Easily one of the greatest bands to come from Oz and anywhere else for that matter. So many things to celebrate about this band I can't even focus on one.
Had the good fortune to meet Doc at our record warehouse (DJ's Sound City) on Angel City's first American tour. He had never seen so many records in one place, and was quite impressed when I showed him where their album was amongst the 10s of thousands on the shelves. Got an autograph lp and the thrill of a lifetime. Angel City rocked the Paramount in Seattle that night. RIP Doc Neeson
RIP Doc. The best Aussie band of their era - original and energetic. Nobody could make an RSL club or pub ROCK like they did. Their songs played such an incredible part of my life as a teenager - amazing memories!!!!
- @@lcasalini In my opinion - yes - but I'm a huge fan of AC/DC. Lyrically, The Angels were more diverse and Doc Neeson was the equal of any national or international frontman I've seen in 40+ years. I saw the band live many times from 1979 onwards and I was blown away by every performance. :))
The Angels were the classic 'Aussie Rock Band'. I saw them many times over the years and they never failed to deliver even up until Doc's end. I admire all of the band members through The Angels journey and remember them as a key influence through my younger years. My old mates still reference our times seeing them when we get together, special times.
Saw them as The Keystone Angels supporting ACDC in 1975, Whyalla Cinema, SA. A school excursion that cost $0.60. A fan ever since. I always preferred them over ACDC.
I've been listening to them a lot this last month. I do that from time to time with certain bands where I just go deep on the entire catalog. Angels music is easily some of the best pure rock ever produced. They definitely have moments that make you think of AC/DC but it's really more about guitar tone I think. Angels had such an amazing sense of melody (clearly this was the Brewster's influence) and great gifts with the chorus (Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, etc). Just love this band.
@@henryg3146 It just proves the validity that great music survives over time, fads, favorites, whimsical notions and fashion. That to me is the power of music. It's one of the only "things" I can think about that has this power.
They have such an enviable back Catalog I loved seeing these guys live. But looking back after all these years Howling is such a rock solid album...Some pearler tracks.
I'm reading Bob Yates' book on the Angels (written with the Brewster brothers). They were a great band with a slew of classics. Always loved After the Rain particularly. Terrific lyrics and typically memorable Rick Brewster guitar figure. Awesome!
saw these guys at the 3 SWALLOWS HOTEL at greenacre one day, just blew my mind, it was especially awesome when DOC clocked this bloke with his guitar, RIP my friend
these guys were alot more famous than they were ever given credit for i saw a interview on aussie tv and they said a mostly local fame hmm is a locallay famous band known on the other side of the world i dont think so i grew up with this stuff and still love it
I must have seen them over 50 times but I'll bet many others could beat that because they were one of the hardest working bands ever and brought the high energy night in night out. Salute you Doc. I'm getting another tat soon of the night attack cover. I think that cover sums up Doc and also "The Angels" in one. I used to see Doc sometimes point out a chick in the crowd and the security would tell her that Doc wants to meet you backstage after the show. Lucky bastard lol. I wondered how he'd still have the energy because I was always spent and soaking with perspiration after an Angels concert. I must say also that one time he stopped the show when a woman was too close to the stage holding her small child. He got her to move right back because of the child's sensitive ears.
Boys :) I seen you four times before I was 21. Sydney, Newcastle gigs including earthquake climbing if stage scaffolding lol. But, after the rain, is your masterpiece;) ta
Legends! Saw them many times. Got screwed in the USA cause they had a hair metal band of the same name. The World should have given the Australian Angels a good listen! Awesome and individual. Long live Doc! Where is the good Australian Rock! It seems to be gone, 😢
AC DC have some great songs, BUTT the Angel's songs were all good. I rate them the BEST. Lucky enough to have seen them live a couple of time's. They never needed stage lights & smoke & shit going everywhere. They just put themselves out there & did what they did best!!
Another classic Angels song primarily written by Angels rhythm guitarist John Brewster. He wrote it after watching the World At War episode on the Holocaust.
A wise man, {you might even call him a bit of a Brewster} said, ''It's better to be at the pub thinking about God than be at church thinking about the pub.''
It never gets old... They are such a GREAT band!!!!
"THE ANGELS" DEFINED THE 70'S FOR ME.
The angels will rock on forever.
Just love The Angels. One of my favourite groups

He was a better front man than David Lee Roth. RIP doc neeson
Timeless. First band I ever saw live when I was 15 at Huskisson RSL in NSW Australia.

He does. He was amazing.

Music today is not even close to this era of music.
We backed em at the old tudor in tassie and played the riff from"after the rain"in one of our songs while the boys were in the audience ,cheeky.

A wise man, {you might even call him a bit of a Brewster} said, ''It's better to be at the pub thinking about God than be at church thinking about the pub.''
My favorite band, along with def leppard and dokken.
Convinced had The Angels stayed with Alberts, they wouldve been as big as ACDC
Shames to hear about that. Lets hope he gets better and survives!
Saturday it's loud in my house
I’m not kidding peeps….they were bigger than AC/DC at one point! As a front man DOC was up there with Lemmy
Where have these guys been,?...they rule
Rip
