  • A very rare 1080p high definition slide show of the entire route of this historical disused line, between the above locations.
The views are entirely from my own fully restored original colour collection from 1982, and every former station and main structure on the line is included. Today, most of this route is now very overgrown with no tracks remaining anywhere, and the rest is a cycle path.

Thanks for sharing your fantastic photos. Quite ironic I was just speaking to my grandpa a few days ago about this very line after I took some photos of my cycle to Balloch. I live at Caledonia street Dalmuir right on top of where the railway would had been. Despite all the changes over sections of the former line it is quite remarkable that only a small section has actually been built over. Auld street which runs along the side of the site of Dalmuir Riverside station, I'm sure you can see part of the old footbridge. It's been a while since I've walked along the section between Agamemnon st and the railway bridge over Dumbarton road Clydebank but there was still some small sections of track left. Really interesting seeing your photos before sections were turned into the cycle path etc.

Thanks for your Kind comments Jay, it's great reading the interest that others have in the photos, and also the then and now comparisons from people who live local to the lines, and can fill me in on what's still there nowadays cheers, and glad you enjoyed them!

Thanks for posting this video, I worked in the railway for twentseven years and used to be Signalman at Bowling Box and later Relief Signalman at Dumbarton, the panel at Bowling had the diagram of the old line still showing and it was great to work in the box at Bowling made famous in the painting of the Glasgow Blue Electric passing Bowling Harbour, the painting used to hang in the boardroom at Scotrail House, I heard that the original box at Bowling was blown up during an air raid, the Signalman having set the coal fire for the early shift was walking home when there was a loud bang and the box headed skywards but whether that's true I couldn't say.

Liked the overhead shot of Old Kilpatrick. Very overgrown last time I went past and had a look.

I don't think so. My brother was a maintenance egineer at Bowling from about 1970 till it was shut down, plus he worked during the shut-down and decomissioning.
He was a hands-on guy, but he was highly trained by Esso to lead the emergency response team.
I drove by him when the police had stopped the traffic when a tanker had overturned at the roundabout.
The Senior Police and Fire Brigade Officers had to obtaiin his approval for doing anything--if he didn't they were kissing their careers goodbye( and possibly the lives of many, many others).
I never truly appreciated that the terminal was a very dangerous place to work.
As I wrote above, I cannot recall a railway line there, but ocean-going tankers discharged their cargoes at a dock within the terminal.
Shame that there is no commentary for this cracking wee clip, well-shot DouglasThompson.
