Bravo MS, please continue to give us reasons to migrate away from your platform 🙂 What they don't tell you is that new Mail EULA says you give MS Royalty free access to your data to do with what they want (Section 2, Paragraph B).
Sigh you do realize there are other email programs out there that you can use to get your email. Thunderbird for example.
They are welcome to wade through my 40,000 unread messages haha
@@DreamofaHive They have AI for that :-)
The old Windows mail app wasn't very good. But the new Outlook is AWFUL. Notifications literally never work. The UI is slow and ugly. Accounts constantly get logged out.
yes i got all the problems.
Rather than pay Microsoft, pay for something better, Proton mail is private and encrypted, it's got everything, mail, calendar, cloud storage, VPN and password manager. There are no Microsoft or Google employees reading your emails or looking at your private files, so if you have to pay, get the best.
Proton Mail is a paid mail service just like Fastmail. People are cheap. They do not want to pay a yearly fee. They bitch and moan. Microsoft Mail is a mail program.
All Microsofts way of pushing people to use subsription based software.
Then when you do because you NEED it you end up paying through the nose for it.
IIRC the Office 365 memberships allow access to outlook desktop?
I have always purchased stand alone Pro Office. Refuse to use subscription based. Yes it was dearer but it was mine. And i had outlook desktop client.
Still use CS6 as i refuse to bend over for adobe as well 😂
Microsoft confuses us by calling the new mail app Outlook when we already have an Outlook that is part of Microsoft Office/365. This new Outlook doesn't have allot of features that Office Outlook has. Microsoft should not replace the Office Outlook with this new Outlook
They already call the web client Outlook, not to mention they are forcing the conventional application Outlook to the Metro/Modern Outlook (which feels just like the web client).
This is why I'm moving everything to Proton except what requires crapware corporations (e.g. here).
Thunderbird is the best open source option, but there's also Eudora. Version 8 is built on Thunderbird, and V7.1 is still secure and usable.
I've used Prtotonmail for a long time. It is a great company for all of the right reasons.
Thank you for this most important, and albeit awful news from MS, Brian. Happy New Year, mate!
thanks for the upload it was nice to know
Our pleasure!
Thunderbird ! They now have a email client for phones
Typical Microsoft scummy move
Its becoming a monthly thing where they do something people don't like.
Yes the good original people from MS have gone and the new people have gone woke
@@Britec09 try daily
@@jasonhawkins4528 Once you go woke you always go broke.
@jasonhawkins4528 100%
The way MS did this was crazy. Changed the Mail icon to download and launch Outlook, which in my case never worked for some reason, just sat there failing to initialise. I recreated a shortcut to Mail which would try to launch Outlook 3 times before launching mail, last month it started putting up a window each time wanting to "repair" Outlook which had a button for "no" which didn't do anything and an X which didn't work either. I looked into Outlook and decided it wouldn't do what I needed, so I have switched to Thunderbird. This after force replacing the much superior Win 7 mail program with Mail by making it not work under W11. It's as if they are trying to drive people away.
What I find strange, Microsoft removed Windows Mail from the Store and installed (if no accounts configured) the new Outlook back then. About a month later, Microsoft installed Mail and Calendar back in Windows. Very confusing message to end users. Now after trying to reincarnate Outlook (miserably failed so far) to New Outlook with pushing previous Windows Mail users to New Outlook, this is causing a problem among users. Not all Windows Mail account setups/configurations work like it should in New Outlook. But Microsoft does not care. Microsoft thinks they are help you improve your experience when in reality they are ruining your experience with frustration and broken email accounts on a partial features New Outlook.
Another foot into the the grave for MS!
Mail is still working on my Windows 10 laptop so far! I can't tell you how many times I've had to uninstall 'New Outlook' though!
Microsoft Mail? I never ever used it. Why should I? The same goes for Outlook. I am perfectly fine without it.
I use Thunderbird for many years now, and never felt any urge to use another mail program. It just does what it has to do, without any unneeded bloatware or/and advertisement. Backing up and restoring your complete mail list (including mails from many years ago) is dead simple. Nothing stored in a "cloud" and more of that nonsense. Everything is stored locally, and runs locally. What else could I need?
Thunderbird mail..
Yes, that's what I'm currently using also. Works well :)
Thunderbird mail works a treat
Same here!
Yes that's fine Iknow a few people who use it and had no real problem
me too
This new mail client is seriously lacking. Its just another cash grab, to get us to purchase the pay version. Windows is in a decline.
7:48 were can i get that backround ? looks nice
Aaannnndddd THIS is why I walked away from Windows in 2003!! Have been using T-Bird, Evolution....or Geary....all usable, easy to use......and free
Microsoft?.....realizes that their company is a lumbering dinosaur, and they're trying to "cut the dead weight".....people?....
