So happy they have released this. I’ll be building it into my mixing desk so I control the DAW from the sweet spot and still access features I need when mixing. Excellent product
Great video guys, thanks. Its even more fun when you have two UF8's, a UF1 and UC1 as there is less banking and you can find a track faster by hitting the select button on a track you want to go to.
I’m gonna be completely honest, I wished a lot of companies did this make one awesome software and have a dedicated hardware controller. I think that would be the most amazing thing it’s like having hardware in a digital world is something about being able to feel those buttons and knobs and make changes, it just hit different!
@@HenryMittnacht I did do a video, it wasn’t good and now some of the functionality is broken due to updates. I also took my Mac back to ground zero this week so I think I need to rebuild and sort something out.
It would have been bonkers if they worked on a better integration. But I have to admitted that even with the little done for the UF8 integration with Ableton Live, it’s still a huge plus for me. I can control every plugins params and most aspects of my tracks. There are just few things to make it really the best controller like allowing to use the “dead buttons” to be remapped. Or at last added the actual features like mapping all the automation buttons to Live automation features.
Really keen to know if anyone has tried this out with Cakewalk / Sonar? Sonar does run Mackie MCU but I appreciate this DAW not officially supported by SSL. Would I be wasting my time buying a UF1? Thanks
A little ironic that I am watching this tutorial hosted by Andertons. I tried to buy all 3 units from them but they wouldn't price match because one of them was out of stock for a few days!
I hope that SSL's aquisition of Harrison means some templates for Mixbus32C for all the SSL hardware at some point... the only alternative to the M32C channel strip and 'Mixbus' topology I use is loading SSL E channels and G bus anyway... I guess my love of inline consoles with 'per channel' features for the last 40 years has coelesced with the merger and all this great hardware and software 😎
Isn't technology interesting. When computers were introduced into music production decades ago, we were told how we no longer needed mixing consoles and how we could now do everything inside the computer with unlimited tracks and virtual mixers. Today we're using DAW Controllers, Plugin Controllers etc to bring back the physical faders, knobs and buttons again. Having said that, i do love the SSL 360 concept and have already bought the UF1 and UC1. Not sure i really need the UF8 as i never use multiple faders at the same time but it's great eye candy though 😆
@@POLYFUSIABAND in name only. That little setup costs over 2k. That's 2k for some pretty midi controllers. They're too big, too expensive and you'll end up using your mouse as usual for most things. Get a console 1 fader and buy a nice synth with the savings.
The UF1 makes my old Faderport look like a toy. Too bad my DAW is not supported; also I think it should be optionally bus powered to make it easier to place in different parts of the room for home recordists and mobile rigs. I guess it's really only meant for professionals.
@@charliesilverman1132 Cakewalk. There probably is a way to get it to work in Cakewalk and Reaper; it's just not supported officially and there might be extra steps involved, whereas it should work reliably with easy set up in the supported DAWs (Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase, etc.). If you really want to get it and use Reaper, keep checking online for other users that have figured it out. Note that some functions still might not work without official support.
@@lance134679 Thanks, I have the UC-1 & I love it but I don't think it's working as it should, I need to have a tinker with the settings. Thanks again lance.
Its Beautiful...the 360 Software....and the controllers...now if Reason...made a didicated Controller for their Mixer you guys would be done...becauase Reason's native SSL Plugins..sound better...LOL
It's ridiculous that these only work with SSL plugins. Just use a mouse, studio space is often precious and I don't know how anyone can justify a dedicated hardware controller for a few SSL plugins.
They actually work with 3rd party plugins as well. The rotaries and faders control the various parameters within the plugin and further ones can be accessed similar to using banks.
I’m so glad I don’t have this frame of thinking anymore. I would miss out on so much. I have two of the three along with the SSL12. And we’ll never go back to a mouse heavy. If your concern is more about studio space and less about workflow and better experience. Then i don’t know what to say to you.
@@djsilent01 Yeah man that’s cool, for less money I just bought an iPad Pro that does this and way more. Oh and it’s portable, has my entire DAW inside of it… and it’s also an iPad lmao.
I will never invest in expensive control surfaces again that do not work stand alone. The weak link Is the computer and software updates , a mac is only good for about 10 years , an audio interface maybe a bit more like 15 before it’s no longer supported. I’ve had two studios completely fall apart due to osx no longer supporting hardware . So I am super skeptical of picking up a m2 pro… To me , if I have a working music setup , I shouldn’t have to update it ! And you can try stretching it but what got me every time was hard disk failures , and back up failures, forget cloud storage backups they won’t work in 10 years . However s digital mixing and recording console that uses SD cards if you so wish and needs no computer , your studio won’t be out and you gotta cough up 3-5 grand for a new Mac Pro or m2 pro. I love logic and au plug-ins , it’s just a problem that these things don’t last longer .
I know what you mean, especially with Mac. I lost plenty of £££ through Mac's due to OS updates no longer supporting certain software's. I tend to just buy anything to do with software's for the studio on Windows platform now as I know I can still use them in the next Window's. I've still got plugins from using Windows XP pro that are still installing and working on Windows 11 Pro without issues.
I hear what you're saying, but rolling back to an earlier OS is an option. Years ago I owned the old white macbook and it was a relic. I've never used hardware more productively ever. As long as your setup works as you intend at one point, then it should be futureproof as a snapshot of a setup. It might get outdated and unsupported, but remaining behind is an option to at least continue recording.
There’s an amazing piece of kit that replaces all of this, is free, requires no setup or additional learning, works with all DAWs, fits on the smallest desk space, is highly portable, and you have one right now. A mouse or trackpad. Get back to work.
You guys hung yourselves with some low Quality Plugins...... Why Spend all this Money on a mixing System but not make your Plugins....Sound Great, if you guys (SSL) would take the time to do Convolution Updated plugins..with a good element of the Hardware SSL Analog Gear on your Plugins...like Acustia Audio...thats it you guys would Own the Plugin Game!!! You would make so much money with the Home Producer.....Rather Hip hop, Pop, Country or whatever
You SEE...your PROBLEM IS compared to Nebula, Acustica Audio, Antelop Audio, Analog Obsession, UAD , Reason and Even Slate Digital's SSL Plugins....FG EQ FG Comp and Grey Comp and Channel Modula on 4k..they all blow the sound of Native SSL Plugins away... Now...your v6 Channel Strip...sounds Great...and your v6 SSL Plugins..but you didtn sync that to your controllers...smfh
Just bought the UF-1 and am simultaneously baffled and agog. I hope that feeling never goes away. It is incredible 😀

I love this 3 units and I have purchased them all. Why are the visual feedback of EQ curves are only displaying if you are using Protools?
I use all 3 with Cubase, got lots of nice macros programmed in for the Uf8, might do a video on it.

no support for Sequoia/Samplitude either but Pyramix which is well behind on the mastering front. Doesn't look very secure when he used the jog-wheel
