Antelope Island State Park: Everything You Need to Know

Welcome to Antelope Island State park located in the Great Salt Lake just west of Syracuse Utah. Most known for its bison herd and hiking and biking trails, Whether you've visited the island before or visiting for the first time hopefully this video will leave you with some important information and helpful facts to make the most of your trip.
The island sits approximately 40 miles from Salt Lake City and consists of approximately 28,800 acres and hosts a variety of wildlife ranging from the popular bison herd to pronghorn, fox, coyote and many species of birds.
Open to the public in 1993 Antelope island is a great place to visit close enough for an easy trip but far enough away from the city to enjoy the scenery and nature. With many hiking and biking trails, informative visitors center and remnants of one of the states oldest buildings at the Fielding Garr Ranch on the south east side of the island.

We have a day or two in Salt Lake City and are thinking of visiting Antelope Island. Are the animals easy to see? How much time should we allocate - a whole day or just part of the day? Thanks for all the great information!

Hey there, yes the animals are typically very easy to spot. Most of the landscape is very barren and the bison stick out against the grasses and or snow. Make sure to take the road out to Fielding Garr Ranch as there are usually lots of wildlife along that route. You will see many variety of birds and falcons, bison, pronghorn and there are some bighorn sheep as well. Enjoy the trip! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Should be renamed Spider island! They are EVERYWHERE!