Linux.....
I still use Windows and will continue to use it. I use Thunderbiard email app to get my mail on Windows. I use other email applications on iOS and iPadOS to get the same email.
Isn’t a better comparison old mail vs new outlook mail? This comparison is much more favorable.
The price for a standalone Office Outlook is ridiculous
there removing all those features in order to start charging you for them a year down the road. they cant charge you till they first remove them and give you enough time to forget they was once free.
What about Windows Live Mail? Using Windows Live Mail since 2012
Its unsupported for a long time. But it still works, MS didnt stop it.
Windows Live Mail support has ended already. It was replaced by the Windows 10 Mail app.
Doesn't work under Win 11, which is annoying as it was far better than Mail.
@@NiallWardrop Windows Live Mail still working fine under windows 10. Will keep windows 10 as long as I can
Also, you can't change the display name in the e-mail accounts section - BASIC programming gone by the wayside, Outlook Express was more functional.
Apparently Mail will still work after the deadline, but it won't be the default mail program. It might be necessary to disable Outlook to get it to work.
I had forgotten about windows mail. I started using outlook last year. I just tried to open wm and it didn't even open completely before closing and opening outlook instead. Guess that is 24H2 doing that
I encounter problems with the new Outlook, it is not sending emails, it keeps staying in the outbox, Can someone help me?
I use Thunderbird. Works like a charm...and more importantly no ads
Mail, People and Calender worth removing then. Prior to fresh install
I always remove them 😂
On both Windows 10 and Windows 11, there is a date and time icon in the taskbar that when clicked on brings up a little calendar. This calendar on Windows 10 is linked to the Calendar app (the one that will soon be replaced by the dumbed-down version of Microsoft Office Outlook), and this calendar allows you to interact with (e.g. view events, add events, etc.). However on Windows 11, there is no way to interact with this calendar - it is essentially nonfunctional and therefore useless - even when logged into Microsoft Office Outlook. Is there a way to make it functional?
@@JordanLewinVideos Proton mail has everything you need and it's all encrypted, mail, cloud storage, password manager, VPN and calendar.
@@GManWrites Does Proton Mail work with the taskbar calendar?
@JordanLewinVideos I don't think it does as of the present time.
@@GManWrites Got it. Thank you for your suggestion, but right now I'm just looking for a way to make the taskbar calendar functional.
It will stop working end of the year? Good! Finally! I always uninstall it when I set up Windows since it is dangerous :))
Looks like my Windows Calendar didn't import my Appointments to Outlook and with the lockout banner over my old mail and Calendar I don't know how to resolve that.
That is a long list wow
Yeah, they scrapped nearly all the important stuff.
Of course because he compares apples and oranges, nobody said it will replace Outlook 365 ... Anyway I don't use any of this Windows crap, also always hated the bloated Outlook 365, installed that on a tablet once for my father and it took up twice as much storage as the operating system!
Thunderbird is a very good alternative, and is available for Windows and Linux. With all the complaining lately about Microsoft this could be a good on-ramp to Linux.
Well Brian the new free Outlook is sadly lacking in many ways and the two that annoy me the most are that you cannot block any sender you have to create ridiculously long "Rules" that more often than not do not work and their claim to stop phishing and scam emails is false - I get so much crap every single day and it is very very annoying. Again Microsoft at it's greediest best.
What about the Outlook PWA? Will I have to back-up all my drafts and folders there, too?
The new Outlook is a web-based Windows app that uses a Progressive Web App (PWA) to combine the desktop and web-based Outlook programs into one experience. This allows users to access Outlook from any device with a web browser, and to use it like a desktop app:
Install the PWA
You can install the PWA in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome by:
Signing in to your Outlook account
Selecting Settings and more or Customize and control Google Chrome
Clicking the icon in the top right of the browser
Clicking Install Outlook (PW)
Use the app
Once installed, you can pin the app to your taskbar or start menu, create a desktop shortcut, or set it to auto-start.
Access your account offline
You can access your account while you're offline.
Support for multiple accounts
The new Outlook supports most accounts, including Microsoft accounts, work or school accounts, and third-party accounts.
You can switch back to classic Outlook at any time using the toggle in new Outlook. You can also turn off the automatic switch if you're not ready to try the new Outlook.
@@Britec09 Yes, but will a back-up be required before December 31? Or will the PWA sync?
