Just ordered Everdell for my brother as he really wanted it and he's also interested in that expansion especially. As far as I'm concerned I feel appealed by the big critters and can't wait to play with them.
Got into the pledge manager but was hesitating on pulling the trigger on the complete edition. Now I feel better about backing this game. Really enjoying the base game so far!
Great review, Zee...thanks! I really like Everdell. I was eyeing Pearbrook for my first expansion but now you've turned me on to Spirecrest. I was wondering if you know the difference between Spirecrest $40 and Spirecrest Special Edition $75. I noticed you reviewed the Special Edition version (as it says on the box you help up at the beginning) but I didn't see anything extra that is different from the retail version. Thanks again for more great content.
For posterity, the Collector's Edition adds 3 sets of player meeples, 9 more Discovery cards, and 3 more larger-animal meeples (plus a few extra saddles, though it seems the saddles can damage the meeples - they plan to offer free new saddles once the Newleaf+Mistwood/Big Box/Complete Collection KS ships). Also, the box says Collector's Edition on it - surely that alone could account for $15 of that $35. /s
I've never played the original, but it is on my wish list. However, do the "large critters" seem gimmicky to those who've played the original and any expansions?
Zachary Martin I have Spirecrest, and no, the large critters aren't gimmicky. 😊 They are really cool, and they basically turn one of your workers into a more powerful worker with various special effects.
I already player a couples of times. It seems it would be harsh but its actually not that bad. The other side is that you get to pick one card that has a GREAT bennefit on in, like one of those big critters for example.
Recently backed these new everdell expansions on kickstarter, went ahead and got the all in tier to get the collectors edition base game with all expansions. Cant wait to play them
Definitely made the right decision. I hesitated going all in because of the price. I backed other Kickstaters during that time so money was tight. I was able to trade for Everdell and glad I did so. Both my wife and I love the base game and I think the expansion will add some very interesting stuff.
i wonder when Yggdrasil Chronicles will be reviewed. So far I haven't seen any reviews yet and the game has been out for over a month. Seems odd. I am having a blast with it so far but was curious to know what people think of it. Is it because the game is extremely niche that not many even know about its existence? It is a 100% tactical euro game that's for sure so maybe euro games aren't as popular?
Not sure this really does anything for me. It's a card based board game but this detracts from that. Now instead of just focusing on your engine/strategy, you have to split your focus on all this other stuff. Just seems like the weather mechanic is there to add artificial difficulty.
Zee is great, but not a big fan of this style of reviews where you break down by category at the end. I prefer just give me some final thoughts. Sum it all up.
Yeah, these expansions just don’t seem to add anything to the experience of playing Everdell. Cool world to build up and add more to, but the base game just seems so much more solid without them.
Thanks, Zee! Backed Spirecrest out of all the expansions based on theme alone. Glad to see I made a good call.
I'm so excited for this expansion! I have Pearlbrook and love it. The added board with Spirecrest looks awesome!

@@Hieronymus-Pseudonymous a collectors edition text on the box is worth 15$ to you?
@@WuschelofDespair The characters "/s" at the end of an online post/comment indicate sarcasm.
@@Hieronymus-Pseudonymous thanks, didn’t know that : )
Please do these reviews also for Mistwood and Newleaf expansions
I’m late pledging for this expansion asap. Thanks zee!
Well explained! I read through the directions but watching you made it crystal clear! Thanks for your review. 😊
How many expansions does Everdell have now?
It has 3 already. Pearlbrook, Spirecrest and Belfaire
About to have 5

I love seasons and weather.
That "you can not play cards from the meadow" card seems pretty harsh, pretty game changing but not sure if it's in a good way

Great video Zee, thanks!

It is definitely worth the money. The base game is such a good game and these expansions will make everything so much better.

Great review !
So this one makes a very tight game even tighter? Hmmmm...
Hey hey!

Another overpriced box with too little inside.
contracts + random events are such a boring types of expansions... this doesn't bring anything exciting in terms of gameplay
I’m glad I didn’t back them. So underwhelming :(
