    Great vid, i have made my first whip now really pleased with it. On the fall hitch, i decided to whip the end with 1mm waxed thread rather than knots, as it a much smaller lump on the end and to replace later i just cut and remove the whipping add a new fall and whip again. I used a west country whipping technique.

    Hi! Great tutorial! I'm a whip newbie and thus wondered if I "wet" the cracker tassel end, would my whip crack easier & louder? It sure felt like that in the junior high school gym locker rooms with them ferocious wet towels!

    • @NicksWhipShop
      @NicksWhipShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Welcome to the world of whips, Tuck! The reason that the towels snapped better when they were wet is because it gave them some more weight which helps it move through the air more easily, similar to how you can throw a wet sponge much further than a dry one. If the whip is extremely light to begin with, then yes some water would help for sure. The whips made on this channel are built in such a way that they are already heavy enough, so adding water would just end up making it heavier, and wouldn't really help it crack any easier. Thanks for watching!

    I already bought two whips sadly not from you Nick because you are so busy and won't be selling but I made some cool crackers out of spider wire boy are they reliable 8 inch body 2 inch tassel but I'm not sure how long they should be and I seen a video of your falls being a certain length this one's only about a ft long yours are two, anyways love your videos you're my idol can't wait to purchase a whip from you in the future hopefully I can find a way to contact you in July if you are still making those beautiful masterpieces !

  • @daniellopezeverest
    @daniellopezeverest 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sir I bought a Indiana Jones whip on BUDK and I started playing with it inside the house in the hallway I made it snap three times and the little string with a ball fell off and the whip became unbraided is this normal? About 3 in of the whip became unbraided and I put red tape on there so it won't progress and also the whip is leather and it came really dry like falling apart is that normal for leather whips? I put coconut oil on it but in two days it got dried up again. Thank you awesome video by the way thank you for sharing I never knew there were night long whips do you sell them?

  • @vincentowen2158
    @vincentowen2158 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    i had the same problem about the tunnel closing. this makes it way easier. and i think thats why i had problems with the hitch coming apart. because i forced the needle through and it wouldnt be as strong as a newly braided hitch

    Just wondering do you think a nylon fall like The one you have shown will work on a leather whip ?

    • @NicksWhipShop
      @NicksWhipShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but you may need to make it longer to compensate for the heavier end of the leather whip relative to nylon.

    Hey Nick! How do you know when to use different numbers of strands while plaiting? I.e. When do you do a 12 plait as opposed to 8 plait? Or when to use 16 or 18 plait?

    Hey nick what brand 550 paracord do you use? I always have so much trouble making a fall because my 550 paracord is narrower than yours apparently.

    • @connorhinson5942
      @connorhinson5942 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also do you use bolsters for nylon whips ever? If so, what are they made of

    • @thomaswhipshop889
      @thomaswhipshop889 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try Paracord.com great selection of Paracord it has vast amounts of colors, patterns, and sizes. Also if you are using a permalock needle to feed through; if it is one you just bought in the store, you will notice that the tip is swelled up so that could be your problem.

    • @connorhinson5942
      @connorhinson5942 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I used a grinder to smooth down the swell and it is so much easier to make a fall now!

    • @collin350
      @collin350 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Hobby Lobby paracord 550. I'm pretty sure they're their own brand. It's wide enough for loading BBs and for making falls. Plus, with the digital coupons, it makes it around the same price that 500 or 1000 feet would be (per foot).

    What if you thread a needle on the old fall while you pull it out? That way the needle is in the correct orientation and can be used to pull the new one through.

    • @latterdayindependence
      @latterdayindependence 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sterling Hamilton he said it closes up a bit and is easier to do it the other way

  • @OscarTangoWhisky
    @OscarTangoWhisky 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How do you thread the paracord in itself to make the fall if you don't have a paracord fid?

    • @Atrumlux
      @Atrumlux 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some people will use a paper clip wrapped around the piece to be threaded. It'll work, but I feel like there's a chance for the clip to catch on some of the cord. Might fray some of it.

    I was wondering, if I wanted to make a 9 foot bullwhip but I can't get sinker cord for whatever reason, would gutted 550 paracord work as a substitute?

    • @jacobkelley257

      I just made a 6 foot whip and Ill tell you, if you are planning on doing shot loaded core (bunch of BBs) they wont fit or will be extreamly difficult. I got a 10 foot section of 1/4 inch nylon cord at walmart which worked pretty well. it was only $4. i won't guarentee it will be at other walmarts though

    Rather than cut the loop on the old fall and fuse the new fall to it, why not loop the old fall off the whip, then grab the end of the new fall with the loop of the old fall and draw it through that way?

    Yeah, i didn't have enough length on one of the stragglers to tie off. So i improvised. I took one of the ends, pulled it out far enough to double knot the fall to it, and simply melted the knot ends into it. Not confident enough to unbraid it just to aquire the appropriate length. Seems to be working fine for now😅. FYI, this IS NOT one of yours respectively.

    Does anybody know how deep you need to fill the sinker cord with bbs on a 16 plait 8 ft whip?

    • @latterdayindependence

      And how do you start each belly? ( 1st belly 2nd and overlay)

    • @latterdayindependence

      Based on what nick says in his vids and my calculations, on an 8 ft whip you should put about 21.5 inches of bbs into it