I feel like the wording MS use in this situation is a major problem; I don't use or need 'support', which I understand to mean helplines I can call if I am a computerphobe with too much money or forums full of incompetents who seem to purposefully misunderstand problems, so telling people 'support will end' means nothing to me. But 'It will stop working' is a lot more to the point - not to mention 'it will stop working because we are breaking it on purpose to force you to use a version that has ads in', but that's way too much honesty.
Tried to replace the Mail with the new one. The new Outlook app doesnt keep the credentials from my other mail accounts with the exception of outlook account. Every time I enter the credentials, on the next reboot or app restart they are logged out.
I use Twobird because it reminds me of the old Outlook Express !
Outlook Express or even more slimmed down?
Windows XP came with Outlook Express, Paint, and Windows Movie Maker...Windows 10 has a sucky Android like mail app, Paint that needs a goddamn textbook to figure out all the overcomplicated menu icons, and the new and improved Windows 10 has no Windows Movie Maker...Now the geniuses at Microsoft are like: "Hey Bill, just burn it all down, the sheep will still keep coming back for more"...
Yah okay, Bill, LOL...
A bit of a misleading vidoe yet again from Britec09, support will end on the 31st and no more updates will be applied, windows mail will still work, this really old news as well, MS announced it sometime ago.
What's the comparison with Mail for Windows?
(rather than the paid for 365 one)
But are there anyone not working for Microsoft who uses MS mail?
Ok...but how many people using the Windows Mail app actually need all the advanced features that are missing in the new Outlook?
While I agree that the new Outlook, which is just a wrapper for Outlook Web app, is atrocious and needs to be burned alive at the stake, many of those advanced features in the traditional Outlook app aren't available to Windows Mail users anyway...
I do generally agree that Windows Mail users are better off switching to another client over Outlook though. Thunderbird is the one I recommend the most, and Claws Mail is another one that's worth looking into. Though that being said, also consider who is using Windows Mail. If it's people using the traditional email services from their ISP (some people still do this), then using another client other than Outlook will likely be their best option. If it's people with Microsoft accounts, maybe they're already using the new Outlook and don't miss the features of traditional Outlook that they never used with Windows Mail anyway.
I'm not a fan of Outlook 365 or the new Outlook and I don't like the layout of either app. I personally like the Windows Mail App and how it functions organizes my multiple email accounts... a very clean and functional layout. Unfortunately, it seems there's not a comparable product that would be close to it's interface layout and functionality... most seem to copy the Outlook 365/new Outlook interface. I've tried a few and have been disappointed by all of them... perhaps I've missed something that would be close to the Windows Mail App.
Makes me sick. It was a letdown when Comcast said my lovable OUTLOOK 2010 they said was no longer supported. I hate web based email. I was able to install OFFICE 2016. With newer version OUTLOOK. I WAS listening to you describe the ms mail client shortfalls. No working with PDF, that stinks
I only use the calendar. I started using Googles calendar for the past year. Is there a way to export the old calendar without having to use outlook?
Been using hotmail account personally for two decades. Does this apply to me?
No. Windows Mail is an Mail Application. A program that you use to get your email from say Hotmail, your internet service provider etc. Hotmail, Proton Mail (paid), Fastmail (paid) are examples of email providers. The provide an email address and storage on their server for your email.
MS unannounced automatically moved a 99 year old neighbour of mine from MS Mail to the new cut down Outlook client totally confusing them - so I’ve moved them to gmail web interface and added a shortcut so they just click on one icon on the taskbar.. MS stakeholder communications on this was shocking.
is it possible to get in contact. i have done all the methods to get into my bios and they arent working i need help if possible!!!
I've never used any kind of M$ emails, and never will. As for this new Outlook, it's a joke, and I don't even need to sign into it. So much for security!!
Just tested this on Windows 10 20H1 build 19041.84 and the mail & calendar apps are still fully functional.
MS haven't listened to the feedback Everyone hates the new format as the old one did exactly what we needed it to! Absolute CRAP!
Thank god I stuck with Gmail and never used Windows Mail.
Don't wanna jinx it but still working fine here.
I could be wrong, but the screen shot at 8.36 onwards specifically say Windows 11 !!
Oh i never used it after they killed Lumia. All emails arrived an hour or two or even a day delayed than Outlook 2016 and always uninstalled it from offline image on windows 10 redstone 6.
It was probably stopped because the latest crop of developers thought that is was called Windows Male and so wanted a gender free service...New Outlook client. They will be be in touch with the jaguar marketing team I am sure.
Its OWA: Outlook Web Access!
Yes, it's not that great and had problems working with IMAP for months. Just about works. Not a patch on real Outlook and is an excuse to bombard us with adverts.
I am 100% sure there will be adverts
I didn't know there was a windows mail...
