I was wondering what grind you had on your bowl gouge. Was it a 40/40 grind?

Very nice, Is Cottonwood the best wood for bowl making ? What's the best wood in your opinion ? Thanks.

Probably not THE best wood for a bowl. It is so soft that durability is an issue. I don't know if I have an opinion on the BEST wood for a bowl. It all depends on intended use. A good, utilitarian bowl could be made out of something hard and non-toxic, like Oak, cherry, or maple. Whereas an artistic, more aesthetic piece may use exotics or even intricate segmentation or inlay work. It really comes down to preference, IMO.

One more question, sorry. What do you treat the bowl with if any when all is said and done ? Thanks again !

Any hardening oil such as Tung oil, walnut oil, etc. for basic finish. Varnish/ Poly for high gloss and polished finishes. Thanks

Might want to look into using a penetrating epoxy as well.
