    I started karate in 1973 at age 12 ..
I carried on getting belts and getting 2nd Dan entered competitions etc I kind of gave up in 2009 . Because of bringing up a young family . My heart and soul is always there , physically I felt drained and tired of looking after domestic life. Since I have been watching your channels while cooking , cleaning and shopping ! Lol I have been inspired to reconnect again . I love listening to all the Japanese vocabulary, and all the basic stances etc . I feel I am back in my passion again . I hope one day you make another video a set of sequences as a refresher for old time karateka … thank you 🙏🏼 soo much sensie.

I love that there are videos like these to follow at home. Last time I took Karate classes, it was before I had internet, and TH-cam didn't even exist yet. 🙃 Stuff like this makes it really easy to get extra practice between classes, plus it's a good visual reference that helps me to do it correctly.

    Hi Yusuke,
I've been watching your (and Jesse's) video for a few years now. I always wanted to start karate again. Now about 12 years after closing my Kyokushin club I have started Wado Ryo. Your videos have already helped me well and with these I can finally practice the basics properly.

Hi Alexe great you started Karate, IMO the One Practice that needs to change when practicing straight punches is pulling the non Punching hand to the Jaw not the Waist (yes I know about the Pulling Hand and Pulling in the Opponent by say the wrist) , its an absurd way to practice and develops a very bad habit, I have been saying this for the last 12 years, last week I sa Lyoto and Chinzo Machida talking about this very thing

This is a great video and suggestion! If one wanted to go one step further, Karatedo Kyohan, Gichin Funakoshi suggests practicing karate 10-15 minutes at a time 3 times a day (before breakfast, lunch, and dinner). His suggestions for what to do seem to be working toward perfecting your kata and hitting a makiwara a couple of hundred times per side.

it's a little like you read my thoughts ;-)
since more than a year i don't train anymore. the break started with a training ban due to covid in november last year. meanwhile you are allowed to train in groups again, but i still didn't go to training anymore, because i thought a lot about how karate is trained in germany or how "easy" it is to get a black belt. i experienced it myself 2 years ago, how someone, who in my opinion is by far not "good enough" for a dan, nevertheless passed his dan exam.
this made me angry and sad at the same time, because i really want to earn my dan and have a high demand on my karate.
the result is that although i still have an inner desire for karate and watch many videos (including yours), i no longer actively practice.
maybe your video will help me to get a little more motivation again.
so a big thank you to you for this video (and all other videos of course also ;-) )