How can i get calendar to work with my outlook 2019?
Would this stripped-down version of Outlook be the spiritual successor to Outlook Express?
It worked before?
When Mail came out, it was very basic and lacking a lot of features. Now they want to remove even more features?
I don't really care since I've been using Thunderbird.
Still working any updates
No big loss then. I don't know WHY some people are still using a separate app for e-mail. I switched to gmail back in 2007 which will run in just about any browser and I've never looked back.
I never used Windows Mail
Some ppl have multiple email addresses
Windows 11Pro here, Mail and Calendar automatically updated today on MS Store.
Microsoft are experts in alienating it's users 😂
Never mind people, the most popular operating system is coming to laptops in the near future, Google has plans to upgrade Chrome OS to Android.
Its called, pay for a subscription or you get garbage.
Rest in pieces. Even when I was on Windows, I used Proton, Thunderbird and Libreoffice. So it makes no diff. to me. Why do you guys even use Windows when you are so displeased with it and do everything you can to break it's inbuild security?
Just move to Mac and everything, from full featured mail to word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, is all for free.
Windows had mail? I thought the horrible experience of the MSN network ended that years ago?
i used to love Windows mail, now i am stuck with Thunderbird, i am not a fan of Office Outlook so probably won't like this Outlook either.
I never used Windows Mail myself, I use Office Outlook, probably because of work.
I changed my new outlook replacement… i now use edison mail in the meantime
I cannot stand that outlook covered with ads every day
Mail was good in its day
I hope edison mail will be a good replacement for my icloud account …
Welcome to the new Microsoft where they put ads on everything
I now use Mozilla Thunderbird, l like it.
Sent this also to your e ma il address, no reply. Can you answer please?
Great channel, thanks very much! BUT, confused with this upload, see subject line! Because of this upload of yours I downloaded Thunderbird mail and donated approx £18 to them. I don't like it's settings and how it works generally.
The thing is, it's now 1st Jan (Happy New Year) and my outlook windows mail on windows 10 is still working perfectly fine with no changes!
Can you explain the point of your warning upload about outlook mail please? As I said, it's working just fine. I'm sending this email to you from that client.
I also like mailbird but it’s not totally free.
Bill Gates - you've got to love the guy
Hello Thunderbird. I'm back...
Thunderbird and Firefox. Only choice for Windows IMHO.
💯
1000%👍
It won't be long till they completely push people to Linux.
All talk, no action.
I'm fine with the web based Outlook, never was a fan of Mail.
Same, but New Outlook is junk
Windows has mail ???
0:05 for the International Solidarity Day of Azerbaijanis day is also December 31, so, Windows Mail end of the support date is exactly the same time before muslim's new year arriving on January 1. I use Gmail and Outlook so, mine is no problem.
Gmail and Office Outlook are great
Outlook sucks. Use Thunderbird.
I'm sure everyone will stop complaining once they realize Microsoft did for no other reason than to make more money
I am already on the new outlook.
I got forced onto this in August. Its rubbish - frequently you dont receive new mail for days at a time
It used to show a counter, number of emails. I'm not getting that with the new one.
Remove outlook script still working here~ hopefully will last and I will be able to hang on to old mail client a little longer~
I'm going to call it Outlook Lite/Disabled/POVO Spec. Just ridiculous Microsoft naming convention, is there a free version of Outlook for Mac and Outlook for Linux?
All the non-geeks will think they are using the 'real Outlook (on Windows)' and things will go wrong when they need assistance to fix or change things and find the instructions for Outlook (on Windows) not working for Outlook for Windows. Blasted Microsoft.
Betterbird is the de-wokified version of Thunderbird and is my personal choice.
I'll look that up. Thanks. Ever since Turnpike was taken off maintenance I've been open to ideas. Agent is OK, but not as powerful as Turnpike was.
how is Thunderbird "wokified" ?
Me too, its the best. I'm using it with Linux.
I could never get that awful program to work in the first place.
Microsoft strikes again!
The "New Outlook" is nothing but an ad server. Delete it ASAP and use another mail client.
If Microsoft don't fix the issues with Windows, Then even Windows itself will be discontinued soon 😂
I linked all mine to gmail on the web and connect that to office outlook if need be or drag a link from chrome to desktop and change the icon
Have to laugh though. microsoft says you can't have what you liked but rather what we tell you!😆🤣🤣🤣🤣
Gmail works for most people. I get lots of emails and need more control, so outlook works for me, office outlook that is.
@@Britec09 Yes it is good indeed especially if you need to keep emails and have more control
thunderbird is better
What is Windows Mail?😉
We Blocked MS we used are 365 Ouutlook 2019
