I miss this area. Love seeing it again, through your lens. Waking up in the rain in the forest is one of the best feeling of camping, packing up camp, not so much 😂
This came out great! I know from our past conversations that you don't regard yourself as a "storyteller", but you're better at that aspect of it than you give yourself credit for!
I kind of got behind on watching some channels and haven't been by yours in a couple of months. Holy cow, this was good! I'm super excited to see you starting to do multi-day trips (not that the day trip trails aren't great).
Thanks! I'm glad to see you're still around! Novsight has hooked me up with so much great camping stuff, that I figured I should actually put it to good use!
Loved the night drone shots 😀 Sitting on an interstate in an overlandd sucks 😕 During our spring migration north this year we had been camping just off 121 so i took it north instead of the interstates and it's mostly 2 lanes and small tows. In NC it made a turn i missed just before I-26 😞 In the fall going south i need to make time for the Georgia Tranvers 😀
Thanks for the kind words! Sitting in traffic is one of the worst things in the world to me. I ended up hopping off the interstate and making my way along the back roads (some clips of that are in the video). You should definitely check out the traverse at some point. It was worth the trip!
Wonderful video! I've never been on the traverse, per se, but I've spent some time around Warwoman WMA. That whole area is amazing. There's no shortage of mountain lakes and rivers to take a dip in!
Thanks! I wanted to take a dip in one of those rivers so bad, but were short on time. I'm for sure going to go back soon to poke around the area more. Warwoman is on my short-list!
@DefiantOffroad let me know if you'd like a map. I followed the map available online, but added a ton of camp spots with pictures, gas stops and where you can expect cell signals.
Nice videography. The last time I camped from a truck was many, many years ago. I’d say 15 years. I lived in Greenville, SC back then and went with a group to camp near Dahlonega. I got a lot of damage from that storm and have been paranoid about hail ever since. I actually camped for the first time since then the weekend before Labor Day at Two Wheels of Suches from my motorcycle. When the weather turns cooler, I plan to get out and camp from the truck.
Thanks for the kind words! That storm on the morning of day two wasn't too bad. The one that rolled through late on night number 3 was pretty bad. I'm really glad we made the call to stay in a hotel that night. When we left the hotel in Hiawassee on the morning of day 4, and started making our way back to the Traverse, we saw a lot of trees down. I couldn't tell if it was straight line wind, or maybe a small EF0/EF1 tornado. We would have been in a bad way if we had camped night 3.
great video. i've heard so many people complain about water getting into their RTT. it's good to see that yours is holding up. seems like that storm was a good test for it!
Thanks! The Novsight zebra-series RTT is holding up great. I think that I've had 3 rainy nights in it so far, and it's never leaked a drop. The storm in this video was a straight up downpour, and I stayed completely dry!

It doesn't appear as though trails that are on the Georgia Traverse were badly affected by Helene. The first trail reports started coming in about a week after the storm, and the trails had largely been cleared by then.

We got lucky and got a window of no rain that lasted long enough to pack up!

Man this was great! I I'm super pumped to see the rest.... Guess I need to get cracking on my edit.
You better get going Matt😂🖐️❤️
I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Loved the night drone shots 😀

There's nothing like starting an overland journey sitting in traffic!
It was bad. Back and forth between bumper to bumper and a frustrating 30mph.
Cool video! I was just up there myself doing the traverse and filming. If you liked this route, you should try the Smokey Mountain 500 next.
Thanks! The 500 is on the list!

Yeah hook me up! will@defiantoffroad.us
This was amazing. And holy crap did you all have a bunch of jeeps!
Thanks! It was a lot of fun, but it presented some challenges in terms of filming.

I'm going to try and hit some of the this trail on the way to the Fall Adventure Vehicle Roundup next month. I haven't explored Georgia yet.
It's definitely worth heading out there and exploring the area!
Videography in this one is nothing short of amazing! I've wanted to do the GT for a long time. Perhaps I'll get to soon!
Thank you for the kind words! I hope that you're able to make a trip to the traverse happen!

Found you on Matt's channel! Great video, looking forward to the rest of the series! The Traverse is my backyard! 😁
Awesome! Thank you for finding your way here. I hope you enjoy the other parts!
Good times! Well, not the sitting in traffic on the highway part 😂
Yeah the traffic was no fun, but the trip was!
Great one! I'm glad to see you out on longer adventures. Next stop, TAT? 🤣
Thanks! Never say never!
Great video. Want to do the traverse one day myself.
Thanks! It's worth the trip!
great adventure !
Thanks for helping make the trip happen, my friend. Perhaps when you come back over for SEMA we can get you out on some trails!
Thoroughly enjoyed! Do you ever make it onto a trail early? 🤪
Late starts seem to be the norm for me!
This was great, even though it was full of Jeeps 🤣🤣
:) :) :)
oh man, this was stunning! excellent video!
Thanks for the kind words!
