesn’t quite spin the same. It heats the “drill bit” very quickly and I don’t get to polish anything
Hi, have you tried slowing down? Normally these types of machines have a button to regulate the speed. Cheers, Cinta
Yes, I did this at the lowest speed. Also the threads have made cuts in my piece. I was a bit upset.
